Dumped cars in your area

I forgot to mention that a few months ago in that very same spot was the still smoking remains of a caravan.....

A few caravans get dumped on the quiet lanes round here - and a black SMEG fridge last week.

Posted

there is a 51 plate silver berlingo (I think that's what it is) dumped in a layby just south of J18 M4 (the A46 towards Bath). The layby is a known gay dogging site, so I haven't stopped to look further

I got one of those 'Police Aware' stickers put on my windscreen last year, by carefully peeling it off and drying it out I can now park wherever I want provided I remember to reapply said sticker before leaving the vehicle.

(shamelessly pinched from Viz top tips)

I wish people would dump more cars around here, but they're too damn posh for that. Last dumped car was a Xantia V6 which lived on our road for about three months before vanishing. That was three years or so ago.

Wish they would dump V6 Xantias around here

I'd love one, if only to get locked inside at the Co-op

It's unfortunately just a V6 TDi. Untaxed since 2012, I'm just waiting for the dooovla to lift it.

This Almera sat here for a good few months before it was hauled away by the council about two weeks ago. At the time of taking the pictures, the tax had been expired since September 2014, the MoT since January, and it was uninsured as well.

EEK can't abandon a car in nunnery fields - no one will be able to park and use the hospital!

Interior is mouldy. I'm not sure what the issue with it but it's recently been moved onto a patch that I reckon the dooovla could rightfully take it. And they're pretty tight in this area. All the untaxed stuff goes to my local auction and sold no reserve without keys. It might be cheap if it gets to that.

Thats mega, must have been a major auto gearbox failure or something. Im probably generalising here but I would have thought that the type of person to own such a car would be more consciencious that to just leave it for someone else to clear up.

I imagine it would be an easier operation to make the Mary Rose seaworthy again than get that running.

Ill wager that when you turn it on (if you got that far) you will get a whole orchestra of bongs telling you this, that and the other is fupped, returning a null value or u/s. Great!

It was sat in a resident permit holders/four hour limited bay with no permit. It collected regular parking tickets but someone (I'm guessing the owner) kept removing them. The bit of paper from the council was removed as well, and the car was still sitting there at least a week after the deadline expired. It's gone now though.

The owner of that VW Phaeton above is probably spending time at Her Majesty's pleasure.

Isn't it still worth scrapping a car properly, i.e you get a pittance instead of nothing/having to pay for it to be taken away?

Not seeing any dumped cars round here yet. There is the occasional torched one but only see it once a year or so.

If you can't/won't take it to the bridge yourself I'd say probably not.

There's a Pug 306 and an Almera just off the M1 at J9 and a Focus up by the truckstop. Been there a couple of weeks. I swung in next to the Peugeot today for a tacho break and nearly swiped the trimz as they are mint. In fact the whole car looks in good nick which is a bit odd I suppose.

This is the only dumped car I've seen and it was in July so before the scrap price seriously dropped. It's last MOT only had a few minor advisories and the one before that saw that it had the following replaced: two brakes lines, exhaust and both front lower suspension arms. ~70k miles.

We had a badly listing  Laguna 2 on Irish plates dumped in our car park at work. The car park is a long way from anywhere on a private road so it can't have been connected with the dodgy Irish contractors repairing our Quay....

I think i'd have tried to get the V5 for that one and done some murky breaking

What is the car in the original post? I've been racking my brains and can't work it out.

I've got no less than 4 (FOUR) abandoned vehicles in my communal car park / driveway at home. Two M.o.T'd / SORN, and two aren't.

One's been stood for three years. It's an Audi 80.

I'm glad it's not just me.

Someone dumped this Paseo in front of an abandoned car dealership a year or two ago. Was there for a few weeks before it was hauled off to parts yards unknown.

That color!

Every so often I pass a brown Volvo 240 in a pub car park in Hulme, next to the garden centre and the new uni campus. Had to go to the garden centre for a meeting today so I finally managed to get the reg and stick it in DVLA. B reg and last taxed 1993 - it can't have been where it was for 22 years, but it's certainly been where it is for a couple of years at least. Never moves and has a black bin bag over the rear window.

I wonder what the deal is....

My initial guess on the cut - up shell in the first post was a Subaru Impreza estate, but the lack of grime or age on the floorplans makes me think it's something a lot more modern, stolen and stripped for parts.

There is a Polish reg Daewoo Nubira hatch (don't think we got that model here?) with flat tyres in one of the residents car parking spaces, not sure if it's dumped but it hasn't moved for a long, long time.

It will be scrapped when the next tenant/owner of the related flat starts asking why there's a prime piece of Polski shite in their parking space.

That'll belong to the landlord.

The Phaeton must be worth £5-1000 in parts easy! It's not like it's an old focus or something where the parts are worth fuck all! A specialist would have took it off their hands for a few hundred.

Only dumped stuff I've seen was an utterly hanging Renault Megane other week. Someone had been living in it. It must have fucking stank...

Whichever one they thought would run on red I would reckon. Be rough as arseholes.
