Winter Shiters 2014/2015!

All this talk of pouring water over icy screens doesn't work well when the ice is on the inside. It tends to drip off before the ice has melted.

I don't miss the daily winter ritual I had one year in Aberdeen of having to thaw out the door lock of my X1/9!

Just dont lock your doors. Problem solved.

Aero blades aren't really an option. I think they look shite on stuff that isn't meant to have them. Will listen to conventional brand recommendations though.

Drivetec blades are shit . Trico seem quite good . Im conducting a trial on a few customers cars with different brands . This will tell me which ones to stock in the future.

Halfords own do me fine, but not sure as to their longevity as I tend to change them every 6 months on my keeper shite.

I've certainly had decent results with Halfords own. It's just the brain-meddling agony of having to go to Halfords that's the issue.

£9.99 heated seat cover purchased tonight along with a new pair of wipers for the MicraShed from Lidl, oh and some groovy LED beacon thing. Not quite sure what Im going to do with that but it looks pretty ace.

Lidl wipers are surprisingly good, as is Lidl screenwash. My recent experiences with Bosch and Valeo blades have been very disappointing, their quality is far from what it used to be...

The heated seat covers sound good for the money.

However, seen as the vectra needs new glow plugs (I am not spending because they are a PITA to replace and may necessitate the head coming off if they snap), spending £9.99 on heated seat covers is akin to moving deck chairs on the titanic.

I have just had new wiper blades fitted though.

Denso beam style wiper blades are teh shizzle, availavble in all the wrong sizes at ECP.

I run a set of all season Bridgestones and I've been very impresses with them so far in the 2 cold days we've had since I brought them 16 months ago.

I bought one of those heated seat covers for a mate here, it lasted about a week. Before that I retrofitted heater pads into my first 406, they fared rather better. I also put a sump heater on it, I think it did something but I couldn't say for sure.

Heated seat covers sound like a modern day giffer trinket. GR9 for drying out your trousers after a 'senior moment'..

Thin skin of ice on the windscreen this morning, rest of the car was fine though. I'm sure I felt the front end scrabble slightly on a corner on the way to the M40 too, eased off slightly and had no issues for the rest of the journey.

Must try harder:)

320 was not frozen this morn. Gawd bless neighbours evergreen tree-keeping it just above freezing

Rover 220 apart from the odd time it takes ages to start (again, send to have cured itself) its a great winter car with a great heater from two miles in.

Me the princess's metro had as much water on the inside of the screen as the outside does. Also the heater is pants, so one of those suede sponges is needed every morning. That said skinny 12 inch wheels would be good if it snows.

Fearing the best I left the house at 7am, to give me plenty of time to get to work for 9... our road was crap as I was the first person out, but the main roads were fine. Still took it a bit easy, having never driven this car in the snow before, and had something big and german up my arse. Let it slide a bit on the first corner and he backed right off, so that worked! Got to work at 20 to 8, so bit of a letdown there! Hardly snowed at all in Marlow

There was snow this morning. Snow on both cars. Didn't bother to take picture. Not working today so don't care!

I took it in readiness to show my boss when I couldnt get in. Sadly I could get in, so showed it to everyone moaning about 1/4 of the amount we had!

It's all melted now in Marlow, SWMBO says it's still in abundance at home, although the roads are ok now

Melted here about 11 am. Looks like more is waiting to come down. The Excitment*! The Chaos*! The Thrill*!
