Mini Marcos. A find example of the detail manufactures can go to. Like the seats sliding forward. But I do question why. It must have added some cost to the product yet added little to the play worthiness of the car. Opening doors, bonnet etc I can understand. The addition of jacks to this and other cars was a innovative.

I had one of these as a kid , around 1970?

There was a Rover 3500 ( or was it a 2000) as well with the removable wheels but I can’t remember any others.

The Golden Jacks Rover was supposed to be a 2000TC, I think.  Should get myself another one of those, the one I had from new didn't survive.

Other models issued with the Jacks were the Chevrolet Camaro, Oldsmobile Toronado, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow coupe, Chevrolet Corvette, Hillman Hunter Rally car and I'm sure there were, or should have been, others.

The golden jacks cars were cool. It was a Rover 2000TC if i recall correctly i had one as a kid. I liked the clear glazed triplex type roof it had and boot mount spare.

You  could buy packs of replacement wheels with tyres for golden jacks models.

Cool idea, toy vehicles were great then so innovative.

Are these  lists  complete for Golden Jack Corgis?

These were killed off because the need to have Corgi cars with wizz-wheels. Hence there was not a great many model variations.

Picked up this Hot Wheels Jaguar F-type today, with the intention to wheel swap it,until I saw this....

I would have left it on the card if it have known, but alas I'm not endowed with X-RAY eyes.😂20220123_165226.thumb.jpg.0756312dfa1f664cee1afde0385e5f61.jpg

I've picked up a few, this Corvette was the last

Then there's the @Datsuncogsourced Camaro

20211007_150305

The above-mentioned Rover 2000TC, still need a spare wheel cover for this

And a battered Marcos that went off to one of you lot IIRC?

2015 Corolla;

20220123_151656

2015 "Ed Pink" '71 El Camino

They had one of these too but it was £3 and CBA

Thank you!  The only one I seem to have missed out, inexplicably, is the Mini Marcos.  I restored one (in a Code 3 yellow) last year, so I really shouldn't have let it slip past, should I?  I was aware that Whizzwheels had ousted the Golden Jacks but even at the time, didn't think much of that as a marketing choice.  Not Corgi's last mistake, for sure...

For fifty pee, I wasn't going to leave this little honey at the charity shop, was I?

Lesney / England Jeep CJ8 in agonisingly close to mint condition. So pleased was I that I actually rounded it up to a quid.

I had those Sierras! My parents offered to get me a toy in... probably Coles or similar, would have been a Sheffield sort of place. Anyway, I wanted a Transformer - Hot Rod? Was one of the really plasticky ones.

They refused, and pointed out they could get a 'slot racing set' for the same price as the 'overpriced plastic tat'. The Sierras. They have working lights, and the kit runs off a bunch of D or C cells.

Thing about slot racing sets, is it's only racing if someone else comes over to play, and my parents were weird about that. And the batteries lasted all of two seconds. Whereas a Transformer could have been taken to school and played with WITH people.

Still amusing to see some of them again - and they did at least get that I really liked XR4is.

There’s so few of those small independent outfits like those, I miss those old fusty type model shops that were really disorganised and had boxes of stuff to rummage through.

I don't know Redgates, so... unsure - but it was a bottom floor of a department store so not Beatties.

Beatties I think you went down a few steps to a lower retail area, it’s changed so vastly in those row of shops it’s impossible to tell. Cole’s is getting turned into an entertainment venue supposedly with rooftop football pitches.

I have the rover 2000, corvette and Hillman hunter.

I actually prefer the whizzwheels because I was hatched in the early 70's - I have the whizzwheels camaro and rover 2000. The rover is a bit battered - boxed they command a small fortune.

I got this today from a local charity shop, a Foden half cab 6 wheel tipper by Morestone (Budgie?),fair condition but no box hence it was £4.50.

I bought my brother this while at Chester zoo  in 1981. It was the green version. I wrongly assumed he would be over the moon - he was pissed off when he saw I had bought for myself the superfast trans am - the gold one.

I went into Model Junction in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday, it was really busy! It's not a big shop but they have a good range of kits, R/C, Scalextrix, planes and trains. No diecasts of any appreciable amount however. I was good and only bought paint and blades.

Sadly the Langleys model shop in Norwich isn't as good as it used to be, but at least they're still going.

Langleys model shop in Norwich

I probably caught Langleys in something of a golden age, circa 2005/6. I used to visit Norwich pretty regularly because I had a fuel card and was determined to use it. Whenever I visited they seemed to have certain 1:18 AUTOart models at knock-down prices. My 007 Esprit Turbo and P38 Range Rover came from there.

They've moved the main toyshop to elsewhere in town, and merged the model shop that was upstairs with a second place they had selling secondhand/collectible stuff in a different shop. The diecasts were something I recall from my visits there in the past.
