It has some dust and crap in it, as people were coming in to borrow stuff - and the wind was blowing a gale! It's going to be rubbed down before anything else can go on top of it, so its no biggie.

 

More gas acquired - other side now done!

 

 

 

Even managed to exercise my other chod in between coats.

 

The complicated bits at the front should hopefully be done over the weekend....

Not a lot to report today - the complex fiddly parts of the front end have been thoroughly cleaned, then treated with the metal prep solution. I'll paint it tomorrow though - hunger got the better of me!

 

 

Work on the engine should commence soon, the last item on the list of filthy clean ups to do, then it'll get some new gaskets, seals and some paint thrown at it!

Got the rear tubs rubbed down, then applied the seam sealer.

 

 

 

I'd forgotten what a messy job it was, I think last time I developed a reasonable technique just as the job was coming to an end!

Been getting the front inner wings/A posts/chassis rails rubbed down this week. The plan is to get the seam sealer on there at the weekend, then make a start rubbing down the engine bay. Hopefully all the sticky stuff will be completed some time next week. Theres nothing worth taking pictures of whilst sanding, so heres one of the place I stop off at on the way home every day.

Re-sealed the front footwell corners after cleaning back, and painting with the grey stuff.

 

 

 

A bit more seam sealer on the passenger side of bulkhead.

Weber DGV conversion kit arrived this morning - many thanks to Eric at the Carburettor Hospital.

 

 

This should* mean no more lengthy cranking sessions when starting from cold.

Had a couple of days off it due to one thing or another - but been back on it today. More rubbing down, more seam sealer, + more coldness.

 

 

I want to get the engine bay paint properly flat, as it can be seen, but don't want to rub right through it on the edges of the pressed in shapes. This means doing it by hand. It's very hard paint, and takes a fair bit of effort. Living the dream right now!

I don't thin it down, just decant what I'm going to use into another container to avoid contaminating what's in the tin. I use their own thinner to clean the brush after painting. To spray it, they say to thin it a maximum of 5%.

No progress worthy of photographic representation at the moment - just finishing rubbing down the rest of the grey stuff! Work is getting in the way a bit too. My stone chip paint has not arrived yet, thanks to UKMail, but it should be with me this week - the plan is to get some on next weekend.

One thing which did arrive as promised was my clutch spigot bearing - thanks to those ever efficient German people.

I thought it was about time that I made a start on the last of the filthy clean ups -

 

 

 

Ran out of time to get any further, but the plan is to clean and paint it, fit new gaskets and seals, replace the water pump, fuel pump, clutch, thermostat + carburettor. Should be a pleasant job once all the muck has gone!
