Hey check out my latest honk of shite! Just A-framed it home from Bedford to Crewe.

Its a 1994 1.6 GLE, been on eBay a couple of times but no sale, I went down to see it last week but could not contact the seller!!! Well i got in touch with them again and went down tonight.

Its pretty smart, needs a couple of minor welds on the floor but nowt mega, paintwork is very smart and the doors shut beautifully!

Interior is very clean, stinks of chemicals though, it smells exactly like my Hyundai Pony so it must just be the smell of cheap shit plastic bits.

I got my stomach in knots wondering whether or not it was too big to safely tow home with the Rover, turns out it towed it like a champ, the VERY stony-faced african woman I bought it off even cracked a smile when she saw it all hooked up and ready to go. She was gonna export it to Nigeria and had it sat in a haulage yard next to her shipping container full of old computers and that! She was obv a bit of a pro, when I offered £250 she turned it down with a flat 'NO' without moving a single muscle of her face. In between showing me pictures of his Philippino 'girlfriends' on his phone, her mental italian cockney right hand man agreed (against her will I suspect) to accept £275 and thats what I paid. I've got the Polish reg document so it should be no problem to UK register once its MOT'd.

Sems to be in pretty decent nick, though I just took their word for it that the engine and gearbox were alright!!! I'll find out I suppose when I sort out a battery or some jump leads.

WTF I am gonna do with it heaven knows, I've got more than enough work on with the Maser and did'nt really have £275 to just 'waste' but I just fancied it, so there.

Phwoar! Looks well enough all round, and suitably grim on the inside, just as I remember them.

Bet it fires up fine, and your £275 won't have been wasted.

Top purchase Bollox! There's no way in hell that's a waste of £275.00... Think of the burgeoning* retail market for such a HAWT motor.

Crumbs, these Caros don't even have any of the nice period bits that the earlier cars have do they? They just look like a really lazy '80s update of an already quite bad '70s design, which is exactly what they are.

Absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever (ATCNBE). Verdict: A+++ Shiteing

Truly excellent... In an utterly miserable way! :D

If I was A framing, I'd be tempted to tell people that I'm towing a spare car in case of a breakdown, then I just swop 'em over and continue driving! A sort of Autoshite self recovery!

Posted

Do they have a lovely rattly chain driven mangle of a engine,or are they pretty smooth engines ?

Posted

Something from the house of VAG under the hood?

Looks a clean example of one of the finest* cars ever made.

Posted

That's a stylish and elegant motor car, and no mistake.

I think the interior looks great, an excellent place to be while you wait for the AA with whisps of steam rolling romantically over the bonnet

Posted

Brilliant, looks awful in a good way and your reasons for purchase ('didn't really have £275 to waste but I just fancied it, so there') are spot on.

Posted

Top shiteing M. Bol. ... I think the little Rover did well towing that.

Posted

This is what I love about this place, somebody spends money on a dreadful car that most 'normals' wouldn't be seen in and gets roundly congratulated :D great save and top towage Mr B.

Posted

Fancy exhibiting it on our club stand at crich this October Bol, also your more than welcome to join the owners club :)

Gr9.6 car* and GR111111111.1111 write-up. One of the joys of buying old chod is meeting the "eccentric" sellers. Sounds like you found a right one there

Posted

Nice. 8)

Dash looks like it's made out of the sort of plastic that yoghurt pots are made from.

Posted

Excellent winter chod -with a nice 'lil profit next Spring.

Doubt it'll need much to maker it legal -but to make it enjoyable?

Excellent

There is only so much horridness I can handle. I sat in one of these at the 1987 (or 88) motor show at Earls Court and was disgusted by them. To add insult to injury its a left hooker too, although I suppose it wont matter so much as you probably wont be doing much overtaking in it.

You are a braver man than me.

However it is great for looking like Lech Wałęsa.

You, sir, are a nutter, and if I wore a hat, it would be doffed in your general direction at such a wonderful purchase!

Posted

That looks utterly miserable and in LHD is going to be even worse to drive than a right hooker. Added bonus 1980's stickers on a 1990's car. Also, sat on that side, you can pose as a Polish superstar and pick up yes nice girls as they walk down the pavement. Sign me up!

Its even got a Polish dealer sticker in the rear window, I am gonna look 100% pukka as i rock up at the employment agency for a day’s seasonal veg-picking work.

Posted

That looks super! Id imagine it must have the old pushrod lump under the bonnet with a cat and carb?

100% FSO technology.

Looks great bo11o, I'm looking forward to the road test.

That thing is depressing me just looking at pictures of it. Top shiteing, Bollz.
