There's a long thread on this website about the restoration of that car here 1974 Standard Gazel - Restoration - Team-BHP Seems like a sensible way forward for dear old Standard/Triumph - but in the usual muddled way of the UK motor industry they just went ahead and produced a different car to compete with one they were already making - the 1500/Toledo which they made in FWD and then changed to RWD. Genius. A 4-dr Herald looks a useful thing. I can imagine that would have sold quite well. Really suited to developing countries as could be made from multiple small pressings. Are they still making Morris Minor parts in Sri Lanka? Shep Shepherd, MiniMinorMk3 and egg 3

vulgalour Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Eadon Green Zeclat. It's £550,000-1,000,000 and they put those wheels and that grille on it. Funnily enough - FB Marketplace just offered up a white one - maybe trying to tell me something I'd give it better marks for looks than the 407 too - definitely a better looking back end.
Supernaut Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 It's not much of an achievement for it to be better looking than the 407 coupe and its basking shark mouth. The 406 coupe, though? Still perfect. TataBobu, garethj and AnthonyG 3
