After a slightly chilly night...

 

I'm looking for my car keys there - they're in the door.

 

THX to all who put my tent up at 12 at night.

 

At 8am in the morning after waking up. I couldn't inflate my air bed, so effectively slept on the floor on a slope. I woke up every 15 minutes shaking like a shitting dog. It was horrid.

 

 

 

The 'shite stand, 19 cars turned up.

 

 

Shite I acquired, 10 rattle cans for 50p each in colours I'll never use, two Raydot French spec fog lamps, three Vauxhall wheel cap badges, a 13mm ratchet spanner, and a Megadrive with pad and 10 games for 10 QUID!! Thanks to Andy for the ELFTONE stereo, I will donate some money to the Autoshite forum:

Yep, Rover failure meant I had to shy off.

 

8:15am: I had prepard myself well, money got, car warmed up and off I went...

 

8:55am: All was going swimmingly until I hit the A442 in Telford. I noticed that the speedo needles were flickering and the SRS light was on, I knew this was an electric related problem. I'd decided to get off Oakengates junction as I had a feeling that if I'd carried on anymore the bastard Sterling would come to a stop anyway and cause traffic problems by being in the way. I pulled into a small service road away from any traffic and switch off the car....

 

9:00am: Car decides it doesn't want to start anymore. Excellent stuff. I had no credit on phone so popped to the local shop which of course was still shut.

 

9:10am: Local shop still shut but someone was waiting outside...

 

9:15am: Shop opens, credit bought. Ceri called to confirm my non-arrival. I left my car to cool down for a few minutes.

 

9:21am: Attempted to restart car with no joy. So yet again, that call was made to the RAC.

 

10:40am: RAC man arrives, does some tests and confirms that the alternator has decided to resume being a peice of useless scrap metal. Some paperwork is signed etc... RAC man tries to organise recovery and confirms my car will ve recovered to where I want it to go (bailing the fucking thing springs to kind). RAC man leaves.

 

 

12:00pm: I'm still in my car and I've not been called by anyone wanting to arrange recovery. I call the RAC to see what's going on, they say they've only found someone to take the job on 10 minutes previously.

 

13:00pm: Still in my car, I'm hungry. Helpfully I've broken down right outside Dominoes Pizza. A call then comes through from a recovery driver, I confirm where I am and happily munching away on some cheese-topped garlic bread whilst waiting.

 

13:50pm: Recovery driver arrives, car loaded up and off on our way we go.

 

 

15:00pm: Car dumped at my mates garage. Driver drops me off at train station.

 

So yeah, pretty much a fairly shit day, mostly spent in my car like some homeless person instead of enjoying a day with old cars and like-minded people.

 

The day wasn't a complete loss, getting back to Kidderminster I decided to take the Severn Valley steam train home instead of a taxi. Train wasn't due for another 55 minutes so I mooched around the Servern Valley railway station and museum, I even bought a 1:46 scale 3-door plastic Range Rover in Beige.

 

I then jumped on the train:

 

 

This was to help me finish my journey home:

 

 

Upon arriving at the station I saw these:

 

 

I think next time there is meet/event somewhere, I'll either be arriving by train/taxi/on foot or not at all. My patience is wearing thin with fucking bastarding things going wrong with my cars (as in: crashes, insurance companies, failing components)
