Me and a mate used to by some St. Bruno and smoke it in roll-ups...

That must have been a pretty revolting experience right?

/\/\/\ Once you'd got it lit, the smoke was good, if strong. If I still smoked, I would have considered a pipe for that unusual-ness factor. However, it's 8 years tomorrow since I stopped! :)Did anyone see the non-pipe-smoking on the latest "Three Men In a Boat"?

Yes. I saw that. I could the distinct impression that relationships between the three were distinctly less jovial "off camera........"

Would blame two of them I mean being stuck in a boat with Griff Rhys-Jones has got to be awful!m0rris

The "put money on where the cow craps in the field" contest were fairly amusing.

They used to do this at the end of season at Aberystwyth Town FC, although it was more of a raffle. The pitch was divided into an imaginary grid, and you bought a "square". After the game the cow was bought on until it took a dump, the co-ordinates of said dump calculated, and the winner got a bottle of fizz or somesuch. Heady entertainment, I assure you.

I had to set up the 'display unit' for that! We got 50 copies of it through, slightly optimistic. It wont sell that many.

Do I hear the last rasping breath of the Top Gear format? (Or will we see it reconfigured as a Saturday morning kids tv programme?)

some guy called Yoric told me that the end is nigh ( or was it Yorics end ), hopefully something better will come about but with all this eco stuff going on I dont expect so.

TG is back tonight with a history of Reliant.

Expect Robins being dropped on Marinas etc.

i heard that the new reasonably priced car is a Kia Ceed and that a CX gets destroyed

A CX estate gets turned into a Motorhome - it's in this weeks Radio Times. The other two 'motorhomes' are a L-R Defender and a Lotus Excel, well it has a tent thing on the roofrack anyway  .

I saw the trailer for that stunt, It was filmed by a loony member of the public on a video phone, Expect more bitching on the interweb though.

Here it is.

Well the Reliant piece was predictable enough, but still made me LOL. Pretty much par for the course for TG then...

That poor Mazda :( looked real clean.

sorry, but i have to say im starting to go off top gear now. its just gone a bit too far now.

Posted

Yeah I was wincing expecting them to do something horrible to that Mazda. Glad they didn't.

Reliant bit was predictable.

Well, another exceptionally good episode I thought.

The Reliant, I could watch that all day.

The fact it has annoyed some of the anoraks is another mega-bonus.

Well done Top Gear, I'm very glad you're back.

Reliant thing was semi-amusing. The 'big' names added something, and the Reliant Enthusiasts were obviously in on the gag and gave a good showing. And, he did what I've always wanted to do - put stabilisers on one!

Posted

I really enjoyed it as well, The Reliant feature was very funny, Much better then the yawnfest Bentley feature at the start.

I didn't realise how unstable those Robin's are.

Well, he did play for a roll! Plus, adding the bulk of Clarkson puts the Reliant at quite a disadvantage!

 Only because Jeremy swung a hella load of steering and right foot on.

Also enjoyed tonights Top Gear, my mum looked at me when she heard "Reliant" and said .. "No you are not getting one :)"

I did enjoy the Reliant feature too. A lot of LOLs from me too.

Granddad Vin always ran Reliants so I have many memories of his various Regals, Robins and Rialtos.

As said Trig, they aren't that unstable it was just played for laughs...

Mind you I didn't enjoy Granddad Vin doing 70+ on the Lincoln bypass in a T reg Robin. That engine was just screaming for mercy......

Made me want another Robin, i had 1 when i was 18, had twin alloy wheels, cherry bomb exhaust, was two tone, burgundy over grey, and my best memory way doing 70+ on tha A631 back into Gainsborough from West Burton Power Station. Good times. :D

I did drive a 1976 Robin once, only around the block mind but it was great fun although i was scared to corner inc ase it tipped over!

Posted

Of course it was obvious what would happen - a lot - in the Reliant piece, but it was so well done it was damn funny.

I LOL'd my arse off.

+ 2! Loved it - especially as it was all filmed local to us. Wish I'd known at the time. I have to say, the thought of doing 80 + in one is terrifying!

try a ton! I got a rialto van on two wheels at about 98mph! The front lifts up, especially if there is some weight in the back.
