Well, it is indeed Friday, and we all know what that means...

"TINY TAT!"

That's right.

 

Somewhat outrageously, I've been asked to do a hand's turn this morning, so the tat count is somewhat later than normal. I know! Unbelievable.

(This is the problem with getting a new manager: I've now taken him aside and pointed out that I might be seen at my desk on a Friday, but I have rather more pressing matters to attend to than his finance reports. But because I'm a generous soul, I'm willing to overlook his transgression - just this once.)

So, a murky old November morning of mist and mizzle... but we do have some positive developments.

The stall was there!

And the 50p Tat Box has made its long-overdue return!

It's more in focus in real life, I promise you.

So, bearing in mind that this is an ever-moveable feast, what was there today?

Well, there was a fairly minty-looking Corgi Mercedes Coupe, and slightly more playworn Dinky Ford Capri 109E.

Also a Dinky Beetle and a Corgi DAF/OSI City Car behind, both in decent nick, and a Corgi 'Penguinmobile' (wearing the same wheels as the Adams Drag-Star from last week, I noted)

£10 each asked for these. Gulp. We're into the big money league this week, kids.

£10 also asked for the Land Rover and trailer; while £5 sat on the Corgi Whizzwheels Porsche Carrera 6 and the assorted Dinky behind.

Sad news for @sheffcortinacentre - the green Ford GT70 appears to have sold since last week. Daaah.

Moving across...

...some of these are familiar - the manky Corgi F1 cars, the busted Tatmobile, and both sets of EFE trackside cars. £3-5 seems to be the thrust of what's here.

I forgot to ask about the still-sealed Matchbox Super GT triple pack.

Motorcycles, buses and fire appliances... £5 a throw.

 

Also, more buses...

 

But what of the tat box?

Well, here we are:

A cornucopia of Lesneys, Corgi Juniors and the odd Majorette or two.

Let's dive in!

BMC 1800 Pinin is fooked, sadly. Other 70s Superfast also looking a bit sorry for themselves.

 

@bunglebus - have your recent arrivals sated the need for a Matchbox Beach Buggy/Baja Buggy/Beach Hopper, or is this wonky beast any use to you?

'57 Chevys with their bonnets still intact are a minor rarity.

 

Plenty o' Piston Poppers in varying states of disrepair, should anyone feel the urge.

 

Also, if anyone finds themselves in need of smol engines for custom projects, this busted Tanzara, two ok-ish Soopa Coopas and a complete Woosh 'n' Push may provide some fodder... other engineless examples were also in the tray of delights.

No Tyre Fryers, Pi-eyed Pipers or Red Riders in the box today, sadly.

 

The 'budget end collectibles' were still out in force...

Thought not.

 

Other motoring ephemera on the stall gave me pause to consider - who knows where these unused stickers came from.

So while there wasn't maybe a huge amount to thrill and delight, there's some nice stuff - just not that cheap.

 

A quick turn round the other stalls revealed nothing of note at Alan's Emporium, nor anything at the Charity Stall... I seem to have become invisible there since my Deluxe Tat Box adventure a few weeks back, with no further invitations to the VIP area forthcoming - dunno if he just has nothing of note with wheels right now, or if he's twigged he sold me those 1960s Lesneys waaay too cheap...

 

Giffer Alley revealed some new diecast, though...

Oh great, Days Gone.

Although...

Nah. The Siku fire engine was priced at £12. So was the Corgi one.

And the Days Gone sets were also priced at £12.

Everything's £12.

So there we have it... and yes I did nab a few things, and I'll pop them up here shortly - but give me a yell if there's anything you see that you can't live without!

If he’d do a deal at £15.00 for the pair , I’d share a multi buy with @Amishtat on the Corgi SL. £10 is a bit too salty though.£7.50 I could live with.

Sure thing - after careful study, I nabbed the Piston Popper with the least cracked glass and least damaged engine block. Tanzara also snaffled. I look forward to seeing the unholy spawn of this particular marriage...

