Ah another fan! Think one of the Morvair videos came up as a recommendation and I've been watching ever since, and of course now I have to watch Fab Rats and the progress of the Golden Nugget too...

Right, I tried this the other day and the post kept on reproducing my pictures at the end of my post despite them already being on the post.

Anyway, I have a small selection of recently purchased 1/43s. I have tried to stay away from 1.43s and concentrate on 1/18s but some of the ones I've picked up were so low priced, it was too irresistible to pass.

So, I have a Corgi Vanguards Austin Allegro and a Rover P6 V8, a Corgi Rover 2000 "Golden Jacks" and courtesy of @bunglebus I have a Solido Renault 4 "La Poste" van:

20220706_093653.thumb.jpg.8178d148b18a978c7d77876f837462cc.jpg

I've always wanted a Golden Jacks Rover since I first knew about them. They were quite pricey though and many had the spare wheel "Rover" emblazoned lid missing.

The great thing about the Golden Jacks Rover is that the spare wheel cover has its "Rover" emblazoned lid still which many, many examples no longer have. Again, cheap for what it was given very similar examples are going for £40+ etc...

Rover comparison:

Despite being technically made by the same manufacturer (Corgi) the Rover P6s are quite different, the Vanguards Rover is much better in its proportions and looks. The Golden Jacks Corgi Rover is not as good and lacks a lot of detail (hence the added details)

Both though have jewelled headlights and thats about it for similarities.

The Vanguards is much higher in fidelity, but that Golden Jacks is just gorgeous.

The Golden Jacks Rover is lovely. Corgi made a couple of other variants of the Rover P6 2000 which did not have removable wheels:

I think the Blue one may have been the first possibly and the red one the last of the line given the wheels which are also found on my Corgi 1.36 Minis.

I have or had the early pale blue P6 (repainted) but I have never looked carefully at the Whizzwheels version before, and hadn't appreciated that it depicts a Series 2 car like my full-size one, might have to hunt one down but they don't seem very common.

Love those late P6 Corgis with the Triplex roof. Were they ever an actual thing or just a prototype?

I think Triplex roof was a thing but rare:

Wife bought me this today, not a massive Audi TT fan but as a model it’s very good. Pictured here with it’s predecessor!

I have the MK1 but in silver. Clearly a Realtoy but badged as a Corgi.

It’s a Matchbox, I think it’s an original casting, the date says 1998 underneath so that would probably predate any Realtoy. For some reason the modern cars are done at the same scale, the older ones like the Capri etc seem to be done much smaller?

I’m made up today… after years of searching I’ve finally bought an RC car that I had as a kid. These normally go for strong money in worse condition than this but I managed to win it for £52 😎

So I’m home and obviously opened it almost straight away 😆

It’s in lovely condition but isn’t very fast but maybe that’s a result of being stuck in a cupboard for over 30 years?

Just got back from holidays, had a couple of packages awaiting me, but firstly there's one other car I obtained from a 2p machine

Quite nicely detailed but not really my thing - will probably be a wheel donor. It had friends that I didn't try and win

For deliveries there were just two, a 99p win mainly for this Zylmex Crazy Wheels buggy

But there were other nice bits including another Zee...

Package two contained the latest Corgi Club offering, no doubt already showcased by @Datsuncogwho's on an earlier delivery schedule than I am

Lastly I want to show you this, which has a bit of a back story.

I don't really do motorbikes, but many years ago when my mate and I were stupid teenagers, he acquired a blue Honda C70 which we used to go out on without any legal requirements such as a licence, tax insurance MoT etc. Not the cleverest idea but 30 years ago the roads were a lot quieter and ANPR wasn't really a thing. We never got stopped but had some interesting incidents involving slow punctures, a broken throttle twist grip and inexperience. We lived to tell the tale and when Hot Wheels released a Honda Cub I knew what had to be done

It seems Mattel modeled a newer Super Cub but it's close enough.

This is why I bought a load of motorcycles at the boot sale, it needs spoked wheels so swaps will be investigated

Heh, sadly not - although my Olds was supposedly dispatched way back at the beginning of June, it never showed up. I rang Corgi Model Club's customer services mid-month, and there appeared to have been some confusion about the change of address I'd advised them of back in May. So they told me to give it to the end of June and see if it showed up.

Nope, no sign of it (and nothing arrived at the old address) so I rang again last Friday and they said they'd send me out another one.

Still no sign of the replacement either.

*Sigh*

Good to see yours, though - and that Majorette K70 looks awesome too!

Hunting through the loft for car boot stuff and found this Franklin mint jaguar ss100. It was bought by my late nan and grandad when I was born circa 1988, and kept on display in a glass cabinet until Nan passed away in 2011. It was boxed up and given to me soon after. All the box and paper work it with it. Unfortunately the chrome plated parts are going green. Is there anything I can do to resurrect the chrome bits? It’s value is pittance unfortunately but has huge sentimental value.

I'm in the doghouse.

Yesterday another 1/18 scale car arrived (1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser) and today, a box of four Vanguards including, at long last, a Zephyr 4.  (Also Hillman Minx, Vauxhall Viva and Rover 3500S which has gone straight into the movie cabinet)

Cheers Datsuncog! It’s an absolutely corking little model of probably my favourite looking car of the 70s (Aussie Falcon XB gets an honourable mention). I was going to liberate it straightaway but the packaging is rather nice so I’ll let it bide for a bit.

You can use a little paint thinner sparingly on the rear of the card, that will soften the glue on the blister and you will be able to peel it open without damage.

Alternative is cut the blister along the bottom and sides enough to free it.

Or just rip it open! 🤣

A couple of arrivals. Bugatti is lovely (slight disappointment that it isn't blue and sans spoiler, but you can't have everything) and the Range Rover is nice aside from the diarrhea wheels.
