bub2006 Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 Thank you again. You deserve that drink. I'm really appreciative
mrbenn Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Bravo indeed. I've met, and had to deal with, a couple of serious cnuts over the last couple of days. Like, weapons grade. Its made me a bit sad tbh. Things like this restore faith that there are in fact decent folk out there. A fair chunk of them seem to frequent these forums. Tamworthbay and mercrocker 2
billyboy406v6 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Great mission junkman !! Is RAC/AA/Greenflag with recovery a sensible addition to future problems ? Sure we can fund this ourselves ? Also presume St Christopher badge has already been purchased and being displayed prominently ?
bub2006 Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 I'm praying to every known deity for done luck, hoping one helps! Yes definitely breakdown cover needed

M'coli Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Excellent work by Junkman there - mucho admiration for the man with the 405 and glad you got back safely, bub. The gearbox itself - I wouldn't be averse to helping crowdfund a replacement for the Saxo.
Six-cylinder Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Junkman my ZX needs a wash, can you nip down from Stockport and give it a spruce up☺ Seriously well done.
Dave_Q Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Yo, if we can source a gearbox I can donate some time/tools to go and fit it.Have had a look on eBay but the jokers on there are asking 3 figure sums for what I think should be about 30 quid.Any resident French lickers got one knocking around?Does it have to be a dizzler box or are pez boxes the same? Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
Cheggers Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Top bombing Junkman. There's a boozy lunch waiting for you if you ever find yourself in or near Portsmouth Junkman, fred and purplebargeken 3

plasticvandan Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Thee only reason I suggested a bike again to bub is I've known him long before he came on to these hallowed pages of beige, and he did genuinely have much more luck on bikes, plus there a lot less to go wrong than on a car,and if he did manage to stick a conrod through the block,he could push it home.MIGHT be worth considering. I have problems with my legs yet still feel safer on a bike than in a car. Tamworthbay, scruff and Cavcraft 3
Twiggy Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Auto shite man of the year award to Junkman. Tamworthbay, pbottomley, v8 scania and 5 others 8
sloth Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 i had a 106 1.5 that ate boxes. 3 in 3 months. first killed the diff, second cracked the bellhousing, third smashed second to bits. ended up with a rallye box that had trick internals that fixed it. sounds to me like the box is fubar.... bub, do you have a paypal? id like so send some festive cheer.
fordperv Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 This place is definitely what it used to be, Junkman your a top bloke for making the journey Bub it really is shitty luck your having at the moment it will get better, I also have been there, I had a time whenever I filled a car up with fuel it broke, from headgasket failure to gearbox borkage and timing belt failure on a belt that was well within its mileage and age, I was ready to give up as it happened to 4 or 5 cars in a small amount of time
Dick Cheeseburger Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 I really can't see that there would be many places where strangers are prepared to donate money, and turn up to help with car problems in the middle of the night. What an amazing attitude. As for a run of bad luck, we all get them in some shape or form. Sometimes it's best to keep your head down and ride the storm; other times it's better to make some changes. Difficult to know what the best choice would be here... purplebargeken and mercedade 2

Felly Magic Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Saxos do shit their gearboxes regularly, I honestly don't get where the myth comes from that they don't. They are mechanically weak. One of my colleagues has just bought a Saxo, and that has a dying box, pisses out more oil than the Exxon Valdez, and when I opened the oil cap the other day to top his oil up, (he is mechanically inept, and dumber than mud), there was a strong smell of unleaded. Told him to sack the fecker off ASAP
Craig the Princess Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Junkman fuel costs need/deserve a whip round?I'll kick a few sheckles in for that

Told him to sack the fecker off ASAPPSA gearboxes are quite rugged, the linkages aren't. I wonder if there are problems with Saxo gearboxes due to the ownership profile. andrew e and scaryoldcortina 2

bub2006 Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 I've always thought trigger was a sound fella too hence why I asked pal
richardmorris Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 What are the plans for the Saxo then? New gearbox or cut your losses?
