Ooh, it's one of those.  That could be interesting* on motorway hills with a car on the back.

A long time a go he used to tell us stories of picking a manta up on the back of that and plodding his way across country, slowly.

needs a fresh can of diesel and a battery, i bet it’ll run….. I’d love a stab at that.

Are the Vauxhalls from the same fella as the burgundy estate which was Talboted?

Talboting (verb): To attack a hopeless pile of junk that everyone else has written off as scrap and get it working again.

I thought it seemed appropriate!

Wow, what a view of win! If you need any trim bits for the Berlinetta let me know, I'm sure there'll be bits on the fleet that could help me in exchange, assuming some are breakers?

What engine is the red one?

Was that diesel block used as a basis for the 2.4 Manta & Ascona 400 engines? Or am I thinking of something else?

That rings a bell, maybe I'm thinking Essex V6 after @Mr_Bo11ox had Christine towed away yesterday!

Thanks, I think we have one from fixing the Carlton estate 2.0i Club.

This is the worst bit on the Carlton from rough handling in storage.

What engine is in the Carlton? At a guess it may have been a scrap organ donor for the Manta.

Tractor/digger with forks on.  The cars were cleared out of a unit with the intent to scrap so care wasnt taken sadly. Luckily nothing was roof lifted tho

Some are a sorry sight to see but the fate could have been much worse. they are in the right hands now.

1.8i, it was close to being back on the road after a top end strip down and rebuild due to clagged up lifters, causing a running issue when i owned it, i wanted rid asap and as ian loved that carlton when i had it,  it went to him.

Yes the red Carlton Club estate was part of the same collection.

Talboted! It was more complicated than that as Andyrew also played a major part getting it back on the road and ianbmw was also involved.

Yeah it was all back up and running as far as i know. Last issue i recall tho a banjo bolt for the power steering pump leaking , crossed thread or something.

Hope those sexy gl caps are in the boot still.

Ohh and it needs the little eather wire from the head to the alternator. I stole that off it that day we took the carlton estate for the MOT!

A presumption on my part, a friend in Scotland is fond if the OHC engines in A Series, he would get complete cars from a scrappie he worked in.

The 2.0i is the bestest Carlton engine in 4 banger form. The only 1.8 I had was a mk2 estate, but the mk3 definitely struggled with the 1.8  engine weight wise. Shame I don’t have many spares for Carltons anymore, else they’d all be getting boxed up right now!

Do you imagine the main field will have been cut for the FoD weekend?

I don't think so, the sheep were on until late and the grass is not really ready.

A bit of a interruption to Vauxhall licking this weekend as it is the Citroen DS Rally.

Schedule confirmed, I can come down to the FoD for the next weekender - down Saturday and back up Sunday.

Indeed.  I was simply one part of a team that took it from grotty, tatty and broken to reasonably pleasant, not bad looking and running.  I doubt I would have been able to do as well as Andyrew did with the clearcoat repair.
