I wouldn't even know where to go to buy a new Peugeot locally these days, even if I wanted one.

Charles Hurst? Isn't that the answer to everything up there? :D

Why do cars, I mean ordinary family cars, need to look like they are about to attack you? #freethecurve

I reckon psychologists could have a field day when discussing contemporary car design...

In uncertain times, I think there's a subconscious desire to appear aggressive in an attempt to divert possible attack.

Possibly this explains the rise in massive trucks and SUVs, - and also the latest spy shots of the 2020 Range Rover Evoque…

Hell, probably... there used to be plenty of Pug dealers locally (Regency Cars in Newtownards; Turtles of Ballymena to name but two) but yeah, they've probably all been gobbled up by the Charlie Hurst leviathan...

Since the Hurst complex on the Boucher Road is now basically a small town, I'd never go near it now for fear of not being allowed out unless I sign a finance deal on a Quashcow... their roadfront stuff is all Jaguar, Porsche and Maserati so no wonder I haven't seen many 508s!

What you really need for an amphibious car called Salamader is for it to be designed by Peter Wheeler after he was bored when he sold TVR.

Presume the project died when he did in 2009.

I think that one was called Scamander - I remember Evo magazine doing a piece on it.

Sounds stupid I know, but I genuinely didn't realise Peugeot had launched a second generation of the 508 until this drove past me this morning.

Wikipedia sez they launched earlier this year...
I wouldn't even know where to go to buy a new Peugeot locally these days, even if I wanted one.
The only dealerships I know are all BMW, Audi or Range Rover, each banging on about their low low monthly PCP payments...
Still, looks a tidy enough thing. One for my Jalopy 2040 list, quite possibly.
That's the problem , they want £30k for it , into Audi BMW territory , as you said pcp is the way most people go , now Pug and the rest will stop doing rhd drive if not enough selling , so in 2030 we won't be able to buy old chod like this.

FTFY.

My granddad bought a Mini not long before he pegged it in the 1970s from Lookers.

Some sort of Fiat 128 coupe Pulsar thing.  Maybe some 70s Lancia styling in there.

It's a mystery to me but looks interesting.

It all looks good until you get to the end of the rear window, then it goes a bit like:c00fd4db7307ae3dc506811e2cb38693.jpg.6ea83d5ffc703875a5318ae48a4bcec0.jpg

It's like they couldn't make up their mind about what to do at the back, so they did everything.  Michelotti concept from the early 70s, based on a 1300 Fiat 128 coupé, mechanically speaking: https://www.ruotevecchie.org/fiat-128-pulsar-1971/

Probably because it didn't need changing - the 128 3P coupe was a great design. (3P = 3 porta?)

Really like this one.  Neat little steel sunroof too.  Why don't they make basic little cars like this anymore?

Badge says Simca.  Every day's a schoolday.

There's a derelict one of those in Dollywobbler's Horopito Motors video. That one has a less neat sunroof though (watch the video and you'll see what I mean).

Apologies for the American-themed post but I know you all love something a bit different.

I'm currently in The States and doing a bit of research on the whole GM brand and all the sub-divisions that were dissolved throughout the consolidation of the company in the 90s/00s.  One victim of the cull was the Oldsmobile brand, founded in 1897.  Towards the end of their final demise in 2004, they were making some typically American comfy, albeit rather soulless, barges.  To mark the end, each model left in the lineup was given the runout treatment badged as the "Final 500".  500 of each model that came in this stunning cherry red colour, with lashings of beige leather and wood, plus badges that harked back to the very first Oldsmobile emblem.  The Silhouette, which is the "minivan" in the pictures below actually only made it to 360, because of lack of demand and pressure by GM on the production line for the Chevrolet version of it.  The Aurora would be my choice, it came with a silky 4 litre V8 and would look right at home in a retirement village with "I Support Trump" campaign stickers on it.

A sad end to a brand with such a rich history.

I wonder how many 4.0 V8 Vauxhall Sintras they would have sold over here?

Volvo 145 Express.  Not a one off, as I initially thought, available in several variations on a theme.

I’d imagine that Volvo express exists because of Dutch commercial vehicle tax laws that relate to volume and height. There were LR Discoveries with roofs like that in the early 90s.
