bunglebus
Talking of Matchbox copies, I found another rip-off of the Boss Mustang, this time a Zylmex 20191117_135318 by RS, on Flickr But it's not the same as the Yatming, despite also having the same problem of the front rivet not holding the base on well 20191117_140817 by RS, on Flickr 20191117_140832 by RS, on Flickr 20191117_140856 by RS, on Flickr So what's the crack here? One manufacturer rips off Matchbox, then another manufacturer copies them, each time getting further away from the nice crisp original? Anyway some others have joined the collection this weekend. Seems like most of the die cast companies had a take of this, from Mattel's "Evil Weevil" in the early 70's, Johnny Lightening's "Bug Bomb" a bit later and here Corgi's effort, Hot Rod V.W. in an unusual orange colour 20191117_134833 by RS, on Flickr Corgi Mini Cooper S 20191117_134916 by RS, on Flickr Metro - anyone fancy this one? 20191117_135017 by RS, on Flickr Beautiful little Husky Jeep 20191117_135057 by RS, on Flickr 20191117_135102 by RS, on Flickr Another Alfa Carabo, this time in Corgi Rockets flavour 20191117_135152 by RS, on Flickr Another Rocket, no idea about this but it'll make a nice hot rod 20191117_135211 by RS, on Flickr A couple of really badly proportioned Zylmex, BMW and Porsche 20191117_135405 by RS, on Flickr 20191117_135455 by RS, on Flickr Finally some really small scale (HO?) cars, the van is up for grabs 20191117_135607 by RS, on Flickr 20191117_135633 by RS, on Flickr 20191117_135649 by RS, on Flickr 20191117_135721 by RS, on Flickr 20191117_135725 by RS, on Flickr FakeConcern

Think you're right - mine was definitely a roller, and had the spring in that hole where the key went in. I even remember it had slight rust on it. Great find though, find this stuff fascinating. Yours seems to have the engine cast with the body, mine was essentially the same as the Matchbox but all in plastic with that black glazing fitted, the original is open so you can see the interior. Just wanted to tease you lot. Indulge me? I wanted to take measurements as have been pondering doing a run of resin copies, but was originally on the look-out for rougher 'built' ones for pocket money. All other sources of resin copies are out of stock, perhaps forever. I have Maxi already, a built and stripped glue-bomb with some parts missing that would need to be fabricated; hence the measurements. Amishtat
Probably mentioned it before but I saw an Airfix Rapier built as a slot car but unpainted in about 2001. AndyW201
Oh Wow! Those kits... I remember my brother getting an Airfix kit back in the early '80s, but it was the hot rod version of the MK1 Capri. Ended up a nice metallic blue with a reasonable rendition of yellow flames painted on the front. I too have one of those Zylmex BMW 2002s, I remember getting one of those toy parking garages as a kid, the plastic type with a little lift that cranked up the centre and parking spaces either side. This came with a few small cars included, one being the lime green Zylmex MK1 Capri, which I loved, the white 2002 and another was a light blue saloon, I'm certain it was the Zylmex Rolls Royce. I didn't have a clue who the maker was at the time, all I knew is they were certainly different from the Corgi Juniors and MB superfasts I had. AndyW201
So, went back over to B&M today. Sure enough, the Hot Wheels 2020 display that was full-to-bursting last week was not-so this week! So goodbye to the Jag XF SV and Porsche 911 GT3 in purple that I had in my sweaty palms last week before, like a dickhead, putting them back. However, in the style of our very own datsuncog, I had disappointz, but did not go away empty-handed... This is one that has until now eluded me. Nicely detailed, the tampo printing being really good, right down to the tiny RS5 badges, and quad exhausts at the rear. And completing the Audi one-two, the latest colouring of the RS6 Avant. Again, nicely done. Gorgeous colour and great tampo printing, especially the quattro logo in the front air intake. I was confused for a moment, as I thought I already had this, then realised that I had got the earlier generation RS6 by Matchbox a few weeks ago, which makes a nice contrast. A bit of digging in B&M also brought, Already seen on here but I like it. I'm a big fan of the 'Ken and Mary' Skyline. Not as much of a fan of the fake police livery. Might be a candidate for opening and repainting. Also got a couple of sporty Beetles (lolz!), A couple of hot Honda's. Nice to see this Type R is a new casting of the batshit crazy 2018 model, rather than yet another recolour of the previous one. I know deliberate ratlook goes down on here like a plate of sick, but I don't think they've done a bad job on the Nomad, I have to admit to only wanting this M2 for the colour scheme, I'm a sucker for a retro style M graphic job. Otherwise it's a bit of a disappointment with no tampo printing at all for the lights, grilles or badging, Already having the previous shape Mercedes A class by Majorette, I've been wanting the new shape by Hot Wheels for a while now. At last I've managed to grab one, And the Landy S3 has already been given another recolour. Unfortunately it seem to have gone a bit OLLI. Even looks like a representation of black checker plate on the front wings... So, a bit of a haul from B&M. However no Impreza or 944. I'd heard good things about stocks at The Entertainer, so nipped into town. They were certainly stocked, two racks and three rummage bins but still no dice! Having gone into town, and paid for parking, I thought I might as well take advantage of the 3 for 2 offer and selected a couple of lairily coloured Mazdas, And I struggled to find a third. This, for some reason, appealed to me... Not a bad haul, and some of my new-case wants ticked off the list. eddyramrod
Those kits! OMG that's my childhood, right there. I built several examples of most of those shown and now Mr F4A has the survivors, and the remains of many that didn't quite survive, and several not shown. I only ever had one FD Victor though, it didn't seem to be on the market very long. I remember it had a well-detailed (by Airfix standards) slant-4 engine, and not only the bonnet but also the tailgate could be posed open - like the Maxi IIRC. The mk3 Zodiac, being an older casting, had nothing that opened, but OTOH could also be found as the MRRC slot-car version, like the Cortina and I believe, Mini and Rapier. There may have been others but I don't remember them. Whatever the circumstance, those kits are a splendid find. Assuming I ever get the finger out to do the repaint, of course... ? I had look. I was confused. I was remembering my original childhood example I trashed. I bought this replacement a few months back, as you do It has the stickers already! Why they put a Napoleonic Duck on Dyane, I don't know. 2CV was nicknamed Duck in some countries, but not Dyane AFAIK So keep the stickers on it ?, or if you must, transfer them to a yellow Corgi 2CV instead ? Seen good results on YouTube doing this though. I don't really post my Hot Wheels on here as I didn't think they'd be appreciated, glad I'm not the only one who collects them!
