Just curious as to who on the board currently is running the leggiest motor.

I won't be highest by a long chalk I suspect... But my MG ZT has turned 160k, the Alfa is on 99k and cortina on 70k

Highest I've owned was a skoda superb on 236k

Mine is on 265,012!

Meriva is on 79k, hopefully we wont have it when it reaches 80

After all the speedo swaps and years of wilderness I have no idea what my old chod has been up to.....However my 1990 190E has yet to see 99,000 whereas my 1987 VW T25 just clocked up 143,000.   Quite leggy for one of those....

My RS1600i has covered something like 228K. :-)

My highest is my mk2 Granada at 190k. (Got the old mots to prove!).

Next is my Capri at 130k, then (when it eventually arrives) the Mercury at 82k, and finally my mk2 Transit which sits at a pathetic 18k, yes really, eighteen thousand miles since 1984!

Astra at 115K, Sierra at 192K, and Viva at 152K.

Not a lot original in the latter two though.  No prizes for me I think.

Audi on 203k for me. Allegro on 47k and maestro on 28k. I don't believe my series land rover trip counters.

Some years ago had a 205 diesel (non-turbo) that had 316K on it when was sold - still drove unbelievably well. Probably should have kept it! French shite at it's finest.

Discovery at 156k, Stellar at 186k, BX at 232k and van on 246k miles. So an average of 204k miles between them, not counting the Kangoo as that's not shite. Yet...

253k on a Bmw 525 Tds tho I suspect the crank thrusts were shagged by then caused by 80k with a very heavy clutch. Not me!

In the last 5 weeks went to Le Mans and Nurburgring 24H, 3200 miles in total, good cruiser to the last.

I'm not going to be a winner here.....

R4 on 76k, Toledo on 95k. Mazda isn't shite yey but has a miserable 36k on it thus far.

197k on my XM, 147k on the Wifes Multipla

'87 - Porsche 944S 266,000

'79 - VW T2 - 164,000

Both on their original engines.

The '87 Scirocco is a babe at just 127,300

I think it's down  to oil changes.

84k on the Montego, 130k on the 940, 153k on the Council Estate, 166k on both the Cavalier and the 850; average 139,800 miles.

191k on the Celica, still going strong

Just shy of 147k on the Vanilla breeze block but I reckon it's had a cluster swap. Telly the late 740 was 208k or so but I didn't believe that either.

202,000 on the E280, but the mileage history on the MOT cert' doesn't add up, so I reckon it's done more.

VW has been round the clock at about 141,000 miles.

316 1989- 60,000

620 1997- 175,000

CLK 2000- 80,000

Arosa 2000-75,000

S-Type 2001-225,000

Gaylander 2007- 96,000

500 2009- 55,000

300C 2010-280,000

Admittedly I'm cheating putting my work car in the list,I tend to do a few miles each week, my record in one car was 26,000 in 3 months

This was the end of a not untypical 'day' at that time, the car hadn't been switched off for more than 30 mins in over 30 hours. In my defence there was a fair bit of sleeping with the engine on tick over involved as it was -10 at the time. There was so much salt on the car it looked more white than black.

I do have two high mileage petrols.  Accord is on 192k and the Avensis turned over 200k at the weekend.  I do about 8,000 miles a year now but my wife does more like 15-20k.  Up until 2 years ago I'd do 20k a year and change my car every 10k miles or six months.

Accord has been in the family since 18k so I know what's been replaced and what hasn't.  Apart from the usual consumables, an exhaust downpipe and a pair of front shocks it's all original.  The main fault is a squeaky a/c belt when cold (the a/c is still icy though) and a worn driver's seat and steering wheel.  The first signs of rust are showing on the insides of the front doors where they meet the A-pillar and on the brake pipes - not bad for 14 years old.

The Avensis has been with us for the last 4 years and 75k miles.  It's shedding lacquer like no tomorrow (I'll never have a red car again) and the steering wheel rim is nasty, but the interior is otherwise in good order.  No rust; again, very good for 12 years old.  Burns a little oil but not enough to worry about.

Dieselwise I had a 405 1.9TD with 254k on the clock which frankly was perkier than all the others I had with <200k - one got to 190k but the HG failed across an oilway and was bridged.  Another got to 200k in my ownership then was sold on.  Actually the lowest-mileage one (135k) felt the slowest and most fragile.

I had a 406 1.9TD with 230k on it but frankly it was buggered.  Still it cost me £140 so I can't really complain.

12 years ago I had a 1985 E28 528i with 165k on it which went like a train and looked the business (in Alpine White) when polished up.

Bought a 1990 Volvo 740GLE saloon for my brother about 8 years ago.  £110 with 8 months' MOT (the good old days when scrap was at zero).  It had the usual fault with the instruments; the speedo (which rarely worked) showed 110k but we carbon-dated it with the help of the old MOTs to at least 230k.  Ran like a top.

High mileage holds no fears for me, provided that the car has been well maintained.  All the low mileage cars I've had have caused me more grief.

The highest I've had was a BMW 740i with 272,000 miles on it. It went well to until at 272,124 the gearbox stopped working.

My merc is on a mere 156k. Makes me feel like a rank amateur!

50k on the allegro, 66k on the 360, 71k on the 340, 82k on the mk3 polo, 100k on the mk2 polo and 115k on the Carlton. My previous 240 was on 239k and is still being used on the road by a friend...

Beige Princess - about 79k, but with the amount of work it's needed it's highly likely it's a clocked 179k

Red Princess - 145k genuine seeming miles and still ready to go strong

Xantia - a measly 100k.

The 300E's knocking on the door of 190000, though it's "resting" at the mo, and the Dyane has been slumbering in the garage on around 130000 for the last five years.  The Blingo's on 109 and climbing rapidly, whereas the 205D is a little nipper at 78K.  A rough average of 127K between them.

Domestic Management's C3 has yet to crack five figures, but we try not to talk about that one...

116k on the Suzuki, it's a wee bit tappety, but other than that all good.

105k on the BMW
