Cars you didn't know existed until very recently.

The Datsun Figroll, Pao and S'cargo were all bizarre, and largely all automatics, and built on the Micra platform, and rot even worse than a proper Micra underneath

Nope, non of them... If it wasn't for the R plate I would have thought that Fiat had bought out a recreation of the early Topolino.

Another car I have never seen before, the owner said he was not surprised as he thinks only 6 or 7 were built.

M.C. Acer kit, this one built by the owner built from Vauxhall Firenza mechanics and Dolomite dash by the current owner.

You know that bug eyed Corolla they did?

A saloon one of them. The rear looked utterly at odds to the front end, like a surprised expression and a dreary rear. Actually now I think about it, reminds me of an ex.

I only thing I know about them was one appeared in IIRC Car Wars 5 (one of those 80s Motorsport crash compilation VHS') when Jack Ickx drove over some french geezers motorbike after he had fallen off during the Paris-Dakar. I don't know what year, though Google says 1991.

Saw a dropside one of these on the way home yesterday. LDV on the rear X member caught my eye. No idea they existed. Do they still have the old LDV plant or just the name?

What a mess, it's got to be a niche market surely, there can't be many people that look at that and think 'what a fine looking motor vehicle'.

Not Toyota's finest Corolla moment.

Go to Dublin and you are guaranteed to see a booted Corolla.

Is that LDV SUV 2wheel drive only?

It looks like it, no mention of 4wd. That may be because of two reasons...

1  Because it would never be used for the school run.

2  Because the 4wd has not arrived yet.

The t60 ute seems to be only 4wd and that will be the same platform as the SUV.

I saw a Kia Stinger today.   Modern and don't want, I know, but it must be the first car in the last 10 years or so that actually made me look closer at it.   I thought it was one of those Tesla things at first but its nicer looking than that.   This one was like a dark Nightfire red colour.    Its how I would have imagined a 21st century Jagwah to look....

Perusing manky french chod on LBC I beheld this mighty tin box on wheels. Clearly Citroen's answer to the Trafic.

AKA the Fiat 242 which was built from 1974, so a bit earlier than the Trafic...

fiat-242-m-02.jpg

Wikipedia says "...Fiat 242 was a van which was produced by Fiat from 1974. This van was the result of a cooperation with Citroën and was sold under the name Citroën C35 in France. Both vehicles were produced in Italy till 1987 with Fiat engines, and then in France by Chausson, when Fiat discontinued the 242. Citroën retained the model until 1992. This cooperation was the precursor of Sevel..."

The best ice-cream on the Calais seafront can be obtained from a C35.  It was the furthest away from where we were parked, but naturally we ignored the closer modern vans!

I'm deeply, deeply sorry for saying this...

...but I rather like the look of that.

A grille.  Round headlights facing forwards.  Recognizable bumpers.  Tyres with a bit of sidewall,  Even the wheels are nice.

Even the name evokes a 1950s Standard.
