Go To a chrysler main dealer for genuine spares.

The prices will make you wish you had bought something else.

Hey Eddy, nothing personal intended by anyone I'm sure.   Theres plenty of hate for other stuff sometimes around here but I don't get wound up by it. I have a VAG group daily which I love but apparently is nothing but shit. Meh.

Anyway, after reading this thread this morning I went into town for lunch and ended up sat behind one which was obviously new to the owner and was just starting its transformation to mock Yank spaceship. The B pillars had been blinged up with chrome as had the rear lights and side repeaters. I'm sure it won't end there for it.

There's loads of erm 'uncomplimentary' remarks about all manner of cars on here (see VW and Vauxhall, for example) and stereotyping

And when it comes to being uncomplimentary about the so-called "premium German" brands I'm probably the most guilty person on the whole forum; by some considerable distance.  My views, however unfashionable, have been formed by experience.  Never, in all my time here (which I have consistently enjoyed) have I seen so much naked hatred for one model.

I responded to what I thought was a genuine request for information, with an honest review based on personal practical experience.

I dunno, you try to help someone, and he wanders off and buys a Triumph....

Ah, you've been suckered into the classic trap of speaking from experience. This never works on the internet, you absolutely HAVE to become e-Conan and tell everyone how shit things are when you haven't actually tried them.

But Cruisers are awful. Not even Dick Emery awful, either. Just awful. I know this because I've seen some about, so that's internet fact, and internet fact wins everything.

Well it was only 200 quid to be fair. Restored 7 years ago by a friend of mine, plus it is tax exempt. I was given it by a woman in Henly who used to take her elderly mum for runs out. It belonged to some bloke with a big estate in Virginia Water beforehand, he was a KBE or something. I sold it to my mate's then fiance, he spent a lot of cash on it. Sadly they have now split and the car was up for grabs just to get rid. Oddly enough, I sold it to make way for the Toledo I have also recently bought back. Oooh, that's a bit weird. 2 former cars bought back. I NEVER do that.

Still watching the PT on ebay, even if it is silver. I quite like the styling when unadorned with chrome. Not sure am liking the 500 quid clutch or 300 quid battery scenario though.

Here you go:

She needs a little TLC but she has stood up well and will have a full MOT when she comes back to North London.

I can't remember ever trying to look like Dog, or even Beth, but if you know my life better than I do you're welcome to post your evidence.

The sheer quantity of vitriol is drowning my sense of humour here.

To be insulted by that you would have to be one of the people that fit into the category I state below:

"Sadly as they have become cheaper they have become the car of choice for line dancing, overweight 'biker gang' wannabies."

Unless you are one of those people what's your beef? I am merely stating the obvious. A lot of people who drive these cars (well the ones that turn up at shows) are like that. They are pretty much the public representation of the PT Cruiser, especially for us poor sods that see the fuggin things at 'classic' car shows (this is different to the Princess situation okay.....).

ISIS don't represent the whole of the Muslim world but they are the ones everyone knows about at the moment and 99% of Muslims think that those lot are a bunch of idiotic twats and would happily agree with anyone who suggested that they were.  I am sure Baptists don't get upset when people suggest the Westboro Baptist Church are a bunch of absolute fuckwits despite them being the only Baptists I can name (other than John).

We gets whole groups of these turn up at classic car shows and as said all blinged up with plastic chrome  , how these things get in or are " classics " is beyond me .

Burn the fucking lot of em

Oh dear, somewhere round about page 4 my opinion of this car shifted somewhat. Must stop reading this thread.

I did always want a Crossfire. John H Gills down the road was a Chrysler dealer, Daihatsu before that. I blame them for my Crossfire wantage. Bet they're affordable now too!

Despite having had a PT Cruiser as a hire car in Sardinia a few years ago, I don't hate them as much as I apparently should.  It was a diesel, awkward to park and utterly tedious to drive.  I have not given them any attention since, probably because my name isn't Hank and I hate line dancing.  The Nissan Puke on the other hand is so absolutely ugly that I can't look at them or park near one.

Autoshite banned motors:

Vauxhalls

VAG

Chrysler

Iveco

I'm teetering on the brink of asking you to add Previa to that list, Billy.

I reckon those PT Cruisers don't look that bad, especially when stacked against other "retro" nonsense from about the same time.

Unfortunately there lurks a massive design flaw that can make them uncontrollably magnetic to plastichrome giffer trinkets and other tat. When you meet line dancing Gerald "Hank" Dullard he's actually just trying to find a way of stopping loads of plastic shit sticking to his Chrysler.

There should be support groups.

For the record, I have a pot belly, lived on a council estate for 15 years, dress like Elvis and listen to 50s rock and roll and Western music 24/7.  My wife teaches line dancing and I commuted in a five litre Pontiac for seven years.  We spend every holiday in a faded English seaside resort, have never owned a vehicle capable of out-cornering a badly-loaded Luton van nor spent more than £1769 buying a car, including the cost of a Confederate flag sticker.  I STILL would not have a PT Cruiser.....

I bought a pt cruiser for the missus, it was spacious, practical, and had great aircon, the rest was shite, it had the turning circle of a bus so was a pain to park, it was slow, noisy, uneconomical and ate suspension parts on a weekly basis.

Was good for the tip run as you could take all the rear seats out.

It got sold pretty quickly and I bought a Zafira, which was better but still shite.

Reading through this, i am certain the  PT will be the Tagora of the next auto shiter generation , just wait 20 years and you will see.

I have never, even for a fleeting moment, seen the slightest retro or "lifestyle" element to the design of these (other than the van with windows lifestyle, which does seem to be a thing). They look as if the designer just wanted to make a big box on wheels, which would be fine by me, but I can't see them as a car you would actually show off.

Was good for the tip run as you could take all the rear seats out and fit a bike in to cycle home on.

I have actual experience of a PT Cruiser. Used to "cruise" around Tripoli in one. (There are loads of them there for some reason). The rear light clusters kept getting stolen. The Libyans said that junkies who lived under the bridges were doing the stealing. Never really understood that. What junkies? Which bridges?  Anyway, quite liked the upright "feel" of it. And the retro interior. Probably the reason I went for a Chevy HHR in the next country. I think the PT Cruiser and HHR vans look great. Have considered using a vinyl wrapped or black PT Cruiser with blacked out rear windows and sign-writing as an advertising van in the UK.

PT Cruiser cabriolet for the ultimate in kool.

That 1500 looks cracking. Almost makes up for having to wade through all those pictures of PTs to get to it...

Here in the States, searching my local cheap secondhand car listings always turns up a plethora of used PT Cruisers.  You can buy a whole fleet of the damn things for pocket change!

Also, you don't look like a fat kiddy fiddler or a council estate Elvis, so you're the wrong 'lifestyle choice' for one of these hideous heaps of wank.

Something tells me I'd love to meet Council Estate Elvis!

There's a rock 'n' roll bar on Southend seafront that has one of these parked up outside, covered in tat and signwritten for the bar. They could have chosen, oh, a Chevy Bel Air, Ford Zodiac, Vauxhall Victor, but instead they chose one of those POS. Then again the daft lady who drives it once pulled out of Asda right in front of my Somerset causing me to slam my brakes on to avoid her, so maybe it's for the best that she doesn't have anything more interesting.

Those Peewees merit my contempt, but no more than the BINI, Fart500, NeuBeetle dross offering individualistic blandness. I saw 6 of the things while out and about on Saturday, none were modified apart from 1 plastic skull hanging from a mirror, the highlight was a thirty something guy in a convertable with the stereo turned all the way up to 'notice me'. He looked a right haemorrhoid.
