Shite in Miniature II

I have had this Polistil Citroen CX for ages.  Several years ago I was experimenting with suitable back drops - this one is in fact a tea tray with an appropriate Frenchness.  At the time, I was not satisfied with the result.  I've just rediscovered the attempt amongst my photo files and thought 'What the hell. Why not post it.'

Had a few deliveries arrive. Sadly, a mint boxed Majorette was sent in a small jiffy bag, so that's the end of the box

Car is thankfully undamaged

Next up is a casting I've tried to buy before but without success - Polistil's somewhat disproportionate MK1 Escort

On the subject of comparisons, another car I've been hunting for for a long time, getting sniped on a nice one not so long ago. In the end I bit the bullet and accepted an offer price on a Hot Wheels Classic 36 Ford Coupe

Dry as a bone around here, even smyths didn't have anything interesting.

That Escort is from the Polistil RJ series. These were 1/55 and 1/66 scale that originally started as the Politoys Penny Series.

However, the 1/43rd scale AE Series Polistil Escort is quite a bad casting as well.

Finished the big Chevy BelAir this afternoon. Nice to do something that’s quick and easy for a change!
Touched up the bumpers with a Molotow pen where the silvering had all peeled off. As always I use a few reference photos of the real cars to get them done and it’s actually surprising just how basic this generation BelAir was! The marker lights on the sides didn’t even get a bright trim around them. Many didn’t even get bright trims around the door window frames.

Austin A55 is almost done too.
Interior is still being painted, it was black with dark red seats so I’ve changed it as it didn’t really work in the bright colour car! Not sure whether to paint the wheels? Maybe white or the turquoise colour with chrome caps? Or leave it as is?

I must say, that A55 casting is a lovely little thing though! Looks really nice when painted in actual colours rather than black. I’m rather glad I have a few more in my stockpile!!

I found a HW Bumblebee Beetle on Wednesday but put it back. I didn't know it was a harder to find one. I've had a few HW Beetle castings pass through my hands like this one.

I thought I'd share some photos of some my Norevs.

For a while, I had an obsession with the vans..so ended up with a few. PXL_20240705_174809861.jpg.b676a052f85f8c3fca4cbecc15cb001a.jpg

Opel Movano and Renault Master. Clearly they just painted the headlight lens with a thin strip of body coloured paint to create the perfect illusion that it wasn't a thin strip of paint on a headlight lens.

PXL_20240705_174653067.jpg.ac1414a7f252ae7f581f238506d149ed.jpg

Curiously the Opel has had the detailing picked out far better but...

PXL_20240705_174719764.jpg.5b1fe63e7eea18374ce63c295fe8020a.jpg

....no tampo printing on the rear.

PXL_20240705_174842761.jpg.a244b0eeaaa2975e2bbb20c8736ff53c.jpg

PXL_20240705_174909307.jpg.96b78ef8e1b908951788fe952168ae03.jpg

Similar story with the Vivaro and Trafic.

As far as I know, the Opels were only issued once, in these colours.

PXL_20240705_175011778.jpg.6fa27b9688f70f26da4c186c77f62db4.jpgPXL_20240705_175020483.jpg.e6bb8d1f578cfa9bc62b73bc20b5007d.jpg

This is also the sole issue of the casting. It's a bloody heavy slab of miniature.

PXL_20240705_175513942.jpg.694999a15758add58813594ea7f1f5c0.jpg

Norev obviously wanted to do every version of the Jumper, including one in 70s bathroom suite two tone.

The camper is absolutely brilliant though. PXL_20240705_175527302.jpg.72e5d53c603ff9817145cf42a0f3e1fc.jpg

For £5, the detail is top.

PXL_20240705_175534921.jpg.a255f816aba1fd9a730b665d4401e554.jpg

Not so good here, but again, £5!

I may post more, but I feel I'm encouraging myself to buy more by doing so.

I've been looking at the Inter-Cars Volvo 244 and Saab 99 I have and very much like them so had a look on ebay. Being very weak willed I bought this T Bird

IMG_9855.JPG.9a21f801d7abb1a05be3f68c3d8e47a1.JPG

Like the others it has opening everything

IMG_9857.JPG.6b53bc703ec8a7012bed1e9affe19ed9.JPG

I have also after I don't know how long got the Hot Wheels Mebetoys Mirafiori finished

IMG_9860.JPG.6d788b0bc9c1fe5f0904561f037daf86.JPG

It came with a broken A pillar and the other one missing and also missing one of the sills, the glazing and the steering wheel

IMG_9861.JPG.11d1aacfa6657acda1b91072a780c85e.JPG

I had originally planned to make it into different livery, but in the end I went for a resto pretty close to original. Not perfect, but it'll do

IMG_9859.JPG.5f4b60f9a9436fb430f7405a0f183dc8.JPG

I've also managed to do some more to the 50p Pilan 480 that had the missing door

IMG_9612.JPG.2bb2d84bb7fd70348deccd82eda637b7.JPG

I didn't get all the detail on the inside

IMG_9614.JPG.9f9110dc7ca9f0f9675f0e4007c8fc9a.JPG

I've just given it a colour coat and left it to harden before I lacquer it

Some minor diecast shelf-raiding this week.

