In the meantime, some boxes of cars turned up. 1st contained some larger scale stuff, my main targets being these Zylmex Grippers

Gorgeous casting, so much detail for a tiny car. Yes it rolls 😁

Looks good, looking forward to seeing it finished. I think the wheels suit it and don't look too small - its a real nightmare trying to find decent custom wheels at this scale / size.

Project 900 is complete.

The plan was to vaguely recreate my late father's favourite of the 6 he owned between 1977 and 2007 when he changed this particular car for a new 93 after buying it just before he retired. Him and my mother must have really loved this car as they kept it for 16 years, despite all of the previous models being changed every 2-3 years. Due to the number plate it was affectionately known as Nellie.

This is the only photo I have of the car:

Nellie.jpg.7194b091bb853f5b8e2432606a93be91.jpg

There are very few 5-door 900 classic models available in any scale. After a lot of searching I found Majorette made them in 1:64. Not the easiest scale to work with when you have ageing eyes and less steady hands!

I've taken my time with this and done the best I can. It's far from perfect, but I'm happy with the results:

mod9.jpg.66530db2973bcb99bfd188c15be20b9c.jpg

A little nerve-wracking revealing the finished model to an audience that produce so many incredible models, but the last time I painted a model car was probably over 50 years ago with my mother's nail varnish!

Thanks for sharing this, it's great!

That detailing is amazing, I don't even bother trying window surrounds etc any more even at 1/43!

Went to Ford market this morning as daughter No1 wanted to look for something to use as a planter, so while we were there I had a look for miniature tat.

So now for £1 Eddy can work on finishing his Corgi Chrysler!

Also got these for £1 each

They would be in great condition if they hadn't been submerged in sme gloop that's dried out for the last 50 years

Welly Lupo @bunglebus? £1.

Also these for £2 each, need a bit of work, but still

I’ll echo what the others have said - absolutely brilliant! Well done on the detail painting too, it’s a pig in 1:43 let alone the smaller scales and you’ve done a really nice job of it.

Not crazy about the graphics on the Chaser but hopefully there'll be more versions to come. Primera is great.

Good to see a Majorette with wheels that look correct. The casting has that 'slightly too small' look of a more accurate 1/64, will be interesting to compare it to those I picked up at Jadlam last weekend.

Back home after a few days away with the family - joys of half term - and have had time to fettle with some diecasts......

Firstly, I have (mostly) finished the Matchbox Ford A van rat rod, however I'm undecided on whether my choice of front wheels suits the model or not (currently using Ali Express sourced fake Hotwheels wheels)? 🤔

Also continued with my next project, the Lledo / Days Gone based custom wrecker truck project - still plenty to do with this one, but I'm happy with the way it's coming together (currently held together with some white tack, it's not chewing gum)....

Anyway, the Zephyr is safely with me now, I have an idea for it which hasn't changed, however whilst sorting out some recent diecast purchases, I had an interesting thought.....

I paired it with this COE slide back transporter, which was in a job lot purchase from Vinted and which I was going to to strip for the wheels) but I think it will be perfect to go with the finished Zephyr......

The engine is from a hotwheels 32 ford coupe -

In fact the whole engine & interior tub from the HW fitted the MB van with some minor mods & trimming so I used it all (I fabricated the front chassis and axles though)...

I have no idea, however I can tell you that in about 1968 my dad found the corroded remains of one of my Corgi Monte Carlo Minis in the compost heap.

Kids do strange things.

Love the Rat Rods!

After teasing me with having "plans" for the Zodiac, now you're teasing all of us with those before pics above! Looking forward with interest to the updates.

I just hope it turns out as planned 😄

Shops around here have been absolute dross for the last couple of weeks, trudged around 7 or 8 retailers and pegs are absolutely empty or being stocked with stuff from earlier this year. Seems the big supermarkets and the likes of B&M/ Home Bargains around here  are concentrating less on diecast and more on  flogging overpriced shiny plastic shit now that silly season is nearly upon us!

I never thought I'd be saying this a few years ago, but once again Aldi came to the rescue with some recent-ish Hot Wheels, Nothing new that hasn't already been covered on here, but a nice selection nonetheless, I thought.

Seems I have a delivery to look forward to opening, when I eventually park this truck up and get home. (Dog permitting, she's at that stage right now where everything she claps her eyes on is automatically 'hers'...)

Do you have to be on pip to get this scheme
