Let's have a look at today's assorted bric-a-brac, odds and ends and not forgetting bits and bobs

Those huge tinplate beasts are both by Louis Marx

Terrahawks Rolls

Yes indeed, if memory serves @eddyramrod was after one, whoever it was they did track it down - but I couldn't resist for a quid

Other slightly left-field purchases include another Sze Toys van

PXL_20240623_135117981.jpg.1b2ccb48238dd0bdde78ab394f632482.jpg

Just look at those decals! I do want to collect them all - who wouldn't want 8 Million Dollar Leige and Big Mike? I'm pretty sure Star Angels are all just as attractive as the cast of the coincidentally named Charlie's Angels. I'm also sure there's absolutely no attempt to mimic Corgi's Chevrolet vans here

Anyway...Zee Toys Trans Am doesn't say who made it on the base, but Zee Race Team is a pretty good clue

I don't normally buy Solidos, but a guy had quite a few, along with a load of military Matchbox Superfast/Roll-a-Matics. If they'd have been cheaper I'd have rescued the lot as they were all in lovely condition, despite rattling around in a big box

Did you happen pick up the Hong Kong police transit (the rear end is shown in you last photo, as circled)?

Made by C'sm (I believe they usually made bus models) and are possibly the only 1/43 scale 1995 - 2000 Ford Transit mk3.5 (Smiley grille) models to exist. All were LWB, with 2 different roof height (medium & high roof) versions produced.

They were released in various Hong Kong police liveries, some UK police force liveries were modelled as well (Cambridgeshire, Northumbria & London Metropolitan police force liveries from my hazy memory) There were also some vans produced in Amtrak & Citylink courier company liveries.

(Boxed models with certs etc sell for around £50-£60 plus on ebay)

@matt79 Bugger! No I didn’t, the fella was loading his van and I kinda interrupted him! I picked it up but mistook it for a Russian Transitiski partwork. I did fish one finely crafted £1 oddity out though as I’d never seen one - I’m hoping it can be rescued!
I think i’ve seen these before, but only ever in faded cellophane boxes for much £££ at toy fairs. This one oddly has metallic blue base that looks factory despite being burgundy underneath? Were there two once?

Now you might have spied this in a previous post, its a K-114 Matchbox Superking Scania T-cab that came with either a crane or a bulldozer/grader. Sadly neither could be found but stumping up a grand total of £2 I think got a great deal. There is some cracked tyres sadly, but seemingly no UV damage and everything’s there 👍

It really is a fantastic model, cast beautifully and crisp despite being a Macau era matchbox. The Taylor Woodrow tampos are crisp too, For once this is one superkings that chrome wheels would have improved I think. I bloody love it!

Of course I couldn’t leave its stablemate Superking Iveco behind could I? Model number K-109. Quite a bit playworn but again a £1, its a nicely cast model, if limited in play appeal as nothing opens. Heavy though, quite handy if you were fighting a sibling brandishing a Dinky Merryweather 😁

You did well there, on both those. But, that Scania is absolutely lovely! That was clearly cherished for it to still look that good. I bet most of them went to work outside in the garden with the other construction related toys! It certainly would have if it were mine anyway.

I actually remember seeing those in the shops new, but I never got one😥

I was so obsessed at one time I fitted Corgi wheels to one of the rescue series, just to see if it improved the gawkiness.  It didn't

Yep exactly same here! Old man worked for the council on a big lorry in what we now call recycling so I only got used examples 😂 I’ve just the disposable now to buy the shite I lusted over, no different to the old boys at toyfairs I went to in the 90’s fighting over tinplate Dinky’s I guess!

Some more of todays bargains, this lot less than a Costa, and heading most likely to the @bunglebus diecast VW museum 😉 914 is a Gama and is a sweetie, and looks much better proportioned in the flesh.

The “Thing’s” are Mattel, except ones Matchbox and ones Hotwheels, and both are different!

Went big Car Boot earlier, a different one further afield, as the big local one isn't worth the effort now

There was a whole stand dedicated to diecast and computer games!

Pawed over plenty, but bought nothing.  Cured.

Top of the page .. I had that big crane as a nipper !  1964 _ 65 ? I loved it . My Aunt had ran  toy shop called  Sidney Ross in Chatham , i guess she gave it to me . Possibly old stock , i had tons of  returned toys from her .  I had a wonderful childhood :-P

Let's have a look at today's assorted bric-a-brac, odds and ends and not forgetting bits and bobs

Those huge tinplate beasts are both by Louis Marx

Yes indeed, if memory serves @eddyramrod was after one, whoever it was they did track it down - but I couldn't resist for a quid

Other slightly left-field purchases include another Sze Toys van

Siku Tablot is a lesser seen casting compared to the Matchbox and Corgi efforts

I don't often buy loose Hot Wheels, but I like the heavy feel and looks of the Tail Dragger

Is that a MK1 consul on the left of your £15 bundle?

Some nice ones there.

Theres something about those old Spot-On’s, just something about their looks and the way they feel that their contemporary’s don’t quite manage to match. Lovely things!

I don’t think I’ve ever had the PA, although there’s a PB here somewhere. Pretty sure someone started drilling the chassis off but gave up for some reason! I quite like it’s rough but basically decent original looks though so I’m in two minds about restoring it!

Then I found this Codeg Berliet Auto Carrier Car Transporter Friction

While on the subject, this is a genuine plastic Norev Berliet Transporter, carrying plastic Norevs.  The lowering mechanism is operated by turning the wheel at the bottom

20240623_180709899_iOS.jpg.db9fd4a077c44c8664e9982529308ef5.jpg20240623_180837896_iOS.jpg.0a52bc08bc70fcb80a1a60accf0cb661.jpg

Both the tractor and trailer were searched for last year during that daft transporter collecting debacle and were found separately.  I must get 'round to removing the paint on the tractor unit

A 'genuine' Norev Simca Chambord, showing genuine warpage and missing the rear axle

That banger racer Hunter is fantastic and deserves to remain battered.

I was never interested in scruffy or heavily patinated diecast until getting my teeth into this thread a while back - for years I aimed for the cleanest I could find. If it was still boxed, that was a further bonus.

However, I now like the charm of some of the old used diecast examples - your Hunter is a prime example. I just wish the stories of their past weren't often forever forgotten - it would be great to know more about them.
