Another fool parts with silly money for an old snot BMW M Free.

£6900 for this (with no working handbrake) and a list of other faults longer than a journey to Mars. Typical of shagged out performance cars of this age - bought and owned by people who polish and pose in them but can't afford to maintain them properly and bodge repairs to keep them going. And he's seen accelerating like a loon after showing us that the front anti roll bar is about to fall off.

Ha deffo had a phoned in MOT! What an eeejit,

I'd argue he's not bought a lemon, he merely overpaid massively for quite an average 20 year old car. That rust he found, worn suspension components and whatnot is par for the course, but dickhead there clearly didn't check anything.

I wouldn't check on a £500 car, I probably would on a £6900 car. Especially when the 2014 MOT shows loads of wear to the bouncy bits that hold the wheels on, and the 2015 one had no advisories - yet all the bits on the car are clearly old and tired, not less than a year old.

^^ I was about to say the same- I don't think it's bad for a 20-year old.  Mind you, we can fix the faults for minimum cost.  Mr tight T-shirt is at the mercy of a garage which I'm sure will do a very thorough job.. for top dollar.

I enjoyed the video though!

He called his M3 Colin. He's obviously a bit of a fud. He then took it to Munich Legends whose job it is to find fault and they found faults. It's far from the worst M3, just a shame he paid the money that should've got him one of the best...

Yet another "performance car enthusiast" who thinks that anything with a premium* badge is indestructible and who can't even top up the oil without having an expert* hold his hand.

Sad, but certainly not uncommon.

When shelling out wedge like that for a high performance motor it pays to do your homework first, and get the car inspected by someone who knows what they are doing. A non specialist garage would probably do that work for a hell of a lot less than £3.5k, probably around a grand, but as he clearly has more money than functioning brains.........

..and this is why people get drawn in by a badge. There are absolutely scores of shagged out VWs, Audis and BMWs out there, because people just think 'oh yeah, these are supposed to be great cars. I don't need to maintain it, everyone knows they last for years'

That 'technician' was clearly thinking 'we have a right one here, let's stitch him up like a kipper', wouldn't surprise me if the electrics were simply down to blown fuses/bulbs, and that engine was probably fine just a bit leggy.

It's far from a lemon, it's just a 19 year old car that's started to slide a bit. In fact it's quite a good example really, which is why you should look properly before parting with top money for anything. At the very least I'd be looking for a complete absence of funny noises on the test drive.

I don't think the inspector guy was unreasonable, he wasn't giving it the Kwik Fit "think of the children" spiel, just telling him what was wrong.

There's no way that Munich Legends would do all the work on that list for £3,500.

Head gasket ? Replace or repair VANOS ? All that welding ?

That's before you start on the steering and suspension.

That figure is probably just labour, which at £85 per hour including VAT ( educated guess, probably more ) is only 40 hours.

If he really can get everything tip-top for £10,500 including purchase price ,then advertise it as " completely restored by Munich Legends " on Pizzasheds he could make a few quid.

Alternatively they bought the car partly to make a video series with and lied about the price for drama. Go watch the rust repairs he had to have done on his MX-5, it's not a personal project and he won't be paying garage rates.

Biggest question is why he's called the heap Colin.

For a 19 year old BMW I think it is fairly good.

I would be more worried about poor accident repairs.

Who gives a fuck about the washer jet alignment? As long as they spray.....

The condition of the car is good - not the price.

Reminds me of helping my mate look for a sapphire cosworth in 1995 - so many of them were shagged even at 6/7 years old.

guy is a prize plonker, 6900 has gotta be made up surely, trouble is you buy a 328i sport for a grand in this condition and get nearly as much fun, nearly 7k for an old shonky handling fucked about with em free, the only experience your going to get is driving a fairly quick but really old and tired old car, with lots of miles and maintained by the sort of people who run them on 316i money.

What a monumental bellend!

Mike Brewer wannabee with even less charisma.

And calling your M3 Colin throughout, WTF?

^^ What I was thinking! Sorry.

Was it actually a real M3 or a lower model with a bunch of knock-off M-Tech bits and several M3 badges stuck on it? Do real E36 M3's fetch this money in the real world?

That's a very good point if I think about it - weirdly,  we were both doing the same thing around the same time by co-incidence.

You should hear what it calls him.

What a complete knob. I wonder who he got to inspect it before parting with his dosh. probably no-one as he "knows about cars".

No sympathy for the cockwarbler at all.

Mind you while there are idiots like him the Arfur Daley's of this world will continue to make a living.
