Do actually have a Crescent Toys Mercedes Benz 2.5 Litre back here anyhow...!  😇

It lives on the back of this transporter

Along with a Crescent Aston Martin DB3S, a Spot-on Jaguar XK SS and a Corgi Lotus Mark Eleven

No I don't know why I haven't got round to repainting them either

Tucked on the back of a transporter, they've been forgotten about.

A change to one of my saved eBay searches revealed a few Lucky Toys I'd not noticed previously, some buys were done. This Z-car (260?) is the first to arrive, just missing a headlight which I'm sure can be rectified

It says scale 1:34 but here it is pictured next to the Escort which is definitely 1/36 and its way bigger!

Here's a few more pictures:

20230506_162745.jpg

I see no reason that Dodge shouldn't be 1/34.  It is much bigger than the Escort, yes, but rightly so, the full-size vehicles would sit at a similar ratio.  A better comparison would be Corgi's Chevy Caprice.

@MiniMinorMk3, PM me about your Mini Marcos.  I can help you out!

I'm way behind the curve on CMC releases, and not really a big fan of MGs. However this is a seriously nice bit of kit, if the original version is this good I'm not surprised it was a hit

Started Zephyr restoration, it’s now sitting in a tin of brake fluid. Not sure what to do with the broken pillars, think araldite will do it?

Im restoring it for my dad for Fathers Day, he went on holiday in a Zephyr in the sixties in one in a sage green colour so that’s the plan. Not sure what insect lived in the nearside rear wheel arch...

Weird looking nest! I’ve found quite a few with spider webs inside lately but luckily nobody was home! Which is good as I’m scared shitless of spiders.
I usually dunk the cars in the water for a wash and see if anything swims out.😁

It lived in my workshop for 2 years then in Eddy’s lock up for god knows how long. It’s white underneath so I think it was originally a Z cars one. Full restoration job, assuming the pillars can be fixed then it’s new doors, glazing, bumpers, tyres etc. Probably £20 worth of work by time I’ve done, but the satisfaction when it’s on the side completed is priceless.

Are the pillars there, just cracked? If so, glue, superglue or araldite will work but I'd concentrate it on the outside of the pillars as it's hard to shape on the inside and will prevent the glass sitting flush.

Brake fluid's not the fastest method but it shouldn't harm the metal at least. Beware of caustic soda on old castings...

I’ve all the parts so maybe superglue then sand it back. The bumper was good but broke upon removal so another £3.25...

I think I have a spare wheel for the Mini Marcos @MiniMinorMk3if you PM me your address I'll stick it in an envelope for you. Funny about the sliding seats, I often find I didn't know things about my old Corgis, but now wonder if I just forgot haha.

Here are my Marcos' (Marci? Marcoses?)

IMG_6658.thumb.JPG.b6ebd03ce69827f9952d7d81e539d01c.JPG

I deliberately took the headlamp lenses off the Mini (as a kid) as I didn't like them! The body colour headlights on the other two look weird!

Somehow the Volvo has lost the dash and steering wheel and I haven't found anywhere that offers a repro for me to restore it.

Shame the Whizzwheels doesn't have opening doors as they look great.

So here is what I got. A few sellers took money off without me even asking which was great. Its so long since I've been to a Swapmeet I forgot that can happen! Showing you are interested in something seems to be important.

I got these three for a quid each.

20230506_133922.thumb.jpg.d0a98ec1ec16b1f9e03c9835ec69d0af.jpg

The Corgi 1/36 Rancho is the only casting I don't have and it's almost mint, bar a slightly winky aerial. I didn't know these came with a W registration!

I've got a few Corgi MK3 Escorts but not a 1/36 Crystal green. One seat back missing but again quite nice for a quid.

I have also been after a shonky Hong Kong Dinky SD1, again at a quid this is great.

Polistil Beta is nice with a metal base:

20230506_134009.thumb.jpg.f190a391808ee68cab4bbbaf17d13058.jpg

I paid £3 for this but annoyingly I found another one in blue at a nearby stall for £2! Never mind, its superb anyway.

Since getting my Corgi car transporter and the recent discussion about Corgi MGBs and C, I have been on the look out for one. There were a few to choose from, this one cost me a tenner and looks OK.

20230506_134021.thumb.jpg.a86523165277f9fb08c3e5aaec5f7d95.jpg

This was 8 quid down to a fiver. Obviously not much paint left but its otherwise very solid and the glass is very clean.

20230506_134044.thumb.jpg.5018543131d5d7c909718a699581959c.jpg

I had to have this original 75, quite salty at 15 quid but its pretty clean.

20230506_134121.thumb.jpg.e25c45af7042d167d9380d76e574d306.jpg

2 Ambulances were £12 for the pair. CF is very clean and goes with my 5 series from the same range.

20230506_134146.thumb.jpg.07da9e4243551c259571c3219763e9f3.jpg

Polistil Dodge van was a must have for my collection but its a very strange scale. Id say about 1:28

20230506_134201.thumb.jpg.2b8c7042f7b405ebc15caa8f55a24349.jpg20230506_134221.thumb.jpg.e75cc5c589d363e7467533ac7919e7b8.jpg

Very pleased all round but I could not do this every month as I'd quickly run out of room.

