I occasionally see a GSX1400 on the A12 or sometimes on the A13 into London. I spoke to the owner last year sometime when it had 140,000 on the clock, and looked cosmetically good. The rider, however, had a neck the size of a tree trunk.......

I used to have, back when I was doing 30-35k a year. Not nearly so much these days when it only did 10k last year. Have been right round europe, as far as Prague, on it. Open face & sunnies are the best way to ride, even if Mrs Hooli prefers to have a small screen on her identical (but clean) bike.

I'm sure it's got loads of miles left, apart from slightly more slack in the gearbox is rides the same as Mrs Hooli's shiney one (girls need two of the same bike you see, one to ride & one with custom paint etc) & that's only got 10k clocked up.

Mind you this thread reminds me, helicoil type things. I need at least half a dozen M6 ones. Any suggestions where best to get them? Half the cam cover bolt holes have stripped because they are made of finest jap cheese, the last one stripped as I did the bolt up finger tight with just an extension bar ffs.

I don't do much leisure riding in the UK now (but commute about 20k), as nearly all is done in Europe. Riding down to Bitov in Czech Republic in May on my 125 scooter, France in June on my CZ250 and the Balkans in August on my 1200 Guzzi.

European roads are so empty and central Europe even less so outside of the main cities. And the weather is usually great.

I got my last lot of helicoil type things from my local fastener place, was about 30 quid but included drill bit, insertion tool, and more m5 inserts than I'll ever use in my life.

Can't remember what make it is but I can look if you want, have just checked on ebay and there are loads for £cheap but who knows if they are any good...

Got to work over Easter with no one else in the building so managed to empty a bit of the storeroom and plonk this on an old trolly in case I get bored and want something to do.

Cheers, I was wavering on the idea of just changing it anyway on the basis that I'm already in there, so now I will.

What would be a good brand to go for, DID maybe?

I use helicoil* kits off of ebay, never had a problem, as good as more expensive kits from traditional vendors.

I had an XR650R supermoto but was fed up with 500 mile oil changes, a shit useless carb, and kickstart only.

Bought a Bhagira, got ride of the strangling end can and did 13,000 miles in six months on it commuting through winter, followed by two trips to Corsica. Was mad to sell it - can't remember why now. Reliable as any bike I've ever owned. Bit lardy compared to other Supermoto, but I'll take reliability and long service intervals over something 20kg lighter and more fragility.

Yo bikeshitters,

Is it possible to get motorbike boots repaired?

The zip has broken on my trusty alpinestars and all the local cobblers have told me they can't help.

A place that does bike leather repairs could probably handle that.  I use this guy but he's in Farnborough.

Cobblers in Stainforth have put my boots back together. Redid about half the stitching on my alpine stars, they are even waterproof again & all for £15.

Yes - the cobblers where I used to live near Leeds specialised in bike gear (did zips in leathers etc as well as boots) and he defo replaced them. He didn't even baulk at putting new velcro on my 25 year old Ashmans so he must be alright

Had my Daytona EVO boots resoled and new zips fitted at City Keys, Lime Street, London EC3. Daytona want £120 just to resoled them. Paid City Keys £100 all in, and an excellent job done-soles will defiantly out last the Daytona ones.

Not much help when you are so far away, but visiting StrangeAngel tomorrow......

Yes, that is defo the work of Raymanboy. I tried to enter into dialogue with him once, believe me it isn't worth it.

Three and a half grand for a 125 MP3, he certainly hasn't got any less puddled.

I want to claim autobikeshiters nutcase award.was meant to be going to a c90 club camping and road run weekend this weekend,in Matlock,Derbyshire, around 110 miles each way

Now my 74 c90 is the black sheep of cubs, its engine known for nipping up if ridden hard for too long, and as it sized once on me after 20 miles before I rebuilt it,I was going slow and checking oil level all the time.It took 7 1/2 hrs to get to Matlock, got lost twice, all my directions being typed onto a laminated sheet clipped to my screen, (pissed it down the whole way,was soaked through to my t shirt) found the campsite, put bike on stand, turned round to get something out my pocket, bang! And the bike has fallen over in the mud because the ground was so boggy.bike covered in mud and screen cracked. At that point I decided there was no way I was camping in this, and all I wanted to do was Gert home,so at 7.30 I turned round and went back, lost my notes but somehow remembered what to head for,got in at midnite. Aside from a blown exhaust gasket, bike was fine,250 miles in total I think, accidentally ended up on a50 and pooed my pants, pissed it down all way home as well.I think if I do another it will be in summer! Still its proved to me that I can tho further than 10 miles on it though!bike didn't overheat and only used 5.5 litres for the whole trip.I've now changed the burnt destroyed exhaust gasket and all is well again.

Still, here's a pic of it in front of Blythwell reservoir newer uttoxeter:

Bonkers. The 6v's definitley like to nip up more than the 12v ones, it's happened to me before with super cool skids as a consequence

^^^good luck with that. I tried talking to him when he was selling a fucked Honda Spacy with the most gash custom paintjob you've ever seen. It was Running When Parked years earlier, and hadn't seen an MOT in a decade, and for this he wanted £2200. I wanted to pay him the going rate for such a machine at the time (£150) but I only succeeded in getting him down to two grand
