I have a Dinky TR7 in red, a bit chipped but not bad for probably 40 years old. Base screws in so you could easily restore it. £1 plus postage if anyone wants it?

The green Grand Prix car looks a bit like a Tri-ang item, in terms of scale and probable plastic construction... it also looks to have emerged from the Tri-ang garage behind? Maybe a Cooper or Brabham, going by the shape and colour. I can't find much by way of an internet search though, sorry!

Smol cars look like a Morestone Wolseley Six-Eighty police car (black one, to the left) missing its loudhailers…

 … while the small blue model looks possibly to be a model of a Ghia L6.4 - but it's too small for the standard Corgi range, and seems to have pale wheels.

Did a smaller version appear in the Husky range?

Still, nice toys! I'd be grinning with that Corgi Karmann Ghia Razoredge, too

 Nice Range Rover DC! I had a yellow AA one as part of a set, there was a Mk.2 Transit recovery with a crane but I can't remember the third thing. Escort van maybe? It seems strange I didn't even know there was a Superkings version but then I never liked Range Rovers very much until I drove one aged about 22 so perhaps that might be an explanation of sorts. 

Thanks again to Jon for the link to that lovely Dinky Victor estate from a page or two ago, it wasn't especially something I was looking for and normally I don't go for boxed stuff as it seems hard to justify the extra £. However I came across this yesterday and therefore present to you all my appalling lack of willpower.  What a cracking casting though, really captures the shape and character so nicely apart from the narrow track.

Some of you may remember that Mr. Cog placed a request in this thread to see if anybody would be able to take on a rather sorry and very large 1/12 Tamiya Porsche 935 plastic model kit from the 1980s.

I presented my case that I had rebuilt (and I really mean rebuilt - they were wrecked) about 7 of my 1/24 scale model trucks from the early 1990s which had become damaged in storage (99% by me, clumsy sod) and that I was capable of taking on this fine specimen.

It's an incredible model with fully working metal coilovers suspension, engine wiring and soft rubber tyres. Quite a few parts are screwed on too. Everything opens too. In the late 1980s this is something that I could only dream of.

It arrived from NI yesterday and I wasted no time in sorting it out. My plan was to simply fix the broken parts and retain it's patina, in keeping with the majority of my collection. Furthermore this was built by Mr.Cog's late Uncle and it was the sole survivour of a once larger collection. As such I also wanted to be sympathetic to his fine work on this. I hope he would have approved.

So. As arrived, all of the important pieces were present.

The main damage was that the rear trailing arm had snapped and the whole assembly had become detached. 

The first part to fix was that the top mounting of the coilover. It had snapped but was still attached under the screw holding it onto the suspension. Out came my trusty tiny screwdriver that my Dad filed down for me for this purpose many decades ago.

Once that was fixed I moved onto reattaching the suspension. The trailing arm had snapped in half so this required careful positioning and balancing in order that it set straight. Most of the sway bar is missing but for a static model it doesn't do much. I also refitted the complete one on the opposite side.

Next I reattached the droplinks to the anti-roll bar.

I then moved onto the front suspension which only needed the steering arm and both ARB drop links refitting, together with one wheel.

Lastly I repaired the rear spoiler, doorframes and gave it a clean.

Pictured with a £1 coin to demonstrate the large 1/12 scale.

I'm absolutely delighted to have this in my collection. I have a fair few contemporary 911 based cars from the same era made by Bburago, Polistil and Matchbox so this crowns that collection perfectly.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out and am sincerely grateful to Mr.Cog for gifting it to me. You're a gent!

Aw man - thank you so much, both for taking this on and for doing such a fine job of it in such a short space of time!

Loving those detailed pics of your restoration - and great to see it finally receiving some tlc, having spent ten years on a shelf in my bedroom, gathering much dust (hence the patina), and then a further twenty years in a box, going from attic to attic. I feel a surprising amount of relief that it's finally found a home, with plenty of company...

I'm sure Uncle Brian would be very pleased to know that it's still around, and now back in one piece again. I always had this awful guilt at not having looked after all the models he gave me - even though his interest was purely in building them, not in displaying them.

