I have one of those containers, it always seems like you get the whole artic in stages! A tractor unit here, container there.

Picked up a Matchbox Capri in the light green plus a F150 which I haven’t got round to looking at. Glad there’s some sort of concerted efforts to provide Matchbox at various retailers, B&M might be a good shout.

We had a Westland Sea King Helicopter fly over earlier.

It came back and stopped, hovering above, making a right racket.  We haven't seen the cat since.

It lowered some heavy cargo down to our garden, causing much curtain twitching throughout the neighbourhood.

Whilst I was signing the delivery note, Farmer Tom appeared from nowhere and staked a claim to it - before I got the chance to look at it.  Which is just as well, as the wife was in.  Good delay tactic there, old Tom.

The note states it was sent over from deepest Hampshire by a @danthecapriman

Late last night, when everyone had gone to sleep

A surreptitious box opening happened.

Lastly @Datsuncog I’m aware I’ve owed you money for the green C4 for a few weeks. I kind of thought as you have one put by for me I’d see if anything came up on Tat Friday if you don’t mind. However I was out last Friday and tomorrow will be driving to and from Norwich so again probably not available. Could I ask if you see any more C30s cheap, then get them for me even if they’re gold?

However if you’d like me to pay for the C4 now, please let me know.

Just to pick up on this - there was no £1 Matchbox/ Hot Wheels tub there today, but I'll keep a weather eye out for any more C30s that turn up!

Absolutely no rush on the wee C4; happy to see if anything else shows up for you to make a parcel worthwhile!

Do like that colour.  It's on the Majorette Citroen CX I had as a boy

I am a spanner.

The donor (in my head) got repainted some time ago into a Jerry Leadbetter homage

And I didn't know there is this (tattier) 'touring club de france' example back here, in the funky copper colour!   Would be shame to break it, but it is an excellent donor...

Which means if someone else REALLY wants the tailgate-less Volvo instead of daft me (if they were pipped at the post), then they are welcome.  Otherwise into the CogBox #22 it goes and 'touring club de france' becomes a pickup.  Probably*

Should be either Maisto or MC Toys

I didn't get a lot of time to look for toys today, but I can report Smyths and Tesco near Excel had nothing of interest - Tesco had literally no Hot Wheels or Matchbox singles. Didn’t get time to look in the Poundland/Sainsbury's/B&M/TX Maxx nearby due to time constraints

However this was waiting for me when I got home

20230203_192315.thumb.jpg.c75832471c64719db58f68b3ae2c0bef.jpg20230203_192352.thumb.jpg.207861a6de3f05b983a17bc4386a553d.jpg20230203_192512.thumb.jpg.8b7f160fc2de5f703ef5118c22c72074.jpg20230203_192505.thumb.jpg.db1f658718d8565f1de02db2d2b01336.jpg20230203_192532.thumb.jpg.3e9fe91e9a9763227330b355945530f9.jpg20230203_192537.thumb.jpg.f1abaddc7e08adbefa6f7ae67e7b752c.jpg

And through the magic of buying two of them:

20230203_200902.jpg

20230203_201242.jpg

20230203_200934.jpg

It might not have any moving or opening bits, but this would have been right up my street as a kid. However I first laid eyes on one in a toy shop window in Rushden about 10 years ago, and was impressed enough to find myself one - I can't actually remember if I bought the one he had on display or resorted to eBay in the end

Well, more swings and roundabouts today, kids - which I suppose is pretty much how it goes most weeks.

You'd think I'd be used to it by now.

First up: BUSES.

I know I say it every week, but crikey - for someone who sets up stalls on a bi-weekly basis, you'd think he'd be better at it by now.

Or maybe he just chucks it out like that cos it gives me something to do.

Once tidied a little, here's what we have this week:

Mostly older stuff - though the Dart at the top right is a Code 3 repaint.

More Atlas mystery coaches, too.

I can't remember if the Western National/ Badgerline Mercedes Hopper is the same as the one I picked up for @Cookiesouwest last year?

MoYs and Days Gone. Roll up, roll up.

1466619433_IMG_20230203_0809332.thumb.jpg.b7acab3dc26048daccb1e66ced2b6244.jpg

Royal Wedding noncemobile packaging has taken a battering. Certainly a smidge unappealing, for all manner of reasons...

Although, this Renault van does have some appeal - maybe we should be re-evaluating some of these 1950s era DGs?

I really liked these at the time - the Morris LD150 profiled yesteday was a really nicely done model (though once I procured a City Models version in 1/43, it's fair to say the Lledo example fell out of favour a bit).

Hard to know what to do with all the Ford Model T vans, though - this looks like a very early Oxford Diecast product.

Unfortunately the Herpa Setra coach wasn't there this week - though that doesn't mean it won't resurface at some point in the future...

I had to consult my messages, as my memory is terrible. Last year it was the Manchester liveried version :)

Much nicer than the corgi juniors example.

Never, no.  I'm not making it up, there is a Matchbox void in this area of the country.

Also missed out on the Moving Parts '83 Buick Riviera in red. In saw one or two, left it, but then never saw one again

Roped into shopping duty tomorrow so I might nip into Tesco if other locations are still knocking out Capris, but I dont hold out much hope though. I've only  ever found the yellow one, I have a sneaking suspicion the Capris don't even make it onto the pegs in our one...

Cookie's occasional diecast sale.

So, a decision has been made. I'm having a clear out, of non bus related die cast. Even the ones from my childhood (can't remember if I told you all, that all my matchbox from when I was a nipper have been discovered).

Anyway, first up are these, that have been in a drawer since purchase in the summer.

If you want pics of a particular model, shout.

Price? Umm no idea. 50p each for the little ones and a quid for the two Eastern europe yellow ones and the Texaco. If that's unacceptably high, then make an offer for the one (s) you want.

Majorette even faithfully recreated Volvo's annoying use of saloon rear doors on the estate.

The one I picked up at Brentwood last month was the same colour, but with the other wheel style:

Seen here with the CX estate I picked up on the same day, in What Car? group test mode.

That Majorette 240 is definitely my favourite casting of the 240 in that scale. It looks really good, certainly better than Corgi’s effort that looks squished!

Ive only got the plain copper-ish colour one but it’s complete. Seen here parked next to an Oldsmobile!

I do get frustrated with Mattel's blindness to their being anyone outside of America that might possibly want Hot Wheels and Matchbox, especially when they release a store exclusive that I really want! Was rather a lot more than a regular Hot Wheels but considering the recent supermarket price hikes, not that much more...
