Not sure why like this one so much

It’s got squish on one roof side, but being tin-plate, could be encouraged to get back straight

Took apart, freed motor, now running good, but didn’t undo the Squish, because umm well historical artefact..

What is it, 65+ years old?  Anyway, made in Japan, of its time.  Any more tin-plate love?  Thought not

If you're in/ near Mancland later this summer, and have the guts of thirty quid burning a hole in your pocket...

An immersive Hot Wheels experience is coming to Manchester - the first of its kind in Europe

The Hot Wheels City Experience will make its European debut at the BEC Arena in Trafford Park this summer, featuring interactive exhibitions, a gamer zone and the Hot Wheels Lab.

Perfect for fans of all ages, the experience will bring the legendary toy cars to life, offering visitors an exclusive glimpse into the best of Hot Wheels’ expansive collection of cars.

The nostalgic trip will feature a total of 10 interactive stations, including the design centre, where fans can use the latest technology to build their own virtual car, and photo opportunities with exciting backdrops.

Elsewhere, the Hot Wheels Lab will allow visitors to play with the most popular Hot Wheels toys on a pre-built racecourse in the Hot Wheels Challenge Accepted Championships, with the chance to win epic prizes.

There’s also the chance to take home your very own Hot Wheels driving licence – complete with an official lanyard, photo and your name.

Previously set up in São Paulo, this event marks the first time the exhibition has come to Europe. The Hot Wheels City Experience will take place for a month, from 13 August to 12 September 2024.

Tickets go on presale at 10am on 24 April, and on general sale at 10am on 26 April, starting from £27.50 for adults and £22.50 for children

I like the new Moving Parts packaging, but FFS Mattel, would it kill you to have tuck-in flaps on the ends of the boxes rather than gluing the bastards down? I wanted to have this one out but it was impossible to get the glued down flap open without damaging it,

I used a blade to carefully cut the glue, it can be re-stuck easy enough. I did intend to open and showcase the Moving Parts cars I've bought recently but just not had time - saved me a job on the BMW!

Aye, I managed to slide a thin steel rule down it, it'll look alright when it's glued back down. I suppose glued flaps (ouch!)  are easier to deal with than plastic blister packs...

Prototype: Corgi Mini Hot Dog Van

Another of Marcel Van Cleemput's ideas, pictured in 'The Great Book of Corgi':

CHDS9086.jpg.d899a3a3dd827ec62fbf5963678a353c.jpg

Despite having lost its hot dog roof feature over the years (might have been eaten), it still exists today:

CHDS908.thumb.jpg.4db8644a5369eb1aa5b017b4d081133c.jpg

The figure looks to be the standalone figure that came with the Ford Thames (Anglia) Ice Cream van

CHDS9081.thumb.jpg.6b4327088bb249035c55ac3a6efa7d64.jpg

Speedy on a Mini Cooper S chassis!

CHDS9082.thumb.jpg.959cb65568b190bcb94f1aafff884521.jpg

Starting bid was £300 and it ran to £1700 plus commission

Sounds like a good idea for recreation...

Provenance is surely everything with that, you could knock something up and claim it was a prototype and stick it in an auction.

Maybe he removed the hot dog to improve the handling? I can't imagine it being very stable or aerodynamic with the massive high roof and then a giant sausage on top of that.

Several months ago someone requested a Matchbox Autozam as they knew someone involved in their design - can't find the post now as the search function isn't the greatest. Anyway - I found two in B&M today

They have 20% off toys this week

PXL_20240424_095722398.jpg.e643a2e50d9176f0a21e87de4754593a.jpg

And lots of Matchbox including that orange Kadett that was so hard to find originally

Think that was @Surface Rust?

I've been keeping an eye out, but haven't seen any since the request was made.

Thanks for remembering, I got one in the end, it was in a job lot on here.

I gave it to my colleague who worked on their development and he was made up, as he can't afford a real one!

I'll see if he'll forward me the photos from his development days.

Got myself a mk2 Escort, but decided to go for the cheaper Maxichamps version instead of the usual Vanguard’s.

Looks good to my eye. If I was to be critical I’d say the grill and headlights are slightly too far forward giving the the front a flush appearance but overall a good effort I think.
It’s nice to find one that’s not an RS or Mexico or yet another rally car.

I noticed this earlier, and it increased my enamourment with the model.

Good point, now deleted the post as your post trounces it!

I hadn't realised there were so many survivors.  Another seen when I was on the Mini factory tour Oxford in around the same time.  It was in the entrance foyer, presume it is the one that is part of the BMW Group Classic’s heritage collection:

That's all very nice BUT I don't know how you keep your house so tidy  😮

My house is all boxes within boxes and will probably be featured on TV in the series on hoarders named HOUSE CLEARANCES FOR TWATS

An eBay job lot has arrived today at work but worried what reaction I may receive from the Mrs when I get home… I’m supposed to be having a clear out, not buying more with the proceeds 😂
