So after checking in with work, and putting things on a standby footing for whatever fresh hell Monday might bring, what better antidote to never-ending tribal tomfoolery than meandering over to the market to hoke through a big old box o' knackered diecast?

A few minutes later, as I was finalising my purchases, I was invited to peruse the new arrivals, priced at 'about a tenner each':

What a way to start the day, fondling the die-casts!

lucky I was not there or I would have been at least £30 lighter now!

Aaaahhhh... It's like Where's Wally ? If it's still there next time and you don't want it @Datsuncog then if it's not in too bad a shape may I request it please?

So then... as you've likely twigged, today was not a day for a return jaunt to the market at lunchtime, as I was back home by 10.30.

BUT that means you can at least see what was bagged from the 50p box...

First up, any interest from @bunglebus in this Adventure 2000 release of the Planet Scout? Can't remember if you bagged one elsewhere!

20200110_105438.thumb.jpg.2a0a09e710991bd688941f27bb0acb18.jpg

20200110_105456.thumb.jpg.dc1a4e44eedd47d00dd817e87542f09e.jpg

Also, a quite decent Red Rider - first dibs goes to @flat4alfa if there's still a demand for engines there. [EDIT - taken!]

20200110_105654.thumb.jpg.689805be3b7476eefeac4f13891e0fc1.jpg

20200110_105713.thumb.jpg.5bda1ce64df22781f29817a2c9212198.jpg

This 5-pack exclusive version of the Dodge Dakota pickup deffo appeared in the tat bin last autumn; however this may not be the same one.

20200110_105525.thumb.jpg.97d2165fa2fce7e69fcd5b0eb3d04971.jpg

20200110_105612.thumb.jpg.02fe3b9d47343a898c2f9c0c5e9ee79c.jpg

It's quite heavily playworn, but was also painted up to look like a bit of a shed when new - think it was part of a 'Junkyard' set?

20200110_105634.thumb.jpg.4119cdcf3b19dc5967fce4239181e910.jpg

[EDIT - bagsied for Sierraman!]

Another VW T3 Ambulance.

20200110_105746.thumb.jpg.995e6bd41af52ecd8262f7a2e971194d.jpg

20200110_105803.thumb.jpg.23cbd47ca38268f96bc2f7fcc2844732.jpg

Complete, if a tad scruffy. [EDIT - also added to the Sierraman box!]

A trio of 70s Fords, next:

20200110_105850.thumb.jpg.6f74d06a614e3eca1dbe825d718a2969.jpg

20200110_105908.thumb.jpg.8d765f8c722126f8c07cf819037e642b.jpg

Capri, Cortina and Transit aren't maybe aren't anything special, condition-wise - but perhaps some use to someone?

[EDIT - Capri going to Sierraman, Cortina snapped up by @Tenmil Socket].

More late-70s Matchbox: VW Golf and Camper:

20200110_105928.thumb.jpg.8c06c0b9946b0a7df73c62eca82bbc6f.jpg

20200110_105943.thumb.jpg.118edbc52b8f985e56817447e893f1a9.jpg

I think I owned a MB38 Camper before; this one's a bit tatty with a slightly cockamamie wheel.

20200110_110002.thumb.jpg.02d4a569ed71f63f01b14a1ee24690b3.jpg

This casting had a relatively short life in this format, listed for 1981 only, before going on to grow huge wheels and have a much longer career as the MB63 4x4 Open Back Truck.

For some reason I always thought this was meant to be a Mazda pickup, but a closer look at the grille reveals otherwise:

20200110_110021.jpg.e5dde5f5d42fb7ecaf25cbe7552bbc9c.jpg

It's a Ford; possibly an F100 apparently. [EDIT: apparently not, it's a Ford Courier, aka Mazda Proceed]

Lesney's detailing really was something else - this lettering is so tiny, but so perfect.

Two more from the 1970s - Tanzara and Dodge Challenger, in reasonable nick.

20200110_110046.thumb.jpg.526429d7b6dc13105a69c17b83cfc963.jpg

20200110_110106.thumb.jpg.2a45635f9c834cbbd345db434cbb6d7f.jpg

And moving into the 1980s:

20200110_110135.thumb.jpg.9f8768b078aaf9f31f78c131b1f87c00.jpg

(Rover 800) Sterling; Volvo 760; Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit, all of which could benefit from a little tidying.

'Sterling' was the name given to the Rover 800 by Austin-Rover in their efforts to conquer the US market - and so was all that the Matchbox model used on its baseplate.

The real car was a bit of a flop stateside, sadly, as initial strong sales tailed off after serious concerns about quality control.

Moving on to Motorsport...

20200110_110157.thumb.jpg.fd49f464c39a01b228370edec4161ba7.jpg

A somewhat fantastical pairing of a Ferrari F1 car with a Kenworth transporter [EDIT- allocated to Sierraman] - yet dwarfed by a Peugeot 205.

20200110_110224.thumb.jpg.3be901a1ca4f40032560b1f696f73bad.jpg

And moving past Matchbox into Corgi, now - a super-groovy metallic purple Land Rover recovery truck [secured by SpottedLaurel], and another Citroen Dyane.

