Not a bad buy for £2.

Good to see that Solido faithfully replicated the slammed stance found on all R4 F6vans, too.

Small red Corgi. Nothing opens and has a plastic base. I could not find a model number either.

Earlier Corgi Mini. This was once a Wickerwork version No 249. I do not know what the roof rack came off of.

That's one of my favourite American cars and I've been looking at those little Greenlight versions recently but they all seem to be liveried - taxis, cop cars etc. That's the most standard road car version I've seen - do you have a source for these that doesn't have insane postage added?

Well this is where I got my one from. Not sure about postage - I use the "collector's box" facility to hold my cars until I've got enough to qualify for free shipping.

Never knew they did a garage. They were part of a give away at Fina petrol stations as well plus were sold in the shops, I remember getting one and my mum misunderstood that it was a collectors item so I had to keep it on a shelf. As investments go it’s worth fractionally less than the £1.75 I paid for it in 1994. It’s no Bitcoin let’s say...

Posted

They are quite charming wee models, over the years I had 3 out of the 4 in the range with just the 2CV escaping my clutches. They manage to avoid the Days Gone naff-ness by being modeled on relevant subjects.

Nice! Let me know (or I'll keep an eye on this thread) as I'll be in Bournville for most of the day.

So that is where that came from. I have one but it is almost falling apart so I never unfolded it when I was going through my cars. Thanks for the info on the red mini I did not know about the giveaway either. I am too cheap to have purchased Kellogg's. Maybe someone gave them to me.

Good that they've started selling single Majorettes.I liked it when Morrison's sold them for 99p,then Tesco did them but that didn't last long 🙁

Never saw the garage when that fina promotion was on, our local Asda has been selling majorettes for ages but all you ever see is naff stuff.

Well I picked up the R4 for @Lord Sterling, fixed the suspension fault...

The rear bumper is missing an end but looks spot on otherwise. I've got a red one still boxed in the depths of the loft somewhere.

I bought this Lambo yesterday out of that pile I pictured at Asda

She was after £2-3 a car so I left the Matchboxes. I got those five for £9 without haggling so perhaps I should have picked them up.

Lazy bones boot sale was similarly empty, found a 3 for £1 table that netted me a Hot Wheels Turismo

Also this Majorette F40 which was probably quite an expensive toy new

Nipped to local Asda. As expected, not a single Majorette to be found.

At first, the Hot Wheels rummage bin showed little promise, being all B case stuff. But a rummage brought up these more recent ones,

IMG_20220618_203246.thumb.jpg.ad42db75f96da65e9ea18f96cb9d591f.jpg

I had given up all hope of getting one of these. So far, that's all of the colourways I've managed to get of this casting. Love the front and rear detail on it, nice little nod to Ryu on the rear quarters too.

Wish they'd do this casting in non OLLI spec. A Classic in the 'factory fresh' collection would be nice.

While EVs aren't quite my thing, and modern Audi's on this forum go down like a mug of cold piss, I quite like this one. Again, detailing is good.

Love these little Hondas. Just wish I still had my green Xylmex version I had as a kid, to compare.

Another EV. I though this was a generic  fantasy casting, but it appears the Lucid Air is actually a thing. Not unattractive for a big  leccy luxobarge, and the Hot Wheels is a nice miniature version.

Yup, the Renault 5 Turbo, original mid-engine stylee.

This is another one of those models that punches well above its weight when it comes to accuracy, quality and attention to detail for the money. Especially if you snagged it on eBay for £suprisinglylittle.

aCIMG9369.thumb.jpg.66be8681605664ba56e3d9990bf55cc1.jpg

l always liked the 5 Turbo for its sheer unlikeliness. Pert little wobbly French economy voiture suddenly sprouts enormous, American football shoulders and gets infused with 100 extra horsepower. Madness.