Some great buys there, but my fave is the MGC, I'd love a yellow one and have bid on a few on ebay and got out bid each time. The trouble with ebay is the postage cost.

I have a Rover 75 somewhere, I want to dig it out now, mine's not nice like the one you got though that's lovely!

The MG’s are a lovely model from Corgi. I really like the writing on the boot of the B too, lovely little detail! Those wire effect wheels look ace too.
I didn’t realise the B was meant to have a suitcase in the boot though.

Here's mine, which I fished out from storage at my folk's house, just before I dropped in to visit, last year. I'd hazard a guess it'd not seen the light of day in 25 years.

Seen here with the Suzuki SJ, that appears to have benefitted* from some early 90's felt tip scribbling.

Screenshot_20230507-224704_Gallery.jpg.f4145839b62c09bd9435193591e4d466.jpg

Even has the period mod blu tac appliqué, since the tailgate is liable to flap down - too many occasions of stuffing a micro machine in the back, presumably (I'd pretend they were some sort of giant RC car, as I once saw a photo of a 1/8 scale R25 Turbo).

I'm not sure I offered many photos of the stuff I found back home, so should update at some point.

Finally finished my garage off last week (rewire, new ceiling, cladding, insulation, decorating, Ikea cabinet’s and a new tiled floor) and thought I’d start populating the shelves, round one subject to many more shuffles to come! Top was too high to see so in went some Beswick and Trentham artware (obviously I have other afflictions….).

Especially likely to shuffle as I’ve just got back from the toyfair and have obviously bought more crap 🤣

The transporters will probably give way for more 1/36 and end up in the right cabinet - I’m thinking for a release date display? Anyway expect a few more shots in the future!

This arrived yesterday. Hmm, this might go down on here like a pint of stale piss but here goes,

IMG_20230507_134310.thumb.jpg.aab2660d9f2bb21d40bc9e4b46116929.jpg

Featuring the funky new packaging. Carbon fibre look, very fetching, if not very "classic"...

IMG_20230507_134221.thumb.jpg.07345c875378a8a37278065ea517e725.jpg

Now,  I am guilty of posting new and modern models on here, even though the subjects themselves tend to be older cars. '70s, '80s, '90s, are where my interests are mostly. But Ive always liked hot hatches, especially in lairy colours and some do build up a bit of a following even when they are fairly new. There has been a lot of wailing and headbutting of keyboards among the Vanguards collecting community since the announcement of the more modern releases. Frankly I'm still scratching my head over the Ranger/Raptor and Tranny Custom, but when I saw this Focus ST announced, I actually quite fancied it.

IMG_20230507_134337.thumb.jpg.558ae1d0dcadf929396ceca05eab01aa.jpg

IMG_20230507_134928.thumb.jpg.fcbee68a463db82f4aa6e32ec28bac67.jpg

I love the colour Tangerine Scream, it just suits the car. They also do the RS version in Nitrous blue, another typical lairy Fast Ford colour, but the black wheels on it are awful, the likes of Cararama or Welly would have rejected them for "looking a bit on the cheap side m8"

IMG_20230507_012042.thumb.jpg.472f33f32f0d2b51d77019fdf832618d.jpg

The ones on this aren't the greatest, but better. The tiny Ford logos look good, and we have disc brake detail and coloured calipers for the first time from Corgi.

IMG_20230507_135414.thumb.jpg.1cd857c590a2487cb32de02d66f04d1d.jpg

There are signs that they are trying at last to match Minichamps type detail, with sensor detail on the front screen and a seperate roof aerial, another first.

IMG_20230507_012251.thumb.jpg.07b1077dd450810c0b24aaeefc76899b.jpg

IMG_20230507_011044.thumb.jpg.7b2e1f697e5be1e8b91fc2e9bbefe406.jpg

It does seem that on these modern releases, the extra detail they have had to include is at the expense of others. Most of the front end is up to the usual standard, great grilles, headlights and miniscule ST badge. But painted on foglights????

IMG_20230507_012005.thumb.jpg.9d680d1638dfc141be0fc685811c5cf0.jpg

At the back, all is pretty good, apart from the moulded in wiper... Liking the ST tailpipes, need a bit of black detailing though.

IMG_20230507_011714.thumb.jpg.e11c11267dacfb01f29fa325789ee50e.jpg

The interior detail scores well, this is where Corgi have had to pull their fingers out to match other manufacturers and they have upped the interiors in recent years. This is the ST2 version which came with colour matched leather bolsters and the ST logo stitched into the front seats, replicated here.

IMG_20230507_011812_edit_21254505147277.thumb.jpg.025f5eaa197e6538a0ec9200e6980002.jpg

The silver spokes and tiny Ford badge on the wheel are neat too,

IMG_20230507_012202.thumb.jpg.d6ac5b54215f5fe14f3aedd2914a7f7e.jpg

So yeah, a bit modern, but makes a nice companion to the iScale Astra GTC I got recently.  Won't be long till these are regarded as modern classics and attracting OSF tax anyway probably...
