This lot arrived today

20191128_175049.thumb.jpg.eb2178d9abb2d47dea0ffe29270adbb0.jpg

Bought mainly for the Volvo,as it's a colour I didn't have, but the Police Transit is interesting too

20191128_135435.thumb.jpg.bdfcd891e9e37cc0977728cf8ecf7e68.jpg

It's got opaque windows,& a pull-back motor with rubber tyres on the back, though I think they might be the wrong ones ?.

I think I've got a similar Mercedes 190 somewhere,didn't someone else(Datsuncog?) have something too?

The Nova has been another willing victim of Andy's drop shop, now slammed by a full 1 mm!

The Entertainer are doing 3 for 2 on Hot Wheels

It would be rude not to...

That Skyline's one of my favourites, a lot of Hot Wheels stuff is too outlandish for my taste, but they can do bloody good OEM Japanese and European stuff when they want to!

How bizarre. It looks a whole lot more like a Volvo 142, apart from the grille.  What a truly crap rendering of an E30.

Well bought, obvs.

That's right, there was a plain red Porsche 935 in the market tat box the other week, with the same motorized rubber rear wheels and opaque glazing... I didn't buy it, but if anyone fancies cornering the market in Corgi weirdness, I'll gladly intercede on your behalf...

Further archiving, again procured from my favourite shop in Auckland.

I'm feeling that once again, I've gone too murky on the night shoot here, so apologies if it's not too clear but just to the left is a Siku G-Wagen in quite presentable condition. Funny thing is, I have one of these already in my childhood stash and I also have an ADAC version and possibly a Polizei version, too! And I'll also admit that this isn't actually a casting l care too much for, either....

That said, it has the loudhailer and lights intact on its hood (not sure how they'd mount to canvas, mind), so are likely to be of help at some point for the sake of completion, as I remember often taking the loudhailer off my other one when playing with it back in the day.

Picked up this Transit as my older brother had one and I always coveted it. The permanently lowered body side was always a bugbear but that's because the plastic crate to load on it was long gone by the time I was playing with my brother's version. I loved the orange, too but what a shame that Matchbox didn't knock out a few more colours or better still, make a panel van.

48685223818_da04673d76_b.jpg

The interior of this one is 'Grotbags' Skin' green and as such, so is the tow bar. I'd not seen one with this colour interior before - I'm sure the one I played with back in the day had a yellow interior/tow bar. I did actually have a mint/boxed one of these replete with plastic crate and black metal base/grille, bought in the nineties during my teenage 'all things Transit' collecting stage but alas, it was sold in 2010 along with pretty much all the stuff I collected. And now look at me!

What I liked most about these Corgi Juniors X1/9s is that they often came in jazzy colours but I never had one quite so jazzy back in the day. At circa 50p, I wasn't going to let this one remain in the plastic tub I found it in, even if I wish that Corgi had downscaled the casting a smidge so they could put the small wheels on instead. Same goes for the Juniors TR7, yet the Juniors Range Rovers came on small wheels. Respect true scale, Corgi! Like Skizzer, I think I too was a slightly boring and annoying child to be around.....

Anyway, the above were incidentals, as the reason for visiting was to pick up a model I'd won from the shop's Tradme page:

49102391952_dedee0ec5b_b.jpg

Now, I'll freely admit that my collection assemblage of tut focuses mostly on period castings but some of these Corgi Vanguards castings of a few years back were really nicely done and I managed to pick this one up for the start price of £4.50ish, which also helps!

49101684213_00cbebe8f7_b.jpg

I'm not sure if the raised rear is correct or not but it's safe to say that most weren't like that by the end of their lives. I like attention to detail - the bumpers look excellent, for instance. Some decals may be a little too large and the number plate font is an honest attempt but slightly off, though that really is nitpicking. The guy at the shop was using low online start prices to try and shift some stock, which backfired in this instance, so he's knocked that game on the head. I'll admit that I have since bought another Corgi Vanguard from him (at more realistic prices but still favourable compared to Ebay), so watch out for that exciting installment at some point!

Great to have you back and firing on all cylinders, Jon!

Some fantastic models in this latest batch (not that the last lot were too shabby or anything) - the Mk2 Astra was quite a score at that money, even if it's unlikely to happen again.

Agree with you on the Matchbox Transit - raising the dropsides would have made for a much more pleasing model, while a panel version would have been blimmin' amazing.

That's a steal! Love the Majorette 5, what's the red large scale one?

Friday it is... but a different kind of Black Friday, I'm afraid.

For there may well be tiny tat at the market, but lamentably I am not anywhere near the market.

Instead, I have fun with wallpaper, radiators and laminate flooring to be getting on with...

That's a Joustra. They did really charming tinplate toys in the 1950s and moved to plastic in the mid '60s. Lots of large scale French tat. I think there was a merger/connection with Mont Blanc, which also made large scale plastic cars. Probably worth £35 even looking a bit rough, as they're very rarely seen in the UK

Just won on ebay a Lansdowne Mk2 Humber Sceptre model. This is the only model available of this car and is usually about £120 in as-new condition. This one was in a lot with a Bristol 401 and cost £60 all-in. Hopefully I can sell the Bristol for most of that again as, frankly, that's a ridiculous sum to pay for a toy car.

The Humber has had a bit of damage - the rear bumper has snapped and the tail lamp is missing. These things unscrew so if a replacement bumper could be sourced I'd be able to replace it. Can anyone think of a suitable donor car? Is there something from the Vanguards range that might donate a bumper?

Anyone got a bootlid for a matchbox 31 Lincoln continental?

This one snapped during the caustic soda process, had to double dip because two layers of paint, and obviously that's too much...

That is a lovely model. Vanguards do a Series 111 Minx that might be a suitable bumper donor?

Couldn’t you use some JB weld or Araldite to hold it?

Possibly. I might just glue the whole boot shut, I think we can live without the extra play value!
