Removing Disklok from steering wheel

I was getting pissed off about YouTube blatantly engineering the search results about removing Diskloks, but then realised I was searching eBay, not YouTube.

Convert to left hand drive and leave the original steering wheel in place.

I'd lightly buzz right around the edge with a grinder in the faint hope i didn't damage the wheel underneath, could you jam it away from the steering wheel at least a few mm to create an airgap on the bit you are grinding, laborious but might work

Have you considered appealing for help from within the local community via the expressive media of interpretive dance?

Sheefag, you've been waiting for an opportunity to link that weird crap haven't you?

It doesn't get any less strange the second time around.

Further thought, does either you house/car insurance cover key loss? both of mine do as does my AA cover which covers ANY lost keys and the locksmith costs

Mr Spartacus, please don't decry the power of Interpretive Dance.

Combined with a liberal application of Muesli, it can bring calm and mutual understanding to any situation.

It may yet bring peace and respect to the 'EU' thread.

No, seriously you are going to have to grind it off.

Years back I was sent on a training course about security products and we got to destroy several in the name of "education". Crooklock, stoplock and all others will come off within minutes but the diskloks were uttery impenetrable and even after several people taking turns hammering, bashing, chiselling and levering, they wouldnt come off. It was at the time the only Thatcham approved physical security device on the market.

Drill a hole in the middle with a hole saw in your cordless drill to get access to the big steer wheel nut. Undo it, remove steering wheel with lock attached and take it back to your lair for further hammering with 240v power tools.

You watch, you'll get it sorted on Friday, have to buy a new steering wheel then find the key sat on a shelf at about eye level on sunday morning...

I think we've all seen that particular porno classic.

Scarily there are people on that thread saying how good AS is ...makes a change from not as good as it used to be. ..

Ah yes, but it's an old thread... ;-)

Looks like Station needs a new windscreen as well as a disklok!

Shame you couldn't take a picture of the sticker that has the serial number on that's on the inside you could have no doubt got a key from them direct with it

Top timing there fordperv!

Did you crack the screen getting/trying to get it off station?

Use a hole cutter in the middle, continue into steering wheel, hopefully your central enough to remove the steering wheel nut.

Posted

Looking at the state of the thing now, it's a bit beyond a hole cutter!

Levering the fuck out of the middle bit to get to the centre bolt seems like a good plan, then ebay for a new steering wheel...

Posted

I see the screen is cracked already. Take it out and just drive with no screen.

Lock the steering in the straight ahead position, fit a steering rack to the rear wheels and mount a tiller on the bootlid.
