Some great finds here recently by @flat4alfa & @cms206!

A great collection of Corgi Chipperfields and the Matchbox 305 I have a couple of Norev 305s, but never seen a Matchbox one.

I went to Ford Market today and picked up these for £3, not in the same league, but ok for me

First a Corgi Super Sonics (never heard of them) SAAB 9000

In very tidy condition

A King Size XJ12, never had before

462547626_1382573912713596_2477203934497415672_n.jpg.ef50a82b096f6ff689e135cfc18eacb5.jpg

Has a splat of something on the A pillar and windscreen. Also a Lesney Morris J2 like I had as a kid and the chassis of a Corgi Mk10 Jaag ( @eddyramrod do you have one from me with a broken chassis?)!462583103_501889708977518_6167973127329681008_n.jpg.6297b9e1f0dc98ec9e9aaa4aeb29bf10.jpg

And, it's in primer at the moment, waiting for me to put in a Flowers order, so Yes Please! :)

Found this HW MuskTruck in Tesco just now and duly purchased for Longbridge Jr for Crimbo. Quite a nice little casting.

I'll stick it in your box then unless you want it put on super emergency extra fast delivery order?

They use the same type of pull back motor as a Matchbox Turbo Special - slow pullaway then they fly off. Seemingly very unloved but I've had a few

In the box will do fine, thank you; a couple of weeks won't make any difference.

While we're here: who else is holding a box for me, and where does it stand?  It might be a good idea to get them all squared away for Christmas.

The Jag has revealed it's chrome finish, but it has suffered losses.

I might go up to Hobby Time and see if I can get some glass paint to attempt restoring the original look.

Think chrome is quite unusual, usually they turn up in clear green over a silver base. I wonder if the colour has been stripped off

Looking closer I can see the green inside rear window area

Went charity shop this morning

Saw a box, a recent donation on cabinet behind counter

Was told were throwing it out because  'can't sell 'em, as old and broken'

I looked inside

20241114_165638025_iOS.thumb.jpg.71bf46251e3646cf749392ec10e125c9.jpg

No wonder the big commercial bins out back are overflowing

So I offered a fiver donation to the charity (because, charity) and then walked out with it to sift through

One of those seminal moments in diecast hunting. Years ago at a village fete in Somerset I picked up a paste table full of 50’s/60’s Dinky/Corgi for a fiver, I was cramming the fuckers into carrier bags before someone changed their mind. Get em in the bag and in the back of the car… don’t look back! 🤣

Came home the other night to a pile of parcels

Hot Wheels Plymouth Satellite was obtained as I wanted to find the original vehicles that the "crushed" cars were based on. Sone will be harder than others to obtain!

Excellent find that makes my £65 auction buy look expensive. As mentioned before The Chipperfields stuff is highly collectable, but there's a couple of nice early Matchbox there.

As others have mentioned it is by Corgi. It's a Rocket.

It was originally green like the @bunglebus example, but when I removed the black marker that had been put all over it, what was left of the green finish came away to.

A quick web search answers the question.

It should have a ring in the roof so you can hang it in your Christmas tree.

I've cleaned up a couple more Corgis from my haul.

Adams 4 Engined Drag-Star. I didn't have one of these when I was younger, but I did have the Gloworm Capri, The Quartermaster and teh Wild Honey dragsters. As those were based on actual cars I've done a search for the Adams, but can not find anything.

Being boxed this just had a slight amount of dust on it that washed off quite easily.

Probabaly not of much interest to most on here bit the Corgi site has a Black Friday sale on today until December 2nd. Quite a few Vanguards on offer down from £35.99 to £14.99 including the Series 2 Jag XJ/Daimler Sovereigns and VW Type 2 vans and campers which are pretty recent castings. A couple of Triumph TR5s and TR6s too including the Mimosa Yellow version with hardtop which is a nice wee thing. Did a buy myself, naturally, came out at a smidge over £18 with the postage plus I get a couple of quids worth of reward points, so not bad for a brand new Vanguards model.

The other day on a Facebook group I spotted a listing for a job lot of decrepit old Corgis, so I pounced.  Today...

 a box arrived!

100_1755.JPG.0dc1150d05bc4e0c9b60fd18ad1753cc.JPG

What could possibly be in here?

100_1756.JPG.10dcec4609d56c45650de350804ec223.JPG

Aha, my Marketplace purchase!

100_1757.JPG.a161da5d41ef3588e11960884e86cfa5.JPG

So this is the overview; now let's get a bit closer in.

100_1758.JPG.3c98d620e48ecfbd30806034343058c4.JPG

Airborne certainly has both doors, but one is damaged.  I might be able to wrestle it back into shape, we'll see.  MGB just needs a tailgate, which I can get, and paint.  Cortina needs the brightwork moulding as well as tailgate; I've done that for another one so I know they ain't cheap.  A40 is knackered, I think.  Ferrari is missing the engine cover, which is most of the back of the car, so that'll probably go in my sale stock for pennies.  Mini Marcos just needs some wheels and paint.

100_1759.JPG.bbc1b8886e27eb5dccbe5cfd361b817c.JPG

Porsche means little to me, so that'll be available.  Cadillac ambulance looks rougher than it is, don't quite know what to do with that yet.  Zeph and Camaro are OK.  Oldsmobile and both Impalas are squashed, one Impala doesn't even have any roof.  Still... they have axles and wheels, which I should be able to use.  Jag only has its rear axle, so there's one rehomed already!

