Promise I will if I can get the brakes sorted.  (And ideally the exhaust blow.)  I'm going to try and book it in for the week after next and hope I can be here to deliver it for fixage.

You know, I reckon old XJS's are the most WHOOSH cars ever.

Well, that was disappointing. Did about 20 miles in the Somerset and saw nothing of real interest. '65 E type, two VW Beetles, a VW camper, late facelift XJS and a rubber bumper Sherpa roadster.

I did see a LeBaron convertible in fetching gold/brown and a MK3 Fiesta Bonus with a rear window louvre, being parked on the seafront by a middle aged chap with a baseball cap and sunglasses. I watched him carefully apply his baseball bat style steering lock before locking the door and wandering into a cafe.

Never knew this was a thing! Damm.

I took the Lexus out to Costco today, does that count? Never saw anything classic/retro on the drive out there despite the nice weather.

Bought a massive 32 pack of Pop-Part and a case of beer...

*Never went just for that, parents got some stuff as well and needed a barge to transport it all.

Lots of classics*'spotted today . Almost got hit on a roundabout by 3 white 200SXs complete with stupid camber and noisy exhausts. They thought they were going to do synchronised drifting , interestingly the one I came closest to hitting hadn't got ABS, do drifftaz disconnect it?

That was 06.00 before I'd even got on the motorway, once on M1 spotted loads of cars en-route to Silverstone for Japfest. Mostly Type R Civics, Imprezas etc. But also a lovely Colt Tredia ( Cordia ?) Coupe , a big arched 260 Z and an NSX .

A bright blue Corsair 2000e on 7" supelights near Heathrow and a green Mk 2 Zephyr with banded steels and hubcaps were next.

Also saw a Riley RM and Jaguar Mk 1( poss 3.4, had painted wires and sounded fruity).

The oldest car I saw was a proper Veteran London to Brighton type thing , it was an open 2 seater with steering wheel etc. If I had to guess I'd say deDion Button but I don't know why- it definitely wasn't a Renault as that's the only car from that era I'm sure about.

Aye...well... I had my doors blown off by a guy in a BigNissanSky today (14 plate) >> TWICE >> he chopsokkied me at Sutton Bank then again at the Filey turn off, from the Scarborough road.

... my guess he was taking the 'tourist route' and I got ahead on a direct route...

It really screamed when he hammered up my line, picking off giffers....

I didn't see anything else interesting at all really. A 1950s rolls Royce and that was it. My dad took the fiat out for a spin and didn't report anything else apart from three bikers on old machines who all waved.

Much spottage today. Dolomite x2,Austin seven,bullnose morris,mgb,lanchester,and at the carboot,mk1 Micra,shittyrover,r75 etc

Got a wee spin in the tiny racecar today. Been on holiday so hadn't driven it for a week, was good to get out...

Had to drive to North Kent today with 5-up so had to take the Saab, plenty of classics out and about in the south-east.

I saw (in no particular order) several beetles, a Mk2 Granada, A Volvo 144, several morris minors including a hot-rod one, a Ford Mustang, a Cobra (probably replica), a sierra saloon on period alloys, an R34 Skyline, a series of MGBs and going past Hindhead on the way back was overtaken by a Jaguar XK140 or 150 coupe when I was doing about 75, he must have been doing at least a ton and the car sounded brilliant in the tunnel - top marks!

My outing in the BX was shit. Turns out I have a buggered wheel bearing.

Just got out of the street, and as soon as it hit 40 is droned line mad! Funny thing is that it was absolutely fine last time it was out 2 weeks ago. Just turned round and had a wee look see.

Clucking hell!! I now have the driver side front on this, and whatever rear bearing on the Alfa that's rumbling to change now!

Took the 1970 Land Rover for a trundle and fill of fuel.

Loads of bikes about but loads of very wobbly riding,

saw 2 nearly forget to put a foot down when stopping in traffic so think there was something on today that appealed to the born again types

but classics never saw any at all :-(

Drove to the local Tesco in the Hondull to buy a car washing bucket. Saw not a single interesting car.

