Nissan Figaro's

Mrs fordperv loves the look of these but she would rather have a daihatsu copen over one, my opinion is they are overpriced for what they are.

I can't get the image of women in their fifties who think they look like Sophia Lauren (but actually looking like Sophie Titwank, après les main shandy) being the target audience. Therefore, I'm oot.

These figaros rot like a mid 70's Datsun made of recycled Russian tanks

I've seen rust in odd places at odd heights, I wouldn't worry about sills but "A" post, screen surround and everywhere else you wouldn't expect it on a relatively young car

I do a weekly search for old Japanese cars from 70's/80's/90's and about 60% of the search on ebay is a Figaro! And they're being sold for 3 - 6 grand! There must be hundreds in this country on the forecourts unsold. Nobody wants them at £5k!! They are also turbo charged.

You could get a really decent Micra Super Turbo for less than 5k. Or you could buy her an Audi TT for half that.

The audi TT must be at the bottom of its market value now (if that sort of thing bothers you). A mate of mine bought a nearly new one a dozen years ago and was going to get rid last year for buttons. I dissuaded him.

I do actually like the looks of the Figaro, and would have one like a shot if they were £500. They're not though, so I maintain my anti sentiments.

Ms Catsinthewelder likes them and now they're 20 years old they are classic policy friendly too.  Obviously I'm far too much of a tightarse to blow 3-5k on a shiney one but we're used to rust around here and Micra mechanicals sound like a good plan.  Lack of space and the auto gearbox were the main thing putting me off from a scary looking 'project' that surfaced on the tat thread last year.

I want to say don't do it but if you can afford the 5k, your other half does low miles and can live with auto, as long as you look after it then you should be able to get your money back in a few years time. Itch scratched and a happy wife = win.

Is your GF a hairdresser or investigative journalist who has a rabble of kids following her round who seem to overthrow the invasion of Earth by hyper intelligent aliens every week ?

If the answer to both the above is no then there really is no justification for owning a Figaro. Buy a nice MX5 instead.

Hi Micrashed - She currently has a great little 1996 K11 1.0 GS Auto. The black boot handle snapped a few weeks ago, any idea where I might get one? Its the basic looking black handle, (not the later K11 one with the nissan badge on). Ive been through ebay but no joy there..

Can´t see why they may be hateful. OK, they are a girls car, but nothing wrong with that as long as there are pretty girls driving them...

I like Figaro's, they are very pretty but I wouldn't even think about owning one.

A lass I used to work with had one in pink. She loved it, really enjoyed driving it and looking after it.

I see nothing wrong with that at all  :-)

If I was doing the Micra in drag thing, it would be one of these.

My firend in Brighton  has owned one for the last few years and loves it. They are expensive but I suppose thats because they are in demand. Whilst most of us won't pay that much a lot of people do hence the price.

Another mates wife really wanted one a few years back. Instead he got her a metallic pink Copen which was actually quite a nice car. A couple of days after she got it my mate and I decided to take it for a spin round Nottingham city centre to see what it was like. Whilst sat at a busy set of traffic lights it dawned on us how gay we looked at that moment (i.e. slighly more gay than usual).

My mate was commenting on how bad it was because he knows a lot of people and has clients around here, which made me think that I don't know anyone round here and don't have any local clients, so put my arm round him and went to give him a big kiss and cuddle to further his embarrasment which only drew further attention to us as the lights changed as he was trying to squirm out of my manly embrace.

Friend of mine has one [they're pretty common over here] £3500 got her a really nice one. Pao is a better car, and now more expensive for good ones. There's an Escargot [van version] over here for sale for about a grand.

Kent St breakers yard in Preston has a few K11's in stock. You may get one from there (they have been known to send out by post) but be ware if they pull it for you they will ramp up the costs.

Hmmm, that's rather tricky comments to follow. Thank goodness for google image search...

Yep seems private sales are around £4000 however the dealers are all sitting at 5995 and upwards which is just too much, oh well she has the cash to blow on one while giving up a great little K11 that never says no whether rain snow or shine. As I learnt some years ago, if ya gotta good car then keep it/or add to it :-D

I do like Figaros to look at, don't know if I would like to own one but I'd be happy enough to borrow one.  Personally, I'd want one in pink (metallic, ideally) or black.  Who cares what other people think and whether or not they question your masculinity, if a car makes you happy then you shouldn't care a fig what others think or assume about you.

I also have this theory that if you're a man and interested in making the acquaintance of leggy blonde/busty brunette/dowdy mouse then a Figaro likely has the same knicker dropping potential as two puppies that want hugs from everyone.  I don't base this theory in any sort of fact, just supposition about how the other half do the dating game.

In my experience, vulgalour is pretty much on the money with his observation. Turning up in a cock mobile is likely to confirm her worst suspicions about you, something quirky and/or cute marks you out as a man of taste and credibility. My two best clunge magnets were a 1947 Austin 16, and a Moke.

Believe it or not, so does a knackered faded petrol blue metallic Peugeot 204 Break, guess how I found out etc etc, which has lead me to believe that

ORL TARTS IZ BONKRZ U NO.

They look cute and they raise a smile. As Lukas says, as long as they have pretty girls driving them, they're fine by me. But they're as practical as a curly ruler, so I'll pass.

Drive a pink FigRoll.

Or for the same effect, paint I WANT ATTENTION on the side of a Bedford Rascal.