100_1760.JPG.0d646902cd0f130ca27833a0bde9751a.JPG

The Mustangs are quite good really; white one needs a door but I can get that.  There's a door card; just no door!  Toronado isn't the best.  Again, don't know what I'm going to do with it.

Not a bad collection of scrap as impulse-buys go!

I do like these little early Honda’s, great looking cars. This one had the faded remnants of a Japanese Yen price sticker on it too so it’s come a long way at some point in the past.

Next up, a white metal Beetle kit in a Brekina box...

Which seems to solve the mystery of where the pre-built one came from. Still reminds me of the Budgie casting

Midget Models kits all appear to be copies of approximately OO scale 1950s toys. The few relevant Google results that aren't dwarf women or MGs include a Singer Roadster that is clearly Dinky Dublo, a Wolseley 1500 and an Austin Cambridge derived from Matchbox and one of those Beetles that is presumably a Budgie copy.

There's a sold ebay listing here that seems to include most of the range. What else do you recognise? The A95 estate is surely another Budgie for starters.

MEGA glow test

Are there any other glow racers that you don’t have (yet!)?

I wonder how big the range was for them.

I'm wondering the same thing! It gets complex because sometimes the same car is called different names depending on which decals it has - but not always

My boss picked this up at a scrap metal place. Thought it might be Dinky but I'm leaving towards another white metal kit now

That's a white metal kit. Without the rest of it it is just about impossible to identify the maker as some many small manufacturers modelled the GT 40.

Also from some of the details such as the lump on the right side door roof, the two small raised parts behind the rear window and the angle of the body rear, it was probably a model of the cars that competed in the 1966 Le Mans.

By the way, the Dinky has an opening engine cover.

Did a bit of marketeering on Friday morning.

Suffice to say, no-one's been missing out lately.

Tat Stall had a few Corgi emergency vehicles and early release Vanguards, priced at a tenner a go.

Naaah.

Some more stuff on the table was a bit cheaper, but not significantly more desirable:

Corgi Classic box van packaged in a Mettoy-era yellow and black box was a new one on me, though:

IMG_20241115_0928262.jpg.7292cfcb157c6d8c71628323c6a4e3b6.jpg

I know it's round the wrong way, but I believe this is its original box, with correctly spaced cutaways for the wheels on the insert - but no codes or anything printed on it, though.

I'd thought the earliest Corgi Classics came in a silver-grey box, like the one to the left.

Possibly a product dating from that unhappy period following Mettoy's bankruptcy - will have a look at my old model price guides when/ if I can be arsed.

Large scale Hot Wheels Lincoln Continental from about 2006 was an oddity:

IMG_20241115_1120282.jpg.3d06c366bf1f74fa2588e0de44adbe4a.jpg

Pity the packaging was so yellow and faded.

Did pick up these two:

IMG_20241115_0857552.jpg.ba8161d92e10ff040481b3f079552330.jpg

Siku Super 1/43 Beetle 1303 Cabrio for our resident VW licker, and a Matchbox Dinky Commer 15 CWT van wearing a Dinky Toys livery, to replace the one I rashly sold on in 2022.

Elsewhere was a bit of a joke. The Antiques Shitshow had these - decent enough pieces, but HFM??

IMG_20241115_1118122.jpg.70dd595378bdfe98eb3227150c862bb8.jpg

Yeah, £35 asking for the Caprice peelermobile; £15 on the Acclaim and on the Thunderbird. £18 for the XJS.

How about 'no'?

The Giffer had these:

IMG_20241115_1119372.jpg.67f32ec4ca5cfb5c2e1261d3e2fa8488.jpg

Again, nice pieces - especially the Tekno Scania bus - but I'm not sure a price band of £25- £40 was all that realistic here.

Even Colin at the Irish Tat stall had nothing of any great interest. The Charity Stall had a lone Corgi Leyland box truck in Coca Cola colours, but that was that.

Which basically left Alan's Emporium as the sole vendor keeping the tat dream alive:

IMG_20241115_1117312.jpg.03f13e8a66652390e49853f862094ea4.jpg

And in fairness, he did. It was worth a guddle in his somewhat chaotic tray.

IMG_20241115_0920552.jpg.6ab3760de870bdbe1fe09c2b2dcad12c.jpg

50p a throw for a Hot Wheels Premium Porsche 982 and a HW Escort MK1? Don't mind if I do.

So - slim pickings, but also good to reassure myself that I'm not missing out on anything stupendous these days...

Seeing that Minor Traveller there - I remember feeling so uncomfortable with Corgi Classic Cars' new packaging for 1994 when they moved from the large, clear plastic boxes with a background which was often specific to the model, to the generic cardboard box. I felt that the material and decoration were cheap and twee.

Also, after coveting the Minor Saloon, I was quite disappointed with the then- new Traveller and Convertible castings. They felt a little smaller than 1/43 and I didn't like the wood effect on the Traveller nor the side screens on the Convertible. I'm not really sure why. I recall I bought both from Wonderland Models in Edinburgh with my very first pay packet.

🤨

How much was the Hot Wheels Conti? Not the easiest things to find, got one or two of the larger VW castings but they don't hang around long on eBay
