My pride and joy! Have loved Capris since I was a kid and have owned 15 of them over the years post-17378-0-19107200-1409562054_thumb.jpgpost-17378-0-55658300-1409562269_thumb.jpgpost-17378-0-57087900-1409562416_thumb.jpgpost-17378-0-51573900-1409562500_thumb.jpgpost-17378-0-52467400-1409562576_thumb.jpgpost-17378-0-47136000-1409562688_thumb.jpgpost-17378-0-43669100-1409562755_thumb.jpg

A mate had a very tatty John Player Special years ago, the rusted out passenger door was replaced with a blue oneĀ

Fairly high Junkman although not as prohibitive as the OMG scene tax on Escorts!

Lovely stuff, the Capri still has that 'thing' about it where they look as class as always did back in the day.

I had a couple: a Mk2 1.3 with a 1.6 X flow, a Mk2 1.6 OHC (spares car) a Mk3 3.0S and a couple of Lasers, 1.6 and 2.0 I think.

Ā

I'd absolutely heart a 3.0E or GXL, or most of all an early Mk1 which I think had Escort rear lights, as opposed to the Mk1.5.

That's very nice! Don't see many mk2's around.

I've got a 74 mk2 myself, in roman bronze. But mines a wimpy 1.6L version! I bought mine for Ćƒā€šĆ‚Ā£100 nearly 15 years ago, before all the scene tax bollocks.

Here's a shite photo of mine! It's the only pic I've got at the moment.

Anyone else got the theme to 'The Professionals' echoing round their heads right now?

Ā

Oddly, hated Capris back in the day, but growing to like them now. Age-thing?

Proper 70s style cross spokes with nice fat tyres, none of yer shit modern 16" RIMMZ that so many folk seem to be spoiling old 70s tat with these days. White lettering FTW too. :)

From the film "bad taste"?

Has one of the best quotes ever - "They died today - murdered by some real arseholes".

Would love a v6 capri but in the UK they are getting prohibitively expensive.

Ā

Some people are asking jensen interceptor money - I know what I would rather have. Leather and V8 as standard.

I think Essex V6 will concur that shit modern wheel syndrome is very much a 'thing' over here, especially with old American cars. Nice to see the Capri unashamedly bucking that trend. I don't think this could be bettered in terms of colour - period decals really make it. Hopefully I'll get to see it in the metal some day!

Sadly I had to replace the epic old Goodyear's as they were over 10 years old. The new Toyos grip much better but took a bit of getting used to not having the white lettering!

I am in based in Auckland

Will defo need to catch up Jon!

I've just realised that Mk2's are now my favourite shape Capri. When nobody wanted them, I just followed the herd and ignored them, I once scrapped an immaculate P reg 2000S after raping it for its engine, box and struts which I nailed into a rotten Escort. I've had a couple of GXL's and even a few mk 3's but now I have serious want for a mark 2 3000 JPS- I blame this horny brown muthaflippa.

That carpi is luvverly. Although some dismiss the Essex as a boat anchor as it's slower than a 2.8, I luv em..that effortless low end stump pulling torque never gets old.

I have seen that Gold Ghia on Trade Me Jon - looks like a nice old bus and see it had a 5 speed box fitted. The brown one in the Capri Club photo is actually a 3.0GT owned by a guy in Aucklandpost-17378-0-58936800-1409731513_thumb.jpg
