That is err...interesting. The unfinished last one recently sold for a mere £888 after sitting in Barrie Price's garage for 30 years. He didn't give up though and tried again in 1998 with the 30/230, but only the one prototype was ever made. That's perhaps for the best as it looks like a Marcos had a one-night stand with a Jag S-type.

Is the silver one not a tarted MX5?

I doubt they saw it that way.

It does look like one but apparently not. Designed by Jim Randle (not one of his better efforts) and all bespoke aluminium with a Vauxhall V6. Hard to tell but I suspect it's a fair bit bigger than an MX5.

I didn't know GLAS were sold in the UK. Were the BMW badged GLASes after they brought them ever sold here?

Renault Safrane. I didn't know it was a thing. I've got no recollection of ever seeing one either.

Really comfortable cars. I briefly had one a couple of years ago and it had a five-cylinder Volvo engine.

The last 'family' holiday with the parents was to Brittany in 1982.  One chap in a Sunbeam 1500 was very excited to see our bright red Avenger...

A 240?

I'm sure I mentioned it before, but I love obscure Euro 4x4s, like the Foers Ibex, VW Itlis, the old Duster, the UMM Alter, and Steyr Daimler Puch Haflinger.

I've just discovered the Volvo C303 (below), from the boxy land tank design era. The Swedish do have some unfeasibly sexy looking military designs, like the S Tank and Saab Viggen (which was based* on the 900).

Well, every days a school day. Obviously knew about the Safrane, but didn't know about the Volvo engine. Also that they used transverse engines. Assumed they'd be end on, like their 25 predecessors.

Ah yes, my godfather in the South of France spent years trying to buy one he found sat in a dealership forecourt over there. Bright red gone matte, and what looked like home painted white stripes on the top it was a bit of a mess but the guy was asking 20k for it 🙄

Looks like someone described a Jag XJS to an American over the phone and this was the result.

With the usual American habit of a wheelbase borrowed from something a few years older, to save money.

Looks like a manta b to my eye.

The DS9 is weirdly intriguing to me, shame they don't sell it with the most powerful engine here. I could see myself owning one for a 20th of it's original price in 3 years (they are surprisingly pricey).

That quote made me think- is that some sort of weird governmental mandate?

Austin did the same thing too, sold the big engines to Australia and South Africa and left the 1098 versions to the UK.

Chrysler sell their cars there, but fit only a 2 litre diesel instead of the 5.7 hemi V8.

What's that all about?
