For Sale: Dacia Duster, Dacia Shifter, Yugo Sana, Yugo ZLM

I'm undergoing something of a cultural revolution. I need to cease my obsessive hoarding of right-hand drive Comecon shitters and make space for other superior automobiles.

 

Shedding these four will help me to veer constructively from the road to Socialism.

 

Yugo Sana – £500. Runs and drives, but needs light recommissioning. Only off the road for a couple of years. Very presentable, aside from some shit repair work to one rear arch and the roof gutter above one of the rear windows. No pics to hand, but here's one from Wikipedia taken some time ago. It doesn't look any different now.

 

 

Yugo ZLM – £400. One of the earliest right-hand drive cars. No rust to speak of, but needs tidying and recommissioning.

 

 

Dacia Duster – £400. Pretty scruffy. Needs fairly full-on recommissioning and probably a bit of welding.

 

 

Dacia Shifter – £200. Needs thorough restoration.

 

 

They're all near Chippenham, Wiltshire.

The call of the Sana is strong but it's not to be, could be more or less unique now.  Someone on here must be able to have that.  Never heard of the Shifter before but it looks great!

Well the sofa has given up 37p and half a packet of Rolos.  The bank account is looking about the same, although without the Rolos.

 

If the Sana is still available when I next get paid 10 days from now, I'm going to have difficulty overcoming the temptation to head westwards.  Although how I'll get it home is another matter.

Here are some pics of the Shifter's dirtiest bits.

 

 

…so the inner wings and load bay are the main areas of rot. There are plenty of scabs and bubbles elsewhere – but nothing structural, I don't think.

 

It's all there, aside from the grille and headlamp masks. I might be able to help with these at some stage, as I need to do some Romanian shopping for Denem, Sport, ARO and Oltcit bits.

 

Note the scabby Ford Escort RS steering wheel. Deluxe.

 

The tautological Special Edition stickers really do it for me. Did anyone really need to be told that the Shifter – and its driver – were extra special?

 

For those only lightly versed in the automotive achievements of CeauÈ™escu's Romania, the Shifter's most interesting feature is that it's RWD retro drift cool. The gearbox has an output flange and there's a stout axle on cart springs at the back. I've always fancied the idea of grafting these bits into a R12 or Dacia saloon, along with a R5 turbo engine.