This model is labelled as a Revell, but it's been marketed under a variety of names over the years, including Universal Hobbies and, I think, Solido.

aCIMG9373.thumb.jpg.b9b0db91f9be98238631bd75bbc873b8.jpg

The only thing I can really criticise this casting for is that the radiuses are a bit on the chunky side. I'm talking about the door shuts and the corners of the opening panels (of which there are four). Basically, if this was scaled up to life size, the body panels would be wrought from half-inch steel.

aCIMG9371.thumb.jpg.011bfa3b26e77f618e1f3603742ec776.jpg

If this were an AutoArt release, those grilles would probably be perforated, but it isn't, and it doesn't really matter. Other than a slightly skew-wiff tailgate, there's precious little to complain about.

a20220615_194631.thumb.jpg.69328517652fd7c5cc9f930344c2a1ae.jpg

Crucially, they captured the RENAULT script on the badges to virtual perfection. And check out the reverse light-cum-foglights.

Anything else?

Yes:

a20220615_150918.thumb.jpg.47a6a6a56051e58bdee07f7cb274d278.jpg

The boot and parcel shelf. Nicely captured. But wait:

a20220615_150835.thumb.jpg.4971b6ed07efe652f92fe5190e3a7bae.jpg

Niiiice. Plug leads would probably be about an inch thick in real life, but hey, maybe they're designed to handle super high current.

So, what's it like inside?

a20220615_184406.thumb.jpg.5e3add6edfb42d120c594165258a1cae.jpg

Fairly marvellous, really. Everything is in exactly the right place, the switches are labelled properly, there's a little map on the gearknob, and the plaque on the dash denotes this one as being number 1467 of the 1820 Turbo 1s built in reality. Of course, the later "2" went without the wild dashboard of this version. One little quality lapse evident here is that the binnacle of said dash is parting from its fundament. I'm willing to forgive them. I could probably strip it down and do some mending if I felt so inclined.

a20220615_184652.thumb.jpg.fb6aab29b28318ef822e9558d410c594.jpg

"What can we see through the round window?" Speed, revs and ancilliaries.

a20220615_151040.thumb.jpg.a90f378fac94553b40c80d4c86defa27.jpg

There's more openability up front. Under the erstwhile bonnet is a (accurately non-matching) spare wheel and a fnnnhuuge intake duct for engine cooling, which is fed by a bonnet grille that actually is perforated. Made me ever so excited when I noticed that.

aCIMG9367b.thumb.jpg.570884864e7b02307321251dfba2aaee.jpg

That's it, really. I think I paid about £15 for it 'cos, for whatever reason, this model doesn't seem especially sought after. It's not as if eBay is heaving with them, but those examples that do turn up don't seem to attract fierce bidding wars. Mind you, that was about a decade ago. I bought this one and squirelled it away. Like Mr Cog, it's great to get these things out after a long absence and give them a good prodding.

i have the turbot 1 in blue flavour and turbot 2 in pearl white cos they are ace!

There were a couple of Mebetoys and others but all with missing doors etc. I didn't think finding a donor was likely so they stayed on the table

This week's finds,part one20220619_203114.thumb.jpg.1229b89bdb2053ae78640e455c8fe661.jpg

These came from a charity shop & a midweek car boot, nothing at all from today's car boot, but my disappointment was not to last very long 😀

This week's finds part two

20220619_205627.thumb.jpg.fc88b33d0f96a81e64f2eb5f7a03aad6.jpg

We went to feed the ducks this afternoon,in the road leading to the pond, there was a house that had some furniture & other things in the drive, with a sign saying donations. We went & had a look, there were DVDs,books, the normal sort of things but nothing we really wanted. The woman came out from the house & said hello,Miss_155 started chatting & it turned out that that the woman's Mum had recently passed away,& she was starting to clear the house out & she had loads more things to get rid of,& she would be putting more out every few days.Miss_155 then asked if she had any toy cars which I thought would be unlikely, but she replied that there were some somewhere that were hers when she was younger. She  went & had a look,& came back with a carrier bag half full.A quick look showed a few interesting things,so I said I'd take them if that was ok.She said yes,& just to put something in the donation pot which I did.

So I got home,& this was what I found

Schabak Passats, these both have parts missing but are still nice20220619_203837.thumb.jpg.61d94ebdd31859fccf7b9daa8b344d6a.jpg