It is there - and now secured for you.

Seems in reasonable overall nick, with uncracked glazing that should respond to a bit of polishing - tenner looks to be about the going rate for similar condition examples online, so not the mother of all bargains, but hopefully a decent addition to the collection nonetheless.

Will add it in with your others!

Well, I asked.

He refused to budge. A firm £10 each on them. ?

Since he also has a stall at Nutts Corner market on a Sunday, I can kinda understand that he might not want to drop his prices on Friday if he knows there's regulars up in the Antrim Badlands who'd likely stump up full whack.

I agree that £10 is maybe a touch salty for a 350SL - there's one ending on eBay this afternoon at nearly half that, including postage.

Both the Beetle and the Fordson had already departed by the time I arrived, unfortunately - and this was all that remained on the stall by 2pm...

He'd had a busy morning, plainly.

Well then... the lure of the tat box was strong.

Musta been the deprivation from previous weeks.

Boxy Volvo goodness - two Corgi versions (green and silver) and a Majorette example in the middle, although annoyingly with a stabbed windscreen. Kids, eh?

 

Was someone here looking some T3s for a custom project? Or was that long, long ago now?

 

Lesney-era fun ahoy. Yet another Lotus Super Seven (but with windshield); a relatively unblinged Chevrolet Corvette; and Matchbox's peculiar take on the Rover SD1 police car, with plastic base.

I still think Corgi made a better fist of this one.

 

Later Matchbox now - is it wrong that I bought the cherry picker mainly because I found the bucket attachment for one of these in my toybox the other night, and wished to reunite it?

Rolls Royce in beige. 'Nuff said.

 

And then some Corgi, to finish on... 007 underwater Esprit, and two-tone TR7.

All of the above are up for grabs at 50p each!

Having missed out on the £5 Golden Jacks Camaro last week, I was interested in finally playing about with one of these... so I went for it. The London-Sydney Rally Hillman Hunter Arrow.

Jacks still work, anyway.

Like the Consul Capri and Merc 350Sl, this one was also priced at £10 - though as a bit of online searching revealed last week, cheap examples of these don't really exist.

Paint and glazing are still reasonable, though the stickers have been lost to time.

I'll probably have had my fill of this in a week or two, so if anyone wishes to reserve it for a tenner... do hit me up.

 

And then there was also this...

Oof. One of the loveliest cars ever designed, IMHO - the Iso Grifo. Italian grace with Yank grunt. Let's not talk about the build quality, yeah?

And despite the inevitable Whizzwheels, Corgi didn't do a bad job of modelling this one.

 

A nose I used to doodle on my schoolbooks. I wonder whether my predilection for the HC Viva GLS stemmed from this car? The split grille and quad lights have a passing similarity.

Yup, I really like this one, even though it was a tenner too. Might be a keeper.

Even though he wouldn't budge on the price, I really like this one and didn't want to leave it behind.

So, after much dithering, and going away, and coming back, I forked out another tenner on it.

Apologies to NorfolkNWeigh, though I daresay you should be able to secure another one for a bit less! Yep, I paid over the odds here - must have just had a moment of madness.

 

So, a busy old day down the tat mines... and I think I've managed to spunk the thick end of £60.

 

Maybe it's as well I'll be supervising bargeboard replacement next Friday, to save me from myself...

Yeah, there were at least two big boxes of buses there this morning - sad to say, but most likely a deceased estate.

I guess if Market Blokey's bought them cheap as a job lot, he'll happily punt them out at £5 each if he's making a quid or two on each one.

By his own admission, he knows nothing about them!

If you're interested in diecast buses, I'll take better pics next time there are some in - generally I haven't bothered, as I didn't think there was so much interest here. Not a bother!

Nice haul, cheers for the '57s. I polished up the plastic piston cover bit on my piston popper with a bit of fine wet and dry then the wooden floor polish trick that all the Youtube guys suggest.
