barefoot Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Oh dear, this place isn't what it used to be etc.
barrett Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Hey, we fitted a replacement bit of trim there last week! EVERYTHING'S FINE
Fat_Pirate Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I've been doing some number crunching. If the original purchaser of this A8 had instead spent the money on a beige Austin Allegro and Apple shares, they would now have an attractive* and desirable* British classic car, and $1.7M dollars. barrett, oman5, Uncle Jimmy and 1 other 4
barrett Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 This thing is hanging around like a bad penny. Anyone want to make an offer? I think £1200 would probably take it. It's bloody amazing, c'mon guys
worldofceri Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 That's dangerously close to an amount I could afford. There's no way I could afford to maintain it though. I've already failed at Mercedes E class ownership.
barrett Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 This was provisionally sold to a GERMAN, who has spent the last three weeks dicking around and generally wasting everyone's time so it's now back up for grabs if somebody makes a sensible offer. Went out in it the other day and it really is one of the nicest cars out there, and other than the crack in the bumper is looks virtually brand new. It's also mind-mindbogglingly quick. It would break for more than it's worth as a complete car, but that would be a huge shame as it is almost certainly unique in this colour/spec. All offers considered, no swaps though soz (unless it's a mint Citroen Ami 6 Berline)
Magnificent Rustbucket Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I am surprised this hasn't been snapped up, but I guess a huge old Audi is like an old Jag or any other big old saloon in that they're cars everyone likes seeing out and about, but very few people want to actually own. Vast amount of car for the money!
cort16 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I would really love this but I'd need to employee a hostage negotiator to be able to get away from wife and little baby for long enough to fly down to brighton and drive this back up the road. EssDeeWon 1
HillmanImp Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I would really love this but I'd need to employee a hostage negotiator to be able to get away from wife and little baby for long enough to fly down to brighton and drive this back up the road. Is there maybe a delivery service available?
barrett Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 It could get to Gloucestershire quite easily, but that's as far Norff as we go on a regular basis. It could be there on Friday, in fact, if there was some cash to cover fuel costs...
cort16 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 My mate lives in Brighton and will probably be coming back to scotchland at Christmas. I'm trying to sew the seeds but previously he got so pissed off with driving from glasgow to Brighton he sold his car.
skattrd Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Yes, but driving from Brighton to Glasgee in a V8 waftobarge wouldn't be too much of a chore. HillmanImp 1
barrett Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 It would be a ruddy pleasure! Cort, if you're serious, send me a PM. I'm sure delivery could be arranged!
PiperCub Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 About the only Audi i like, and i really like the colour. Tyres alone suggest the car had been cared for, 4 matching good makes are the first thing i look for (and 4 mismatched badly worn kerb scuffed ditchfinders see me running away), nice colour, good leather, well worth looking at, GLWT.Exactly what he said!!! (A8's make me think of the chase sequence in the movie 'Ronin' - the S8 being drifted around the streets of Paris).Esp wrt to the matching tyres, invariably the sign the previous owner gave a crap, was not a cheapskate and was prepared to spend money which usually reflects in the condition of the rest of the car.Shame I'm just not in the market for a beater at the moment.
barrett Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 This thing is still here! Passed its MoT with flying colours and is now fully tested until Jan '16. Unfortunately there is now a crack in the windscreen in the driver's eyeline so this will be an issue come January. Price reduced for the last time to an eye-watering £750.... No offers, no swaps. It's this or sell to the A8 breakers in Yorkshire. Anyone? (Delivery service available within reason) Cavcraft and Jerzy Woking 2
Volksy Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Grrrrrr, I've wanted one of these for years. Sadly I've one V8 barge already, Shame there is no swaps etc. DVee8 1
stillOrange Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Just curious what price this would fetch at breakers... RAFFLE!
Six-cylinder Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 You got me interested until I checked the insurance!

sporty-shite Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Sporty-Shite? Over budget, unfortunately. Which is a shame, because I've driven one of these, and they are officially ACE. Cavcraft 1
Partridge Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 That's better than my Starion lol.George Best probably drinks less than a Starion! JohnK 1
HMC Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 This is a bit wishful, but would anyone insure this as a 'classic' on a limited mileage policy? Back when this was registered, various brokers would wave stuff in on classic policies as long as it was over 10 years old. They seem to have got wise to this sadly.