I've a feeling that the missing wing mirror, and possibly the missing half of one of the trailing arms, are still kicking around somewhere - probably in some box in a drawer somewhere - so when I finally find them, I'll punt them on to you.

Ha no worries on the bits, I'm really grateful to have it as is. It is a fantastic piece amd it fits perfectly within my collection.

You can get a Bburago 1/24 equivalent which I might try and seek out. I had the red Momo liveried issue as a kid.

Can anyone identify this Bedford cab? I don't think it's s Dinky or Corgi as the casting is slightly different from others I've seen. The wheels and tyres are moulded one piece grey plastic.

Looks to me like the Bedford S-type cab from the first Lesney Matchbox car transporter, the A-2 set:

One popped up on the Market Tat Stall last week, and I'm hoping to snaffle it for a fellow-shiter tomorrow if it's still there...

That's a fair point - without knowing the exact measurements, it could well be the slightly bigger tractor unit from the Walls refrigerated truck set...

That Matchbox cab is actually a pretty good representation of a Big Bedford S-type. The less said about the chassis the better though. Here's a resin copy I glazed, fitted an interior to and mounted on an EFE chassis and I think it looks the part alongside modern stuff.

Last weekend, @Slowsilverforcibly made me accept £10 for fixing his MIL's hoover. I'd not spent it yet when I saw a Facebook ad for some toy cars, make an offer. I offered a tenner, and picked them up on the way home

And the 2 stand outs for me! 

As usual with these things I know nothing really about them other than there's some proper old and cool ones, if anyone spots something and instantly would like it do holler tonight, I won't see him until tomorrow so some can go if needed to fill a set/hole! 

Otherwise I'll have one happy little boy! Seems apt to buy a shit load of assorted toy car rammel using silver money knowing @quicksilver s die cast hobby!

Mine measures 3.2cm high, 4.5cm long, 3.2cm wide.

Well, tat-fans - another Friday, another peep into the glamorous world of high-class antiques and collectables...

Rum one this week - on arrival at the customary stall of wonders, NOT A SINGLE MODEL was left over from last week. Sorry about that, folks.

So he either had a fantastic run last week and sold everything, or else he left that box behind.

But no 50p tat box, nothing.

But there were diecast, oh yes. Just different ones.

Mostly modernish unboxed Corgi Classics here...

The Cortina Mk3 is from that peculiar Corgi 'Motoring Memories' range c.1997, and is a reworking of the 1970 Whizzwheels casting (y'know, the one with Graham Hill).

Citroen Light 15 is a Solido example, with opening bonnet but broken back bumper. Minor Trav is a Days Gone Vanguards, c.1995.

The Code 3 'Eason & Son' Morris LD150, with the Morris J and the VW Type 2 both marked 'East Antrim Diecast and Collectors Club' suggests the remains of an ex-collector's collection.

Suzuki model kit is Italian (CCCI or something) and unbuilt.

Unboxed buses, and various Corgi and Oxford Mini variants. The Austin FX4 is by Welly.

Big 1/18 Minichamps Capri was priced at £40. Gulp.

 

I enquired about this Dinky AEC Merryweather Fire Tender, which looked complete and in very decent nick:

£15 takes this one. Seems reasonable value, in fairness.

I'm not so into fire appliances, but this is a huge and very solid model and I was sore tempted... as the late Junkman of this parish might have commented: with that much metal in it, no wonder Dinky went bust.

Also, since I'm still surfing my 1980s Corgi wave, I made enquiry about these pair...

£10 each, he's looking.

Okay then. He may keep looking.

But, as ever, if there's anything on the stall that makes your heart sing, I'll do my level best!

That  Dinky Merryweather fire engine is cool. Is that the model that pumps water?

I think it is - one of the earlier versions in the deep metallic red (later 1970s versions were a flat, bright red)

Had a quick look to see where the hose might attach, but couldn't spot it.

The hose pops on the back IIRC and the squirty red push button is on the top.  The hose usually is missing from the side compartment, but easily replaced with something else that will do

Ah, the side compartment was indeed empty... still, I'd imagine Steve Flowers or someone does a brisk trade in replacements!
