Six Cylinders Motoring Notes

Sad not to camp - until I got to my real bed!  Amazing drive home, no traffic, almost every light was green, 85 miles in two hours without exceeding 50 mph.

My hat smells of Petter exhaust - I knew I was right to say Diesels are rough and noisy.

The DS.  Definitely super.

Been a bit obsessed with these since reading of them in Car magazine as a rumour.

Classy.  Everyone loves the Trevi. Why did no one buy them?

Possibly because they weren't quite good enough? Back end reminds me of a mini-Zil limo

I would love a small Zil limousine, sounds ideal.

Reminds me of an Argenta. Same designer I wonder? Or is it just because they're both silver and Italian?

It feels slightly less smooth on a rear-steer dumper with no suspension and a seat about 4' up in the air...

Good to see your Skoda, even if just in passing!  Been a while since I saw an early Favorit on the road.

Was I asleep dreaming or did a dumper pulling a 1 ton horticulture truck loaded with people drive by!

Looks like I left too early. I did wonder what everybody was going to do for the rest of the evening. Seems obvious now!

Had a great time and though I tried finding out who was who, I know I missed a few. Who was the young lad who took my Skoda for a spin just before I left because that was the most fun I've had in ages? Most people were a bit more sedate which is not surprising when the owner is sat next to you but I may* have been encouraging him on a bit and may* have mentioned that it ought to be possible to get the back end out a bit. Whoever you were, thanks.

Maybe next time I'll look at staying overnight. And I'll bring the Triumph.

Lovely, a DeeEsss.... Been watching Scott (C.W.M.) painstakingly reassembling one.

What a mare! ?

AbFab as a runner, needless to say. ;)

Yes, I think so, I sat with you in the back of the Trevi as well. He seemed to be enjoying himself.

Also, is it just me thinking Star Trek here?

406 compare and contrast got serious with the tape measure to check the boot sizes!

You dont get that sort of detail on top gear. We found the door aperture is wider but shorter than the saloon, the saloon does have a wider, deeper and longer boot. I refused to measure up against the 405 estate of mr welder though!

Just back and unloaded, no breakdowns this time ?

Many thanks to Chris and Clare for hosting another wonderful weekend and everyone else who came for making it one.  Highlight for me was bumbling around the field on the tractor with Daisy sat on my lap steering and a selection of random chod overtaking.  The fact that we'd just fixed the infernal Chinese device added to my sense of bliss ?

Obviously it broke again the next day ?

Weather was ace too and I drank just the right amount of Mrs C's famous cider ?

Chips were ace ?

I've just noticed there is a car missing from all of these pictures. I didn't take any either, I don't know why, I must have just been distracted every time it came near. I even drove it, but still no pics.

@TheDoctor's R8. Somebody must have some pictures. It's not like it's subtle or anything.

I look like some kind of social parish just eating my fish and chips on my own in this shot! Many thanks again to Claire and Chris for hosting another great weekend and supplying the scrumpy that was my downfall Saturday night (dangerous but delicious stuff) and thanks to @Smoll Floatylight for "rescuing" me after said downfall. The IS200 proved rather popular and was easily in the top three of most laps completed of the FOD, pretty good to sleep in too considering its compactness.

Finally ticked off the tractor and JCB so am running out of things that I haven't driven yet, @Six-cylinderwill have to purchase some new vehicles to keep me entertained at this rate lol.

@Smoll Floatylight did that last time, he's been there done that! Bless him he had a hungover conversation with my stepmum. I tried that once, she smacked me around the back of the head and sent me to bed (this was many years ago...)

Everything about it looked perfect didn't it! Infact the main reason I didn't drive it was Ive always wanted one, and didn't want to know just how good they were, as I don't really want to change my car atm...

Like the time I sat in your xantia whilst drunk, and a few months later...

R8s are great. Had 4 over the years. All 1.4. 2 saloons,2 hatch. The doctor offered me a go but the clutch was too heavy. With my crappy left side I have to be able to be above and push down like in mpvs or a nice light hydraulic clutch like the 406.
