I've got that Transit somewhere, in played-with but far from shabby condition. 'Twas one of my favourites to cruise around the living room; it somehow seemed incredibly sporty. Love the headlights, too.

Of course it's incredibly sporty - it has 'MOTORSPORT' on the side!

As any fule kno (especially fules who hang around the Ripspeed aisle in Halfords) £10 of self-adhesive graphics beats £1,000 of engine mods, every time...

I love the headlights as well - leaving them out on the later 'smiley' version of the Transit was a big mistake. It just looks 'right'.

This arrived today. Not sure why I thought whitemetal was lightweight like resin, but it weighs a flippin' ton! Lovely detailed and accurate casting, too, but I still cant fathom somebody paying £100+ for something like this

The model shop I used to work in stocked Brooklin and Lansdown models, and I was also in disbelief of the sheer weight... there were one or two diecast plutocrats who used to come in and buy them (generally retired judges, interestingly), but the rest just sat there, year after year...

Meant to say before - that Mack is ace. Looks really fresh.

This thread's moving so fast these days, it's hard to keep up with all the good stuff going down!

I've been trying to find out about the pullback Corgi Juniors Transit which I got last week. All I can find are pictures of these two versions of the Transit, the Mercedes 190E,& the Porsche 935 which Datsuncog said he had seen.Anyone seen any others, maybe they only did those ones?

Screenshot_20191201-211953_Chrome.thumb.jpg.be01ee08431ae3cafd749401e27aa6e1.jpg   Screenshot_20191201-211624_Gallery.thumb.jpg.82752d7626ce6ce1aefbef52a8fbd0ce.jpg

Dunno if you're interested, but I picked up that Porsche 935 today from the tat bin, just to get a closer look at it:

20191206_141017.thumb.jpg.e13241369a6b998e522aa97cb2e34cc8.jpg

Still seems to work, albeit not quite at neck-snapping g-force speeds.

More like a Fiesta 1.0 with a slipping clutch trying to get up a gradient.

I kinda like these strange little dead-end ranges that just never really took off; makes a collection more interesting.

Oh, and you'll have noticed a Corgi Juniors GP Beach Buggy there too - bought just because I find it hard to understand why Corgi put out both a large and small version of the same vehicle, with only a negligible difference in overall dimensions.

20191206_141031.thumb.jpg.638f5db0fb52cdc6bbe18ed44749e18e.jpg

20191206_141040.thumb.jpg.074307b33eec424ccdcda4d4cb00b3b9.jpg

It also made me realise that I had a 'full size' Corgi Firebug beach buggy in with all my small cars, and I didn't realise until today that it was meant to be 1/43 scale.

Looking back at the Corgi and Matchbox catalogues so lovingly scanned and posted recently, it's interesting to note that while both manufacturers produced some models in both their 1/68-ish and 1/35-ish scales, Corgi seemed to do it more often than Matchbox.

I almost feel a Little & Large challenge coming on...

Truck thing is stamped 'Ideal Toy Corporation 1982 - Made in Macau', if that means anything to anyone? That might be some sort of launcher thing at the back, perhaps.

Ideal 'Slam Shifters' range.  Some came bundled with the 'Turbo Launcher'

Model is Avenger

I only posted this because 1) it might make the OCD kick in, 2) Tat Fri is upon us, 3) You started all this!

Three castings...?

Happy enough with the pair of them?

There were actually a few different Corgi GP Beach Buggies in the box, though this was the only one with a hood.

Cool, cheers. Fire engine Hot Rod was a good price too, got one but not as nice. It's the green one I really need.

Sort of tempted by the Fire Bug if it appears again another week.

Wonder where matey gets them, house clearances? Jumble sales? Charity shops?

Think it's mostly from house clearances and the like - certainly a lot of the stuff looks like it's just been pulled out of a garage. Oil cans, tins of ancient polish, Haynes manuals for Mk1 Cavaliers...

I think there's a weird ecosystem going on whereby someone must do the actual clearance, and different traders at the market then buy various things from them.. there are stalls that mostly sell second-hand china, cookware and ornaments; others that do second-hand books, others still jewellery. My matey does mostly toys, CDs, random superseded household stuff (like mangles and washboards) and postcards.

Also, quite often when I'm browsing the stall someone shows up with a box of Days Gone or similar that belonged to some deceased family member, looking to sell them. They're usually politely told that they just don't sell... and these often then turn up at auction instead.

It's a funny one.

Bit modern for me, but my uncle bought me this Norev over from France. 35 years ago he bought me a radio controlled Fiat Ritmo. Plus ca change.

I had a Somerville Rover P5 about 20 years ago. I recall these sorts being advertised in Popular Classics in the very early 1990s, when the only affordable British model cars were from a (then) small range from Corgi.

So if you wanted a mint condition 50s or 60s BL, Rover or Rootes Group model those were often your only option over an expensive Dinky. Thankfully my mum taught me how to restore model cars so cheap careworn Dinky and Corgi were a viable option to me.

Vanguards must have blown them out the water.

I found my Rover strangely soulless and as you alluded to, they were a bit giffer.

I'd definitely love to own a Rootes model like the one above or a Maxi though. They are pretty interesting.

More Trademe trawling for interesting things netted this:

49102195506_71ea0cb1c5_b.jpg

A 1/43 plastic Norev Simca Chambord - I think that's a fancy name for a Vedette. It's a little bit mucky in places and also lightly warped but it has retained its double aerials above the fins and its tow bar too - I'm not sure if these were sold separately but I have seen images of interesting Norev trailers and caravans but I think the likelihood of finding one in NZ would be very slim indeed. This now brings up my total of plastic Norevs to 3 (the others being a violet coloured Panhard and a light green Renault 30) and I bagged this one for less than £10 delivered, which I think is a fair price for something so old and fragile.

49101684068_0d11ed5c77_b.jpg

Have a bonus whimsical, colour coded shot after rooting through a 1980's advertising industry magazine - the irony is not lost on me that this is something this Norev won't be suffering from!

Sometimes that 'ground in' dirt on Norevs can be improved by autosol metal polish believe it or not. Nice car.

@Jon more pics for you.

Two problems here; I'm pretty useless with kits and 2; but not as useless as TTE were when it came to racing Carina Es in 1994.

That’s only one problem then ?

Heh, that's not a million miles from my childhood Vitesse 2CV, with that humpy boot bustle... the Vitesse came with a rolled-back roof and snazzy tartan seats, iirc.

Hurray for uncles who 'get' shiters...

He lives in France, and happy to do Norev hunting for me - but it's kind of difficult to give exact parameters of what is worth getting or not...I think he paid €12 for this - which seems about right.

The box came with it- and it is part of a Hachette 'collection 2cv' series from 1994 I believe.

An ebay seller here is selling a load of the associated magazines:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/norev-hachette-specification-collection-Citroen-2CV-comes-without-miniature-/153344144071?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10&var=453246946303

Norev did so many 2cv variations though, I get a bit confused.

Anything suitable in the spares boxes, he wondered?

Gerald, duty manager at the airport has let the search light get pinched off the roof of the HCB Angus.

It was plastic and silvered. Fitted to the forward part of the black roof section. It could be rotated too
