Whatever you need, Keef, we got it...

Including an Audi 100, Alfa 164, Rover 800, Renault 25 and Vauxhall Senator? :)

Because that refers to the earlier shape rather than the facelift I guess. If it's Sterling and Senator though, would it not make more sense to have an Audi 200 than 100? A far more attractive car. Not dissimilar to a Senator in fact.

I reckon we can cover Sterling and 25 quite easily. Not so sure about the others to be honest. If anyone on here is hiding a 164, I'll be well miffed. We do have a Senator hearse of course...

I can offer you, one of the following, 2 micra(s), a 300K  mile Zafira Desiesel, a battered clio, (which apparently spun 360 degrees on the M57 the other day according to my Nephew),  a couple of made this century Fiestas, a focus of some sort in blue, 2 astra(s) - both mk4s and both with less than 40K on the clock, an Oxford Built mini cooper with Midlands gearbox that works, and a 1997 MX5 (mk1) with a 1992 reg plate.

For you to borrow, or drive or comment on them, I would need a Double Room the night prior with Dinner, Bed and Breakfast, fuel at 45p a mile and payment for my lost time at my usual rate, plus the dreaded VAT. For that I'll drive any other cars, you want me to test drive, and badly write an alternative article, and take some grainy photos that are a bit shite.

You can keep the free lunch, as I like to pay my own way.

I remember my one drive of a 164 through a load of Pennine B roads while trying to avoid a massive foul up on the M6.

Engine was gutless below 2500 revs, brake pedal was oddly soft, but that 24v 3 litre engine was epic on song and the whole car very nice to drive on a flowing road.

Would love to drive another one now that I have so much more experience of different cars.

MG ZT?  Saab 9-5 estate?  Oh well, maybe next time.  I haven't been able to locate a copy of this estimable organ yet either, but it sounds like something I should be reading, if only occasionally.

Ah...

Could've given you a W124 until last month.  Lord Sterling of this electronic parish has plenty of 800s, at least one of which is even on - or close to - the road.

I haven't heard them referred to as the Rover XX for a long time. It sounds rather nostalgic and very-1986!

I'm also looking for owners and their cars to feature in their own pages.

Is a Mk1 Mondeo deemed modern classic material, or more CCW fare? Either way I'm happy to provide readers rides material.

I only have a zx, happy to provide content on it but it may be a tad boring

Drive to work

weekend, so a daylight shot

pick the crap out of the footwells

put fuel in

check fluids

drive to work

drive to work

Sure I could make it a bit more exciting though, it may motivate me to actually do something to it. I am known for in depth vacuum cleaner restoration threads, could do the same with the car

Snap. Exactly what my ZX does.

*speaks into dictaphone* 'Idea for magazine feature-Citroen ZX group test-we test two, remarkably similar, cars, on two, equally boring daily commutes. Repeatedly.'

I might actually write this up and send it to Jalopy with a stamped addressed envelope for them to send back my MASSIVE ROYALTIES in.

Want to test a Bentley? It's the right sort of age and we could do a first and last thing if buggerlugs would get his Spirit out as well. Only slight problem would be you'd have to go and rescue it from the specialists who have it and pay the bill! :)

Now that would ruin ANY budget - it's ruined mine!

i got a renner 19 1.4 pez to put up against a shitroen zx i spose

Hmmm, sadly my V6 XXs are not very close to the road. '90 G-reg Sterling helpfully has a broken engine (still runs, but very smokey) the other, an '87 E-reg Sterling needs "return to road" work which isn't helpful when you've only got a few weeks.

I have a D-reg 820E which only needs insuring, MOT and tax, but I don't personally have money for this yet. Soz.

Try Rover800.info if you want a ready to use XX.

What actual magazine is this for? Seems a bit of a shit way to ask to borrow people's cars and a bit tight that all the get is a free dinner.

^Disagree.

James Ruppert featured my shed in his Bangernomics column in Autocar back in October, and it was probably my proudest moment of the year.

Then again, simple things/simple minds etc...

I don't think that's bad at all. When my Civic was in Classics Monthly I got sweet FA and I was even expected to pay for the photos that were taken on top of the hotel i had to fork out for too.

If it wasn't for people having their cars used in the features there wouldn't be any magazines at all.

Yeah, I don't think this is just a cheeky way of Keith getting some free rides for the day! I think there's real work involved for a real magazine ;-)

Even Better - we've got a beaten up ZX, a 300,000 mile Zafira and a Nissan Micra...

I've always wanted to remake a CAR Giant Test from the '70s or '80s. My unbridled respect for the writing and writers of the LJK Setright/ George Bishop era, and perhaps Gavin Green today, are the two reasons I continue to buy that magazine.

While we're on the subject, I saw an ad for Modern Classics in last month's issue of CAR. As far as I can tell, it's not being shipped here to Belgrade, though we do get CAR, Autocar, Top Gear, Classic Car, etc.

Worth ordering from my newsagent's? Any chance of picking up a digital copy?

By the way, anyone writing for Modern Classics should really come to the Balkans. Many of those cars are still being used on a daily basis, although I suspect that potholes and homemade fixes have taken their toll. I actually went to see an R25 Turbo that was for sale a few months back (rough, but runs), and there's a guy in Å abac who repairs only Renault 25s.

I think by the powers of my own incompetence Ive just managed to order it twice on line in error so if I do get two copies I can post one out to the Belgrade if you dont manage to find a copy.
