Chevrolet Marajo

Chevrolet Ipanema

The Marajo looks like one of those generic cars from an insurance advert.

It's like a Nova nose grafted on a Chevette.

Weird.

I don't know what market the Astra badged as Ipanema was sold in, but the name sounds like an unpleasant medical procedure.

It's Brazilian named after a beach fronting district of Rio and, more importantly, it's where the girl came from.

Mondo Exploito: The Girl From Ipanema

Factoid; 'The girl from Ipanema' is the lift musak at the end of the Blues Brothers.

And many, many other lifts and on crap radio on stations near you. (Ooh on the 7th!)

I think the director John Landis used it in a few films for scenes in a lift.

Airplane II: The Sequel uses similar verisons of Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head & McArthur Park.

The Family guy Star Wars spoof Blue Harvest has a muzak version of the Imperial March in a lift onboard the Death Star.

Schulz Mercedes 190.20200430_180438.jpg.162d304c3f1cfd0ee8354f9c24ed0602.jpg

Apparently Schulz also built a cabrio version of the 190E with a 5litre V8.image.jpeg.b520bb003a4421aa5a6163184643b25c.jpeg

I vaguely remember these from my spanish childhood.

It does look like a Playmobile toy.

Alfasud Giardinetta:

Nice one, I‘d forgotten those existed. I saw one for sale at a specialist dealer  in Germany ca. 1993 and remember looking in wonder at the crazy Alfasud ergonomics such as the heater fan being on the windscreen wiper stalk if memory serves correctly. It’s the only Giardinetta I think I‘ve ever seen on the road.

Yes I did, had one in the early 90's - 'mine' popped up as a barn find on Facebook about a year ago so its still around, and looks just as shite as it did when i had it

I've only ever seen one of those 'Suds in the flesh, was outside a small town Alfa dealer near Rimini.

I must have a photo of it somewhere.

Any photos of it?

First thought:  They did a Skyhawk wagon on this platform?

Second thought:  I wonder if you can put the Skyhawk front on a Mk2 Cavalier to make a droopsnoot-alike that never was.

That's like a tiny baby little Iso Grifo.

It reminds me of the Panther 6 which looked like lady Penelope's daily driver if Thunderbirds was brought back in the late 1970s.

Yep it's a Sierra. But it only has one mirror. Weird Portuguese spec? Doesn't look broken off

Early UK base Sierras had only one mirror as standard (someone presumably ticked the option box for a second one on GVG510Y) but of the dangly type.  That Portugese example seems to be the internally adjustable sort.

Being a police car, it could well be a non-standard spec.