Then again it was snowing yesterday, the classic boys won't be ready to un-hibernate their cars until the ambient temperature pops above 0C sometime in mid July...

we did make it out, and while the run over the Yorkshire Wolds wasn't as good as the usual run up in to the Dales, we did have a good day out.

all told i guess we covered around 130 miles, and all without missing a beat! good old Marvin.....

plus we had fish and chips for us dinner in Wetwang. Lovely,

and oddly even though we were travelling with a convoy of chrome laden and be-winged Farina's we got pointed at just as much if not more!

and some pics

This neck of the woods was dripping with cl@551ix today. On the way to Foxton I saw: VDP Farina saloon (Princess?); various MGBs in convoy; a yellow Midget; Austin Six; two Daimler Darts; couple of Stags; Jag Mark 2 and E type; Zephyr Mark 2; MG VA; MG TC; Austin 7 drop top and some more modern classic supercar thingys.

I had a fantastic day. Check out the variety!

And that's before the Clan Crusader arrived. Oh, and a 1952 Willys Jeep briefly visited too. We went off for a drive and saw a Riley 1.5, a Cortina Mk1 and a group of TVRs. A lovely day in superb weather. The Ford Model T was superb.

EDIT - that's before six-cylinder arrived in his Citroen CX too.

Lomax 2cv based kit car?

Correct. Two 2CV based oddities in attendance today. Chap bought it (from the south of England!) earlier in the week. Has the most pathetic wipers I have ever seen. The Model T's were better, and it didn't have any!

I popped out for a spin in the Series 2a, achieving a new top speed of 'probably about 65 mph'.

I didn't see anything though because the combination of rock-hard leaf springs & such heady velocities nearly detached my retinas.

I've just been emailed this from the tail gunner of our convoy.

I drove into Norwich this morning to fill up with LPG, then round the ring road to Asda, then out to Lenwade for the meet Trig posted about, and I saw absolutely nothing of any interest until I was about half a mile from Lenwade when a tidy white Bluebird passed me going the other way (it'd just left the meet).  There was quite a variety of stuff at the meet itself - lots of old Yank tin and hot rods but also several '70s and '80s Fords, a Mk1 MR2, a Lotus Elan, a couple of Mk1 Cavs and some other stuff I can't remember.  I had a go in Trigger's Audi 90, which was good fun.  I love the sound of an Audi 5-pot.  I didn't take any pics, but Trig was there with his DSLR so he will no doubt be putting some up in due course. [EDIT: He already has]

Then I drove back into Norwich, extricated the Renault 6 from the garage and took it for a spin.  On private roads obviously, because no MOT.  The below picture definitely wasn't taken today.  No no, it was taken years ago, when the car was all legal.

It still has a rather sticky brake somewhere (I think it's the offside front), but it drove OK other than that.

I saw very little of interest for the rest of the day.  A couple of VW campers, and a couple of MGs (rubber bumper Midget in Vermillion and a BRG RV8), and that was about it.  I did take the Innocenti for a short run out once the roads had dried a bit, and I fired up the 164 (for the first time in several months) but didn't run it for long as the water pump now sounds like it's about to implode.

For reasons various, I didn't get out at all today so it's good to see all the pics from those who did.

I had a day off driving today but spent the day navigating for a mate in the Dales. Not visited before... Lovely roads and a nice pint at Tan Hill to finish the day off.

Lots of classics out, too. Hope to return in the Metro in the near future.

I drove the Senator today for a 120 mile round trip and saw a fair smattering, most notable were a minty Rover P4 and Mk3 Cavalier Diplomat the spit of my red CD. No pics of those but I did take the Metro for a spin this evening locally and papped it next to this Renner 9. I often see it pottering about used in all weathers.

The 604 made it to Bicester and back, but it did seem to use quite a lot of oil (engine and transmission).  It also got upto some quite illegal speeds on the M40.

The good news is that the carbs seem to be working better.  It now idles reasonably well and doesn't die if you press the accelerator suddenly.

SWMBO actually enjoyed the Bicestor meet and was taking photos of old stuff on her phone. I don't think she realises that an E Type is kind of beyond our budget though

They don't really do classic cars where she is from, it was a whole new world for her.

She still isn't very fond of the 604 though.

Is Drive It Day an event or a polite request?!

I drove my old crate today- I have always taxed it for six months from April onwards, but next year it will be tax exempt :)

Tried firing up the 924 in the garage as a token effort, and also it's been about a fortnight since the last time. Turned out the battery was flat.
