Don't ask me what is going on there, I stole the pictures off Facebook.

It’s the bastard offspring of a Fiat 500 and a Moggie Minor.

Ooh, what's that?

Locally built, and is it metal or fibreglass? I recall a South American built version of the Mini that was fibreglass.

I know it's wrong, but I quite like it.

Ah, you obviously don't have a copy of this, after which no Spanish microcar will be 'unknown' to you!

There were a few versions of the Ford Bantam in South Africa

Apparently fibreglass, mounted on a floorpan/frame of a Brazilian Chevrolet Opala and also using their 6 cyl engine.  Looks nicely done but the stance is distinctly un-Pagoda, no doubt as a result of the Opala's live rear axle.

Not so much didn't know it existed but didn't know this name and been used on that car but.....

Remember the original Vauxhall Belmont, Opel Kadette saloon in Europe, well it was sold in South Africa as an Opel Monza? Weird!

Oh gosh, it's a Dodge Caravan rebranded as a Volkswagen, and given the anagram name of Routan

I knew about the Chevolet Monza...

Which obviously is a Mk2 Cavalier that was also available as a Coupe which we didn't get.

The J type. A real international superstar.  Also see Opel Ascona C, Pontiac Sunbird, Holden Camira, Buick Skyhawk, Cadillac Cimmaron, Isuzu Aska, and Even the Toyota Cavalier.

Mostly similar but front end styling usually different.

At one time my addiction to mk2 cavaliers meant I was obsessed by them.  Not so much now.

Tavascan. Like an ID4.

Whenever I see one I'll be calling it a Gaviscon now, though!

The TV ads for this heap featured model/actress Brooke Shields waffling on and on about “German Engineering.”

What German engineering?  It’s a fecking Chrysler!

I think they sold around a dozen or so in total!

I only discovered this weekend that the new electric Ford Explorer is actually a VW underneath.

Did you discover that they & the crapi are overflowing the compounds due to buyer apathy

I'm not surprised, people buy electric cars because;

A. They care about the environment

So don't want an SUV

B. They are excited by new technology

So want something that feels fresh, those not put off by the dickhead in charge might buy a Tesla.  Others might buy one of the new Chinese brands or something that looks interesting from Citroen or the Koreans or pretty much anything that isn't a Ford or Vauxhall.

C. They want lower running costs

I can't see an expensive Ford SUV winning this either.

D.  They want to look flash.

Aside from the Mustang, they aren't buying a Ford are they?

What Ford need to chase are the loyal customers who've been buying Fords for years.  My parents have a Focus and a Fiesta.  About 65% of cars I remember my dad buying are Fords. ( I can't remember my grandad owning anything else ).  I can't see him buying an SUV but , much like me I can see him getting something electric next time.

I still don't understand why Ford scrapped the Fiesta entirely instead of replacing it with a new electric model. Not everyone wants an 'SUV'. A small car suits some people's needs and tastes just fine, and Ford has completely abandoned those people - as you say, some of whom will have been buying Fords for decades.

No, inappropriate, Gaviscon is supposed to stop you feeling bilious.

Vauxhall offer electric Corsas and Astras.  Ford are about to discontinue the Focus as well.

Isn’t it purely the fact that it’s easier to pack the batteries in underfloor in an SUV design?
