Rover 220SLi £300

Up for grabs is the autoshite bike Rover 220. It's a great car that will take you anywhere and I've enjoyed owning it, but want for other stuff means something has to go.

MoTd until November 2015. Phil spent lots getting it through the 2013 MoT and tidied up the bodywork, although some rust is starting to show again on the rear arches. The T-series engine is a corker (oil leak aside), and it has the added benefit of a tow bar with working electrics for all your A-framing needs. Mr_Bollox did LOADS to this, including a replacement engine taken from a later 820 that had 68k on the clock I think. All I've had to do since May is service it, get the handbrake sorted and put two new tyres on the front.

The only issue is some intermittent noise coming from the NS front brakes. It only happens after a bit of spirited driving and late heavy braking, so might just be the pads not seated properly or something. I'll pop the wheel off tomorrow and take a look.

I'm happy to keep hold of it for a bit, if a certain other R8 fancier currently in Ladyboyland wants his go...

A few picktures

Whoever ends up with this will not be disappointed.  It really is a fantastic all-rounder.  Good thing I'm out of space otherwise I'd be sorely tempted to have it back, one of the best cars I've ever owned.

Incidentally, the discs had a bit of a lip on them when I changed the brake pads, it wasn't much of one but I think that might be the cause, a pair of new discs or a quick session with a grinder would probably sort it.  The N/S caliper could be a bit sticky now and again after a long run so might need a little bit of a cleanup.

Keep up, Andy, will you? ;-)  I actually thought you knew and were obtusely referencing the BX Meteor as insider knowledge!!!

Oh, and the Faceache post was correct, I was looking at Jupiter while out with the dog, and saw an actual meteor - the quadrantids.

Fuck me I was right on facebook Cameron, I thought you meant a thing in the sky!

I have removed Facebook from my life after too many photos of peoples dinner so have missed this BX update. Looking forward to more info when it is forthcoming.

If this doesn't get snapped up this place will never recover and get back to what it used to be.

Even at £500 thats a bargain with 11 months ticket, at £300 its a proper January sales valu barg.

FFS. I'm going to have to pretend I haven't seen this thread.

Discount available to a regular shiter.  Would rather see it in good hands than realise £££...

Edit:  once I get shot of the Corsa I'll have spare garage space, so can tuck this away until the spring when people are more likely to have the funds.

YOU'RE NOT HELPING ROB!

If I can get the 940 Turbo plugged in and get the plate off it and sell it I'd be all over this. It appears insurance isn't even too challenging. Gah.

You can insure those on a classic policy nowadays, they cost absolute peanuts !

DO IT !

YOU'RE NOT BLOODY HELPING EITHER!

Got a head gasket to do on the grey 740, accident repairs and MOT to do o the gold 740, welding, brake rebuild and MOT on the 340. And I need to move the 940LPT on. Grrr.

[AS logic] It seems to me that you need a dependable, British car to run around in while you sort out those fragile*, temperamental* Volvos  ! [/AS logic]

I keep coming back to this thread and eyeing the 220 up. R8 Porn!

A fantastic buy for someone, Rob is a top bloke to deal with. speaking as the buyer of his old Sierra Estate.

It was so tempting, I was already planning the fleet shot of P4 and R8 side by side. I had a dilemma for a few days since this ad went up- buy this or a new carpet set for the P4. Unsually for me I now have a claret red interior carpet set being made up rather than another Rover on the fleet.