The big Tesco sell-off continues to drain the shelves of stuff worth having:

IMG_20240704_1415492.jpg.ab098474c622b23bfb84d65f428d80e5.jpg

But at least it meant that the Matchbox 5-Packs were now reduced to a fiver a go.

IMG_20240704_1413592.jpg.cdf4954742da66406b48e9e71c939c2c.jpg

Sadly, these were the same two packs I'd already bought back when the half-price Clubcard offer was live at the start of the year. Oh well.

And the rest were the universally unloved Blue Highways III sets.

IMG_20240704_1414522.jpg.7663e1845215af6e78c74f6eb176b181.jpg

^^^ZOMG ERROR PACK MADNESS $$$$ ^^^

Well, how could I not?

IMG_20240704_1506482.jpg.cf7b66fe8f6ba0f719a903e87181286a.jpg

Although, obviously, I've opened it now, so my ultra valuable* investment's probably a bit depreciated.

Lidl also had some of the early 2024 case in, finally:

IMG_20240703_1359092.jpg.8ad0c3c883faf420776de8cf343ea3e5.jpg

No BMW E30 Touring, no MK1 Jag, no red Audi Avant - but I did scoop a couple;  the Ford GT40 is surprisingly tasty, and the Cougar Eliminator is in a very nice shade of bluey-green. The custom Hirohato Mercury isn't the kinda thing that'd usually appeal to me, but it's very nicely done, so... I buckled.

The next day, I found the same selection in Poundland for £1.49 a go.

Meh.

BUT I also found these in HobbyCraft...

IMG-20240705-WA0004.jpeg.bccd515432d7b0e7a2354437b9fd37b2.jpeg

Can anyone guess what these might be useful for...?

That looks like an ideal candidate for a @danthecapriman electric board repaint.

I'm sure he could raise the suspension quite easily, if there was ever a 4wd version used.

Fitted the freshly painted interior back into the A55 today. Just need to make a rear number plate and paint out the front one but that can probably wait. Went around the wheels with white too which looks better than black.

Dug these out too that I’d started months back but never did anything with.

Hot Wheels Chevy Fleetline.
More of a classic look to it now than yet another hot rod. Wheels are awful but I don’t have any alternatives.

Matchbox Chevy Nova.
In a much plainer basic style. Needs lights touching in yet.

Matchbox Morris Minor.
Was the silver 70th anniversary version which doesn’t really suit it imho so since MB have since done one in green I went for blue on mine. Also needs lights touching in.

I like the Nova, just something about it that looks ‘right’ somehow, so hopefully they’ll release it in more colours soon.
The Minor though is a brilliant little casting, looks really good in more suitable colours. Well done Matchbox for that one!

That looks like an ideal candidate for a @danthecapriman electric board repaint.

I'm sure he could raise the suspension quite easily, if there was ever a 4wd version used.

Does look a decent enough little Sprinter model, although I never got one of that type. Both mine were the earlier front style ones (2010 & 2016). The best one was the 2010 one, fantastic van that was!

Im not sure if there is a model of those types?
The earlier one wouldn’t be too hard to do as an SSE van as it was the green & blue livery with pretty simple branding, but the later one had the new plain blue livery with the swoopy power line logo, which might be a pig to make.

I've got stacks of spare wheels, anything in particular in mind? I like the Matchbox ones with hubcaps and beauty rings, can be colour coded too

Bastards!! I do mine blue and then they go and copy me FFS!😆

Those standard Matchbox wheels with chromed centres are probably ideal tbh, a couple of pairs would be perfect. One for the Minor and one for the Chevy…. I can give you the old sets in exchange if you want??

£9.50!!!

@Lord Sterling

They do come up cheaper from time to time, but it's a long game! My personal record for one was £32 for a boxed C6. And it was an auction! Some plainly are more valuable, but others are pretty cheap.

@FakeConcern

Thanks! I do know someone selling the camper for €5.75, they may have more than one, if anyone is interested. I've got a parcel pending with them anyway, so it would only cost you unit price if anyone fancies one.

Saw this in a shop today. Didn’t buy it as I never liked the look of those Dacias, but thought someone on here might like
