Fair point.  Diesel noise, oily smells and slowness do add a welcome fillip of misery, so I concede: it is still full of WIN.

Wow, very well equipped for a W124 Diesel. 

 

It´s just a feeling, but compared to other W124, also seen in the brochures, I would say the "300 D"-badge sits too high up. Maybe a proud owner glued it on by himself. 

I guess I would be talented as a member of the jury at car-shows.

I didn't expect it to be a diesel, good work Junkman! Possibly one of the least stressed engines in a modern car, they're quiet by the standards of the day too.

I am actually jealous. Really. And no I don't care if it's a diesel.

 

The fact that mine will now not be repaired as soon as I thought due to LIFE and having to put up with the KV6 Sterling for longer (but it's now really trying to self-grenade) makes me jealous and sad.

 

I wish I was fast enough and confident enough to say: 'sell it to me when you're done' - But as always with me, I'll most probably be as poor as I am now then.

 

I spotted an S124 (W124 Estate) in Stourport which was a 300D but the same year as mine, it sound gorgeous, certainly a lot nicer than the 200D which was quite popular in Belgium at one point.

I could never have described my 300E as slow. You did have to mash the throttle into the floor to access exciting acceleration though.

 

Not after Red Victor 3's builder had given it a going-over... 

 

They outright refuse to even use first gear unless you're brutal.

 

And have the box in the right mode. Possibly S for SCARY. Or E for EEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
