greengartside Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 There's no trilby hat in sight so it can't be Vulg. U R IMPOSSTER.
Ghosty Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Besides, a Veyron? Surely if Vulg wanted a Bugatti, it'd be a Royale? vulgalour and alf892 2
MikeKnight Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Now I'm watching that clip in my head, as Vulg, and imagining he's talking about the Princess rather than a Veyron. VROOM! It's much more amusing. cms206 and trigger 2
Melchior Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 The look of shame on Alex's face as he says "Corsa" a split second before the film cuts to the car passing by. He knows.
cms206 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 It's like that for me... I was an undateable due to shit cars and working 90 hour weeks. Landed my best mate's sister who is WAAAAAAAAAAY out of my league. She didn't even laugh when I turned up to take her out in the Council Estate for a hot night sheep rustling* up the Sargents Law. She actually won't let me get rid of it now 'cos her name is in the registration (ish) and when marriage occurs she wants to go to the church in it. She still reckons I'd pick a Daewoo Espero or Hyundai Stellar over her though. Who needs a Bugatti when a battered multicoloured Volvo gets you ACTUAL FLANGE. KruJoe, Bucketeer, Bren and 5 others 8

M'coli Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 This one is definitely 'b', only the ones produced from x-reg on were 'c' .
vulgalour Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Doesn't class B translate to a slap on the wrist and being told not to do it again? Seems accurate.
michael1703 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 This thread worries me, its a distraction from princess completion, cinders needs to make it to the ball

vulgalour Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 Delivery today:OEM radio with code and bookOffside door mirror casing in excellent condition and the correct unpainted finishX2 sunvisor clips. I ordered grey ones but now I think I might actually need light beige ones. I've sourced some beige ones too but I shan't buy them until I've checked if the grey ones are correct.X2 door mirror glass with normal magnification. Just waiting on the wheel trims and HBoL arriving now. Car comes into the unit probably this weekend to make the fettling a bit quicker and easier as I can do it out of the weather, particularly useful when it comes to getting the paint tidied and machine mopped. JohnK Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Can't knock off at the price you paid for it - ideal cheap motoring! Nice to see somebody keeping things original and just turning it jnto a generally tidy little car - I see you live in Teesside as well, will we see this gracing the roads around here?
vulgalour Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 I expect so. I'm holding off putting insurance on it proper at the moment as Mike and I share the Xantia but it's becoming clear there are quite a few times I could really do with my own transport during the day when he's got the Xantia and the Corsa would be good for that until the Princess is road ready. We'll see what happens after this weekend by which point I should be well on my way to having everything sorted on the Corsa.
xtriple Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Lot of love for this little car on here I see, not the usual Voxall r shit thing at all. Slightly related, I saw what I thought was a decent looking car pass me yesterday while walking the dog (just one, other still confined to barracks!) and it pulled in just up the road. For a confirmed 'petrolhead' I am ashamed to admit that I don't know what most modern cars are any more and I thought what I'd seen was a newish BM or somesuch. It was a Vauxhall Insignia. It looked alright to me to be honest.
vulgalour Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 All Vauxhalls are shit. Balance redressed now? Have to admit this isn't a car I'd normally choose to purchase and I don't know that I'd buy one again, it does fall short of some of the things I want from a car as it's a bit small, lacking in velour and hasn't got a squishomatic ride. It's also not what I'd call attractive and somehow doesn't quite manage to be cute either. BUT, it is a superb little motor in spite of all that and that's what has surprised me most about it. I was expecting the Corsa to be godawful where instead I have found it to be adequate. Those Insignias can look nice in a fleeting glimpse sort of way. Like the sun, don't look directly at them or you'll hurt your eyes. Bobthebeard and xtriple 2
vulgalour Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 Hooray, my wheel trims have arrived! Let's get this box open and have a loo... oh. They are in excellent as-new condition and Vauxhall trims, but they're the wrong size and not the design I ordered. I'm hoping there's just been an order mix-up and someone else has accidentally got the trims I want instead of the ones I have sat here. I've already sent an e-mail to see if I can get this resolved by just swapping the trims for the ones I want.

vulgalour Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 Thought I was better today so tried out some time at the unit. I am not better, this is something I have learned the hard way. Some progress was made. First up, those door mirrors. Even though I was the most careful person in the world I still managed to crack both of the old ones on removal, it became evident straight away why the passenger one wasn't working as it was missing entirely the large adjuster bracket. After evicting a dead wasp and partially built mud nest in the driver's mirror housing I fitted the new lenses and casing. Camera ate some photographs, including the one of the Alba head unit. Never mind. Anyway, since my HBoL arrived I could find out how to remove the gear lever gaiter, snipping through the tie wrap that holds it to the gear knob once I'd unclipped the base from the centre console. Easy pattern piece to replicate and I've already got the materials to do it, shouldn't be too tricky. This old thing cannot be allowed to remain. My suspicion that I'd bought the incorrect colour sunvisor clips was found to be correct, they weren't grey they were just mucky, one of the few things that were. I'll buy those pale beige ones I got on order because these grey ones look really out of place when fitted. Sunroof winder also surprisingly grebby, but cleaned up with no bother. Sunroof still not leaking and fully operational. Gave the sunvisors a wipe over, again they weren't that bad anyway. Carpet got a quick vacuum but it was too cold and I was too ruined to do a proper job, I'll save that for another day. Didn't get as far as fitting the proper radio or taking the aftermarket one out, but I did at least give the knobs a proper clean. Looking forward to installing this. Finally, on the aesthetic side of things, got the brand new number plate fitted and what a massive difference it makes to the front end! I've kept the old dealer plate just in case. My last job was to get the multimeter out. A healthy 14.1 volts at the battery with the car running, dropping to 13.9 when you turn everything on. I'm fairly certain the starting issue is down solely to the starter motor and, as chompy advised when I quizzed him, a possible sticking bendix HMC 1
