Then I moved on to this. This is my favourite. The tractor from the original Technic series circa 1978. This is a lovely model. Really well proportioned, lovely precise rack and pinion steering (one up on real tractors of the era). And the lever just in front of the OSR wheel raises and lowers a series of different machinery which engages with the cog you can see at the rear. This is driven from one of the rear wheels.

Not shite but I'm picking this up tomorrow.

I saved £50 off the price being asked in the Lego shop by getting it from John Lewis. Asda Online also has it for a similar price.

Cannot wait to build it!

I wonder if it can be made to resemble an ERF EC11?

Yes, real tractors, like the Lego one, have changed out of all recognition in the last 30 years haven't they.

That Actros is the next one on my list. I got my wife the Racing Truck for Christmas '15, I've done the tractor so I reckon it's her turn to build one.

You can look up the mods online to change it to either an articulated rig, remote control - or both.

+1 on John Lewis, the Claas came from there for a massive chunk off the Lego shop, I think it was just shy of £80 instead of £130. It's currently just under £90, still a decent saving.

I had those two plus the f1 car back in the 70s & as said proper Lego.

I've got two of those Volvo car transporters. The red one, which I had as a childhood toy, it's in very playworn condition as it was a favourite of mine as a kid.

I've also got a blue one with a matching blue drawbar car transporter trailer. This ones in much better condition though.

I'd forgotten about them til you posted that pic!

Here's a few more of my 1/43's.

Matrix Ford Custom, resin.

The next two are favourites, as they're models of cars I own (ish)!

The Capri is actually a really nice model considering it's a die cast not a resin, and cost about half what the other resin models cost. The shape looks really good to me, some other manufacturers don't quite get the look and shape right on Capri models but these really do look right.

I have that Minichamps Capri, shame they put Mk3 rear lights on them, have it in white with beige roof too

That is my only criticism of it tbh, other than that it just looks 'right' to me.

I looked at another make Capri (might have been Vanguards?) and it didn't look quite the right shape to me. I still want a Volvo 740 in 1/43. Estate preferably.

It's funny... having owned a 244 saloon and a 740 estate, the only models I can find are 240 estates and 760 (close enough) saloons, at least in the mass market.  There is a Neo Models 740 estate, but it's never cheap when one appears.

That blue Ford sedan would look the part with a red Kojak light on the roof.  Pure Dirty Harry!  Just saying, like... ;)  Posed chasing the Mercury, perhaps...

It was about 40 pages back when I said I was making a 1:32 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for a Scalextric track.  After a long time I got the CAD model looking right

chitty13_CAD_zps0eh9aazc.jpg

chitty14_CAD_zpsfdfkxess.jpg

But it needed loads of changes to get the steering mechanism to work.  I put the guide under the car so it would be hidden better, this makes the steering a bit of a faff.  I couldn't get any existing tyres to work, the vintage Scalextric cars had too high a sidewall so I had to get some tyres cast specially for it.  The bodyshell was 3D printed and from there I made a silicone mould and resin cast it.

There are lots of separate parts too; the exhaust manifold, lights, windscreen, gear lever & handbrake, steering wheel, horn, spare wheel, front leaf springs and driver.

Eventually it's finished.

I also got the 1:32 Harrington Legionnaire coach on the track.  Here's what goes into the kit - it took a lot of sourcing!

This is how it looks, posing for a photo

And on the track, this took about 2 hours to shoot!

Well it got a bit more of an outing a few weeks ago at a slot car exhibition.  More overhang than a Buick, front and rear

It's astonishing how right that Harrington looks oversteering its way around the track like that. Amazing work.

WHAT.

It has a track INSIDE the coach body?

That's astonishing.

Yes, it's obvious really. A stack of work and all that, but it's better than spending my evenings watching TV

Any interest in this? A Bburago 1/18 Ford Focus WRC. I built it years ago from a Kit, never applied the transfers, though these are supplied. Has the box though the box is a bit tatty. In absolutely mint condition as I built it then put it in the loft as I'd got to the age where I'd gone off shit like this. £20 posted. Most of them with stickers on are on at £25-30 on fleabay.

Thanks, I loved that! Just watched a couple more clips of it on YouTube. The clip from Pendle slot racing I was cheering you on. Best thing I've seen in ages. Especially when the blue one takes several attempts to get in. I was almost shouting 'GO ON, GO ON!!!' at it. I salute you.

Here's a couple of snaps of my white Minichamps Capri2 with a couple of modifications, roof needs to be plack, and needs a chin spoiler though. Boot spoiler from a Vanguards 2.8i Capri, had to jack up the rear axle on both mine as they didn't sit right, wedged a but of card under the diff hump, job jobbed.
