As for the 'Guess the Shorty' competition, we only received two entries, and there was hardly anything between them, so Dominic has judged them both as winners.

So @bunglebusand @flat4alfa will both receive some surprise diecasts when I get round to it...

@flat4alfa, your pack of requests is also ready, will pm you about that shortly.

Tesco's had some new Matchbox in.

There were a couple of classics such as a 40s Cadillac and 2 modern cars (a Mercedes of some sort and a Porsche Panamera) and one left of these:

IMG_20200523_162433.thumb.jpg.88e46e433add60b27075c1907f20dcb8.jpg

Looks pretty good I think.

Not been to a Tescos in 10 weeks....  even then it was a waste of time as not even replenishing stocks of Hot Wheels.  I thought the Matchbox supply was dead but great news to hear this!

@AndyW201 Had to get one from an importer,  Bit of chat back here

A few week's back I received these gem's courtesy of @Petrolize bedroom clearout.

Apologies on the poor phone pic's, I'd tired multiple times but these are the best of the worse!

Petrolize said these two used to pull a Majorette Caravan when he and his Sister were kids. So I thought I'd put them both to good use with towing my Siku Trailer.

This has left these oddballs surplus to requirements , any good to anyone? Would swap for 1/36 Corgis or any everyday French cars.D179FCBC-8B2B-4E4B-A1A7-0CE5DE09F301.thumb.jpeg.e33179e380777ed9ed8033a9d87dff37.jpeg

Corgi Charlie Angels van is in good condition, I just don’t like it.

The GS Camargue is Majorette and in VGC- I just don’t like concept cars.

Can you earmark Charlie's Angels van and the Majorette for me - I'll see if I can find any swapsies

That ice cream van is a copy of the Hot Wheels Good Humour Truck - I have one the same

Next up, 80's poster child the Lamborghini Countach. Matchbox, Chinese unknown (Zylmex?), Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Maisto.

This could be interesting... I've just placed an ebay order with Steve Flowers.  Let's see how long he takes to respond.  And no, it doesn't include an Ecurie Ecosse window set.

We went & did some shopping at Tesco today, after a tip-off about Matchbox cars from @Split_Pin.

There were some new cars,& they are 3 for 2 at the moment,so came away with these for a fiver ?

20200524_122649.thumb.jpg.933eacc6d4961d3b00dad167ba2e0e0f.jpg

They did have the Cadillac mentioned by Split_Pin,but it was very small compared to the others,so I left it behind.

Quite a bit of dross in this batch, and postage a bit steep, but might be enough in this batch to make it worthwhile?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORGI-JOBLOT-OF-CARS-OTHER-MAKES-40-ITEMS-PLEASE-SEE-PHOTOS/164214195279

s-l1600.jpg

Considering this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373051120920

is a total of £22.99 then I'd say it's reasonably priced.

That works out at £1 per car worth having in the listing you are watching. In my opinion only the BP promo cars (I have a thing for those at present!) the Corgi Manta, 1/36 Mini and the 2 Corgi Juniors helicopters are worth the time of day.

The pull back cars are quite interesting too, going by the few that myself and my son have.

The rest is just old boy guff which might sell cheaply on market place.

Any idea what the 'Super Racer' is?

Finally found out the models of the late-thirties 'Silver Arrows'...   As previously excited about on page 579

Knew I had something somewhere,  Found amongst a box of Matchbox Yesteryear in the loft.  Boxed too, never been out of boxes until today.  Hooray.

Finally got this painted - think this is attempt #4. This is only the second car I've painted with my airbrush, custom mixed the colour. Struggled to see where the paint was going on for some reason so I had to sand the roof back, though I might as well do it silver after that.

20200526_130204.thumb.jpg.df875c773d8a6525d22b2a4a6f758c20.jpg20200526_130251.thumb.jpg.6427c8b19f24a37cc6ce831156a1fe76.jpg20200526_130225.thumb.jpg.74977a5d6e2519c259a6c7ccb7d6b1cc.jpg20200526_130304.thumb.jpg.7bf678da00d63aaa512d5ef899d6a8f4.jpg

The wheels were off Ali Express (seen them on eBay too), they're really nice and are separate rim, centre, tyre and disc/caliper that is designed so the caliper stays still. Well impressed as you can paint the centre before assembly.

Your dictators’ limousines are our concern.

Dinky Mercedes 600 Pullman

Got three of these now due to the eBay job-lot trigger-finger.  Decided to keep the best intact and transfer missing headlight and passengers

So, the others taken apart to make the best of the spares. Thinking to paint one in Jezza Clarkson’s green?

Isn't that the Dinky version? My Corgi one doesn't have opening doors. Going to look nice in green though.

Wow! Local Morrisons are on top of their Hot Wheels game at the moment,

Check out this wacky little funster,

Nice recolour for the gasser wagon,

IMG_20200526_210406.thumb.jpg.12fbf179a5f407f594728c0358acfab0.jpg

I think this an old-as-the-hills casting, but I've not seen a Cobra in the line up for years so this is a welcome release. A nice, fairly tasteful job they've done too.

Another outing for the Datty pick up. Nice matt paint job, and still love these steelies,

IMG_20200526_210113.thumb.jpg.b6d0e612727d6fce71e61f0dbc3d7095.jpg

And a couple of modern Germans. Not everyone's cuppa but I think the new Merc A Class looks nice in red,

IMG_20200526_211233.thumb.jpg.9a9d0983b0171572911220ce7e4c2241.jpg

And this seems to be one of the sought-after ones on the HW sites,

IMG_20200526_210049.thumb.jpg.cde1fd1ef4405ab01fed528aeb2934c1.jpg

To be honest there were a few more there I would have had, but the 'nip in for bread and milk' shop was starting to get expensive...

I had some of the Super Racers as a kid, including the same Escort and BMW M3 E30. I sold the Escort on AS last year. It was suppose to be a MK4 looking at the front. An has opening doors and boot too.

They also did a crap MK1 Golf convertible that had MK2 rear lights. Which they did with the roof up or down.

They were about 1:43ish scale with a pull back motor. An I usually found them in either bargain type shops or holiday tat shops.

To clear it up, a photo shoot was shot to compare ?

In the LEFT corner:  The CORGI Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman.  Has a switchable 'roll-along' mechanism that activates the screen wipers.  Decal (looks factory yet never seen another) I managed to translate ЦДПДЕВЦЫ to 'Chairman' - but is upside-down on both sides!

In the RIGHT corner:  The DINKY Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman.  Has opening bonnet; doors front and rear; boot lid.  This example seems to have had decals from a BAC Lightning applied, I think?