20200110_110239.thumb.jpg.ef5db77f6c810fd1166f11aaa8257514.jpg

20200110_110255.thumb.jpg.b481a249393bf8aaa40fec61f76f150f.jpg

Massively oversize towing hook still in place, and all.

And lastly for today's tiny tat, a modern Hot Wheels Ford Mustang Mach 1 - probably some sort of James Bond tie-in?

20200110_110308.thumb.jpg.bd9951722331b1650ce0e20bb1a4c617.jpg

20200110_110321.thumb.jpg.a176e6520ed9a66c3a0f57c1046b290c.jpg

A few light marks from its time in the tat box, but no serious chips or anything [EDIT - another one for the Flat4Alfa box].

All of the above available for 50p each, if anyone's so inclined [unless shown as taken]!

Then we have these...

20200110_105204.thumb.jpg.98a279d3d326e24fa3f8acbb7178b560.jpg

Now, I know @NorfolkNWeigh was looking one of these - there's some chipping, but at £3, it's yours if you fancy it, good sir! [EDIT - sale agreed!]

20200110_105228.thumb.jpg.9a1f4a2b2d5f6c4c3f4317e6d1fe72d1.jpg

20200110_105257.thumb.jpg.f541be62a48a06d0a84912e1c24d8305.jpg

Should respond well to some cleaning.

And finally...

20200110_105322.thumb.jpg.915ff8559ea810c4b3fac4af0456aa41.jpg

20200110_105348.thumb.jpg.96c94735a9805c8dffffd9c14aa93a3f.jpg

20200110_105410.thumb.jpg.2e614d1dc18cc373224546a8082065ce.jpg

I once had one of these Capri IIs in beige, in a fairly dreadful state - so this silver version appealed quite a bit.

It might respond to a bit of light polishing later on.

If any Ford lickers fancy it for £4, I'll set it aside for you... otherwise it'll go into the cabinet for now. [EDIT: looks like this will be joining its tatty beige sibling chez NoelTidybeard]

Phew! That's it for today.

I'm off for a lie-down...

Bugger!  I forgot it was Tatday.  Been busy photographing the underside of a certain Hairy Pussy.  All is not lost, however, because he will be there tomorrow too.  We can have Taturday instead!

The Matchbox camper is a Ford Courier, which is a badge-engineered Mazda.

Ah, interesting... I suppose that would explain it then!

Matchbox Wikifandom page alleges it's a Ford F100; I couldn't quite see the similarity myself...

Another bumper report Tim, cheers!

It was a bit of a busy one at work today so I'm only just checking in now. Pity I missed the MK3 Superkings Transit, it would go well with the BMW 5 series I bought from (I think) bunglebus a few months ago.

I'll add that to the list... with any luck, it'll still be there next week. I'm pretty sure that one was knocking around the stall a few months ago too...

No the Courier wasn't badged F100.  Never seen that on publicity material either.

Ford Courier (Mazda Proceed) were built in Japan and shipped over complete, or incomplete if to be fitted with Pinto 2.3 engine option

US-market chassis plates stated MADE BY TOYO KOGYO FOR FORD MOTOR CO.

Not the cleanest casting (look at the back arch), but unusual 'Talbot Matra Murena' marketed by Mattel/Hot Wheels, presumably from an old Polistil casting.

We have had this baby before

I have Sierraman's one currently.  Have since dipped it and painted it up - it's now all red with tan interior and odd bits of detailing.  Photo to come if interested

Not Polistil - it was Mebetoys.

Mattel bought Mebetoys in late-1960s (the Mebetoys creators went off to create BBurago).

Production remained in Italy even as Mattel Mebetoys and also later rebranded again as Mattel Hot Wheels.  The 1:43 range finished during the 1980s

Yes please!  To the 240z.

I was kicking myself for being busy on the first Tat Friday of 2020 and I needn't have worried, your shite diecast memory stepped in to save the day. I also owe you for that SD1, let me know the total including p&p and I'll fire off a payment , unless you're happy to keep adding to my box of 70, s Corgis.

Actually add in the VW transporter. Could be good as a camper conversion.

Yup, will do for all of those - though BB asked me to keep an eye out for a pale green A2000 Planet Scout a few months back, so will add it in to your box if he's found one elsewhere in the meantime!

Will have a look, certainly!

If I'd had sufficient cash on me, I would have had both the R16 and the Rover P6...  but I'll make a note on my 'looking for' list, so I know to nab any future R16s that appear.

Same goes for anyone else - if there's anything in particular you've been looking for, let me know - preferences regarding desired condition and upper price also helpful!

The Corgi Renault R16, with its cheerfully floppy seats, was all-original and certainly quite presentable. Ditto the James Bond Aston next to it.

with regard to the preference condition of a Corgi Renner 16,

well one just like that the one shown would be perfect, in nice original condition like that one.

i don't mind a chip or two on the car like that, a toy which has had a life before i got its nice, certainly i think they are nicer like that as opposed to been all repainted,.

price wise, £10 upto £15, thats gotta be enough to secure a really nice one, surely?
