Matchbox tipper is a curious one.It has non-metallic paint,a plastic base,& Made in China on the base

Some nice bits there, Darda and Cavalier especially - what's the green and orange one at the back?

The Atlas is listed on Wiki as coming in a light blue with yellow bed, Chinese made from a 1991 3 pack

It has come up on the FB Vanguards page that there have been a couple of occasions of the Corgi Capri "Screen Stars" packs having a bit of a 'factory error' ie either two silver cars or two gold cars.

So, of course I had to open mine up before it gets put away for Christmas, just to make sure it's all correct...

IMG_20220828_151607.thumb.jpg.8fba50a6a8aa43db1ebbc35d9ae8a442.jpg

Ah yes, that looks okay!

IMG_20220828_151320.thumb.jpg.e3a011fc33e815ea05ee0edd9fe3b1ea.jpg

So, these are models of the cars featured in the final series of The Professionals, distinguished from the earlier Capris by the  RS 4 spoke alloys. Despite being in no doubt to enthusiasts as to what the cars are, Corgi have been very careful not to name the series, as apparently it would have been too expensive to use Professionals branding. (As was the case with the previous release of the earlier Capri UOO 303T,  the two Cortina S models from the Sweeney, and the Life on Mars Cortina. Though the Ashes to Ashes Quattro and Quattro/Granada releases did get branded packaging). Apparently if this edition sells well, (which it seems to have) there should be more of the Screen Stars editions to come. Might we finally see the Vanguards Consul and Mk3 Cortina as NHK 295 & 296M from The Sweeney? Even a Cortina and police Allegro pairing from Life On Mars? Hopefully, as the castings are there...

IMG_20220828_151738.thumb.jpg.42d8a145db493aab16c25da718ac6eff.jpg

Being based on existing Vanguards castings, the cars are hard to fault. Correct reg numbers for the screen cars (from the Ford press fleet obv)

IMG_20220828_151941.thumb.jpg.25443ba4336f0b8cb906c3464cff98b3.jpg

Nothing wrong from the rear either. Great lights, great badging and correct twin exhausts.

IMG_20220828_151857.thumb.jpg.fb3ba063204038ca61040b733bf1e225.jpg

IMG_20220828_151911.thumb.jpg.52b22823ca05acef48b7bd8c0f7bada2.jpg

It's getting on a bit now and spawned countless variants, but the Vanguards Capri casting is still a good one.

IMG_20220828_152415.thumb.jpg.c7d98aa7df7311c970c997cca036cc0f.jpg

IMG_20220828_152446.thumb.jpg.af861d2018a74da5487f5992a8e4897c.jpg

Also good to see that these get the interior trim detailing recently introduced on Vanguards models, so we have the Carla check as featured on the S. Open headrests too although sadly lacking the "fishnets" as in the Minichamps Capri, but the effect is still good.

 Altogether now,1205168692_IMG-20210204-WA0012(1).thumb.jpg.d4052dc5b58a2bd9f6121035a018bcf7.jpg

"Three inches?"

"Four!"

Only those in the inner sanctum may view it; the rest of us plebs must wait outside the temple holding our boggo red Countachs with slightly wonky axles.

Seriously though, that does look like summat out of the ordinary; well found!

Its intriguing for sure! I liked my car being a Countach but I never really liked the red colour, it’s look great in silver,  just as my favourite combo - the Lazer one.

The Kojak Buick is great. I've had a few in my time and still have the smaller version. It's incorrectly labeled as a Buick 'Regal' when its in fact a Century Regal though.

And boy am I pleased. There’s a 1/43 of a Lada Oka (which will probably go to a mate), a Nova, Mk2 and Mk3 Escorts, two 2CVs, a Dyane, a Rover 800, a Volvo 480, a Citroen CX, a Beetle, a Minor, a Renault Express and even a Matra Rancho!

With the exception of the Express, the Minor and the Oka, all of them are going on the ‘to be restored’ pile.

Opening parts Matchbox - my favourite Matchbox car was the red with white top Challenger

I did already have one, but spotted another at the boot sale for £4 so this one's getting opened

Had a bit of a 'mare today, thought we'd try a different boot sale but despite showing as on Sunday and BH Monday, it was deserted - their FB page hasn't been updated since 2020 so I suspect it is defunct. We ended up going to Dunton instead which is huge but also over-run with market type stalls selling cheap junk, plus it's all gravel paths so dusty and hard on the feet. Only a few diecast sellers, all of whom had somewhat higher prices than I prefer to pay.

Still, I had some interesting finds and came to a fair agreement buying bundles of cars.

Continuing with Matchbox, this is undoubtedly the best find. Miss BB was going through a box under a table and just handed me this without saying a word

Please tell me you bought that garage!  That's the kind of childhood relic that really needs to be saved, especially the home-made types.  I have two.

Re the Kojak Buick above: Century and Regal were essentially the same car, with differing trim specs, like say Zephyr and Zodiac.  I think Regal was the lower line, but I could be wrong; I owned a later Century but so far that was the only Buick I've owned.  The chap in the back was always present in the original issue: it's Sgt Bobby Crocker, as played by Kevin Dobson in the TV series.  I'm a bit confused by his positioning though, as I don't remember an episode that featured him and his boss (Kojak) being chased by the bad guys with enough determination to get Crocker leaning out and shooting back at them.  Also, I remember the on-screen car as being black, but Corgi always went with the Sweeney Bronze in both scales.

No, sorry - he wanted £25 for it and I just don't have anywhere to put things like that. I did like the lifts, sadly one was broken and the other glued to the floor of the garage - any idea who made them?

I don't think even I would have paid £25 for it.  Shame.  As for the lifts, obviously I would need to get a close look to be sure, but I know both Lone Star and Morestone made lifts; probably several other makers too.  Something is nagging at me saying it's not Lone Star, but I can't put my finger on why I think that.

For a long time that Majorette Accord was my favourite car to play with in the school playground. No idea why. It originally came with a silver trailer and colour-matched (but somewhat cheapo in construction) sailing boat.

I don't recall the Kojak Buick being black and I've seen every episode of series 1 to 3 (You Tube pulled them after that as it was an illicit channel). Need to check now!

Hmm, seems its actually very, very, very, very, very dark brown!

The Juniors example I have is an even lighter shade.

Visited an Antiques fair for the first time in ages, and while she examined the vintage jewellery I wandered off totally unattended….. of course as we all know the lure of loose cash in ones pockets always brings temptation,  however this time I could hear the ghostly chants of @RoadworkUK &  @eddyramrod egging me on whistling in my ears…. BUY IT BUY IT….. they chanted - and I buckled!

Well that’s my story and I’m sticking to it 😉

So the crisp £20 note in my pocket begged to have a new owner, and off it vanished in exchange for this Z3 Coupe, lightly  crumpled box and all.

It’s a UT models 1/18th diecast and it really is lovely. Doors and bonnet open, the interior has the blue seats just like the real thing. Under bonnet is nicely done though the chassis is a little bare. Still I think it’s delightful.

Yes you can tell the Bulgarian one's as the doors don't open ( only glow widows one has fixed windows for UK).
