I rang Corgi Model Club's customer services mid-month, and there appeared to have been some confusion about the change of address I'd advised them of back in May. So they told me to give it to the end of June and see if it showed up. Nope, no sign of it (and nothing arrived at the old address) so I rang again last Friday and they said they'd send me out another one. Still no sign of the replacement either. *Sigh* Good to see yours, though - and that Majorette K70 looks awesome too! sutty2006
Hunting through the loft for car boot stuff and found this Franklin mint jaguar ss100. It was bought by my late nan and grandad when I was born circa 1988, and kept on display in a glass cabinet until Nan passed away in 2011. It was boxed up and given to me soon after. All the box and paper work it with it. Unfortunately the chrome plated parts are going green. Is there anything I can do to resurrect the chrome bits? It’s value is pittance unfortunately but has huge sentimental value. AnnoyingPentium, andrew e, warch and 2 others
eddyramrod
I'm in the doghouse. Yesterday another 1/18 scale car arrived (1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser) and today, a box of four Vanguards including, at long last, a Zephyr 4. (Also Hillman Minx, Vauxhall Viva and Rover 3500S which has gone straight into the movie cabinet) sutty2006, AndyW201, Remspoor and 1 other 3
warch
Cheers Datsuncog! It’s an absolutely corking little model of probably my favourite looking car of the 70s (Aussie Falcon XB gets an honourable mention). I was going to liberate it straightaway but the packaging is rather nice so I’ll let it bide for a bit. sutty2006, bunglebus, Datsuncog and 1 other

You can use a little paint thinner sparingly on the rear of the card, that will soften the glue on the blister and you will be able to peel it open without damage. Alternative is cut the blister along the bottom and sides enough to free it. Or just rip it open! 🤣 warch
w00dy
A couple of arrivals. Bugatti is lovely (slight disappointment that it isn't blue and sans spoiler, but you can't have everything) and the Range Rover is nice aside from the diarrhea wheels. eddyramrod
The Vanguards Zephyr that arrived today is pale green, with a darker green interior. Unfortunately it needs to be dark blue with a pale blue interior. Well ok, so I've unscrewed the base and pulled out the interior bucket... but the dash is held in by rivets. I'll have to drill them out, because I can't have a green dash in a blue car, can I?

AndyW201
Nipped out for supplies (in truth getting some beers in for tonight after spending today prettying up the garden, and because I'm off work next week), and headed to the local 'smol' Asda. To my surprise, there was a pretty well stocked Hot Wheels rummage box there. So a bit late to the party but got a few I've been hunting for, Like a few of us on this thread, my other Cherokee in miniature was the Majorette version back in the day. (I also had the little motorised Corgi Trekker -I think that's what it was called- version of the previous style Cherokee with the faux wood side trim). This new Hot Wheels casting is a good un. Would have preferred a bit more of a factory look, but the off road bits are.modelled well. I was giving up on getting hold of one of these, so was chuffed to find one. Yeah, the body kit is a bit JDM Yo! but all credit to Mattel for choosing a subject such as this. warch, AnnoyingPentium, 155V6 and 5 others

NorfolkNWeigh
Found a Kadett and Series Land Rover in a Tesco last week, and was thinking the Land Rover was not as good as the old Matchbox Safari. So I compared them and also looked at a photograph rather than what I thought was correct… Its just coincidence my old one is white, that was the only can of paint to hand when I “restored” it a couple of years ago. I thought the old one was a much nicer casting and more accurate, well nicer and more pleasing it might be, but the new one is more accurate, I think. Some mildly interesting things , the roof rack load is the same as the weird moulded window/ roof rack on the Defender. They’ve removed the prop shaft on the new 109 and the defender seems to have leaf springs Datsuncog, Remspoor, bunglebus and 4 others

bunglebus
Had a bit of fun with the Matchbox Push N Puller. Might have gone a bit far with the masking/colour contrasting, seats, mirrors handles etc all detailed - quite pleased with the different wheels on each side too! As you can see, I went for a pink at the bront, and blue at the frack - or is it the other way around? andrew e, RayMK, AndyW201 and 5 others
MiniMort
Ages and ages ago I bought a little Husky Volkswagen 1300 from a local shop for £1. Using cellulose thinner I simply couldn’t get the paint off (well not particularly effectively) so it sat around for ages. However, using it as something I could easily sacrifice, I tried to simply spray over what was left of the blue, and… Whilst it’s not perfect I’m pretty pleased with it! andrew e, AndyW201, RayMK and 7 others

You may remember my recent purchase of a Corgi 'Golden Jacks' P6. I felt that the wheels, although in original paint were rather dull, I got pics of real P6 2000 TCs and many had chrome wheel trims. Plus the bumpers on mine were flaky. So I got myself a Molotow chrome pen and I don't regret it at all! The wheels look right now and the car is actually starting to resemble a real P6 2000. The bumpers aren't perfect but they are at least the right colour. I've done various similarly aged Corgis and some other models with it and it is amazing stuff. It generally dries within a few hours to a day. Be careful though, make sure the surface is clean and the pen is fully loaded, often it can pick up residue and end up looking like matted grey paint rather than chrome, if any paint surfaces have been treated with other pen/paints before, ensure they are cleaned off as it can also pick up other pen marks and mix into the chrome. bicycle repairman, Shite Ron, Remspoor and 8 others

MiniMort
Update on my little Volkswagen: I decided to give it a mismatched door. That’s a better way of saying I didn’t strip the old paint off and tried using masking tape when painting the luggage on the roof. When I took the masking tape off it pulled away some of the new paint, revealing the original blue. I got the rest of the red off with cellulose thinners and here we are. sutty2006, bunglebus, AndyW201 and 5 others
