Still not set off yet. Shouldn't be long now and not too far to come. Just need to pick up beer on the way. You lot don't go to bed early do you?

Just seen on DW's Facebook feed that the red Sierra has arrived. They're all standing around looking at it in the rain. Grim.

But I haven't exactly got anything better to do so I'm just going to sit here making miserable remarks about not being there.

If anyone has Skizzer's number can they drop him a line to tell him to check for a pm from me. I shall be popping up tomorrow so can probably give him a lift if he's brave enough to travel with me.

The first day of my first Shitefest is over and it was an intreresting experience. My conclusions from today:

- Scotoshite are mad for bringing the bus

- Not all Vauxhalls are shit

- My offering of free toy cars went down a storm

- Lexus LS400s are bloody heavy

- RAV4s are better than Xantias for pulling caravans across muddy fields

- The grey grille Sierra is even more grim in the flesh than it looks in photos

- Chris is a top bloke for laying all this on for us

I took a half day off work and have just checked in at the Best Western in Buckingham. 5 hour journey to travel 110 miles (M25 fucked as usual) so I'll have a cuppa to recalibrate and I'll be along to the field in a bit.

Judging by the pics my choice of motor isn't ideal, heavy old waftomatic, but if a flippin bus can manage a muddy field so can I!

PM replied to - I shall pitch up tomorrow afternoon, probably in some unstylish but unbroken transport.

Mr Fowler, you are a legend for bringing the bus. Happy to chip in to the petrol fund that somebody suggested somewhere.

Edit: I mean diesel fund, obv.

I'm home for tonight, and just about to go to bed, but the videos I took have uploaded to youtube!

So:

It rained, hard!

The bus arrived!

and got in

The Sierra Base went rallying

We all scratched out heads over the JCB

and after thinking of jumping the starter off the battery, Joe came along and did just that

and the ARBS (Autoshite Road Building Service) could begin, once Joe and Ian got the hang of the apparently shit hydraulics

There are pictures but I've not copied them off my phone, I'm off to bed in readiness for tomorrow. I'll be bringing my wellies though, if there's any more rain it will be even more muddy, hopefully I can get down to the campsite tomorrow (if there's room, it's bloody tight in there now! Probably even more so now!)

It's bloody ace. Bus party was amusing. JCB was terrifying.

Skizzer, even if you can't get to Chinnor for 12pm, the railway fun will be going on for a fair bit. We're all heading down on the bus because too many cars are currently stuck in the field. I'm hoping it dries out before Sunday...

Mud looks a lot worse than the inaugural Shitefest...

Glad you're all enjoying it. Gutted I can't be there... :-( :-(

That first video of trying to get the scotch bus through the fate and around the corner with traffic waiting was one of the most stressful things I've ever watched.

More updates please, so I can pretend I'm there.

Watford gap achieved.

Coffee and pooh, then about another hour to go.

Our road building excersise wasn't enough then? Looks like I'm camping up by the bus tonight!

He sure did. It was a case of unhitch, push Xantia, then bring in DW and the RAV4 to pull the caravan. We got them both in though.

He did get stuck. RAV4 came to the rescue.

The old Rav might me busy this weekend

Due to the mud, please can any day visitors park outside the gate along the lane on the grass and walk in. Our bus and some grain lorries are still using this road so please park leaving the tarmac clear.
